I've held off commenting on this disgusting situation because I'm confused and think we need more info on exactly what happened.  I hear what you are saying, Southern & Roam and you both have valid points in my opinion.  My thoughts keep shifting around about "strong male athletes should't let this happen", "Institutional pressures",  "follow the money", "victim mentality", etc, etc.  I just don't know why the problem of sexual abuse is so prevalent in this day and age.  Is it a product of today's culture or did it happen just as much in the past, but was merely not talked about and swept under the rug?  Please excuse me for being a naive old fart!  Now I know how somebody else must have felt 🙄 🙄

Just to clarify my previous post.  I don't doubt that it happened, but I'm confused as to why it happened to the extent alleged.

I do believe this creep was guilty but I also believe that most of these guys probably remember getting a physical that made them feel uncomfortable so they are coming forward which I think they should. I think it’s very few that got the finish thing if you know what I mean. I also believe if they did get the finish thing they probably wanted it but might regret it now who knows. I’m with you bulldawgs I don’t believe he picked on many football players or wrestlers or he would’ve got his ass beat. If Roam is right about the finish thing my post is what I believe happened. I honestly don’t believe it was to many that got the finish but the media will spin it like all of ‘em got it. I also don’t believe Jim tressell or any of the other coaches knew exactly what this creep was doing but that’s just my opinion. Like Sandusky this doctor was very  sneaky. They probably thought he was creepy it couldn’t prove anything. Just my opinion

All horse$hit. 1 in 6 males are abused in this country, and according to some on here if they are 18 or older and weren't drugged up they all really wanted it to happen. FFS, what ridiculous crap

I mean, actor Terry Crews is a former football player and just huge human being and even he has stated he was sexually assaulted. Go tell him that he really wanted it to happen... I dare you.

Agree with you on this 100%... Not one of his victims wanted it.

It isn’t just prevalent now Bob. The Catholic priest scandal goes back decades. There’s so many other factors that make it more noticed today. We have 24/7 media coverage. We have a culture that asks questions instead of just accepting things. Abuse isn’t new and it won’t be squashed until every incident is called out.

Sugar Ray Leonard was a victim also.

That’s the whole point of the start of this post. It was an institutional coverup by the schools administrators and, allegedly some coaches as well. As I said before several times, the university president admitted the school’s guilt. I’m not sure why some on here seem  unable to see the forest through the trees?

I agree but things like this, racism, violence of any kind wont be squashed because there are just people that want to see the world they live in burn.

If everybody really cared about kids getting molested like they say they do they’d fight like hell to gives these sick  SOB’s the death penalty. I’m for the death penalty when you hurt kids. If you are a man and can defend yourself and somebody touched you in that kind of way then make him regret it and if you can’t at least try. Just my opinion because that’s what I was taught. Letting somebody abuse you for money, fame, free scholarship or whatever is on you especially when you can defend yourself.

I'm not talking about the Catholic priest scandal, the entertainment industry or the like.  I'm talking about what's been happening in sports, college athletics to be specific, e.g. the Sandusky mess as well as what occurred at Syracuse, MSU and OSU.  I don't recall seeing anything prior to this.  As Art Donovan said in the beer commercial quite a few years back about anterior cruciate ligament injuries..."thank God we didn't have any cruciates when we were playing"!

My guess is that these things were happening. We just weren’t hearing about it with less coverage and electronics.

I'm done with this conversation, I don't want to get any more into it because I'll probably say something I would regret. If that's your opinion, well that's your opinion. I think it's completely misinformed and ignorant af. I know people who have been abused, and if anyone was telling me their opinion was that they let it happen... Well lets just say there would be issues.

I'm just going to chalk this up to not being able to talk in person and kinda misunderstanding what you are saying. But I'm just not down with anyone implying a victim of sexual assault should blame themselves. Eff that.

I agree if you are a victim of sexual assault but at what age do you not become a victim? IMO it’s when you can defend yourself. Like I said Roam if I had my way you would get the death penalty for hurting kids and women and men if they can’t defend themselves.

I have a bad way of showing things sometimes because I’m not the best writer but I think you know if I see somebody getting hurt I would help ‘em regardless of what the situation is. I’m a Christian man and I love people and I do help people and I will always help people until I AM takes me home. Back to football brother lol

Lack of institutional control regardless of who the athletes were.
