Seems to me that is why you need to rotate D Linemen more than O'Lineman. And we are short D Linemen....
I thought we were OK at D-Back. Seems we are short on defense everywhere?
Just saw on another site that Denmark and Lane are leaving after previously saying they were staying. I know we brought some help in from ISU, but I would have liked those 2 to stay.
The secondary is the strong suit with the PSU defense right now...They need to fortify the front 7 in a big way...
Penn State is going back to the Big 12 for another transfer portal pickup. However, this new Nittany Lion is not following new head coach Matt Campbell from Iowa State. Former Utah defensive tackle Dallas Vakalahi, who stands 6-foot-2, 318 pounds, will play for Penn State in 2026, On3’s Pete Nakos and Hawyes Fawcett report.
Penn State head coach Matt Campbelland assistant coach Deon Broomfieldhave picked up another commitment in the transfer portal, adding former Boston College safety Omarion Davis following an official visit, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reports.
Listed at 5-foot-11, 188 pounds, Davis just finished his freshman season with the Eagles, giving him three more years of eligibility at Penn State. He also made an immediate impact after January enrollment, playing in all 12 games this past season. In addition to special teams, he totaled 153 snaps at strong safety, totaling 13 tackles.
these dudes like the kid from BC that MC is getting may be able to start but they’ll definitely help out on special teams and give us soMe depth in the secondary. When you look at the last 2 weeks we are killing it baby.
@southern-psu-fan I hear we’re after those OSU receivers in the portal but no luck so far. Porter is the only one that’s visited.
@psujoe I heard the dude on locked say he’s visiting auburn and the visit may not have been good but you know how that dude is sometimes.
Ibn McDaniels, a young defensive back who played at Syracuse in 2025, has transferred to Penn State ahead of the 2026 season.
The 6-3, 205-pound McDaniels was a redshirt freshman last season. McDaniels prepped at Elizabeth High School in New Jersey.
Well if he is from Elizabeth he is a tough kid...I drive through there to go to the crematory I use and that is a tough area...One of my admins went to high school there...Those kids from that area piss lightening and shit thunder...
MC keeping that transfer train moving... 247 has us at #1 ranking in portal.Ibn McDaniels, a young defensive back who played at Syracuse in 2025, has transferred to Penn State ahead of the 2026 season.

That's a big Safety and a REALLY big corner if that kid is a cornerback...Is this kid highly thought of?
Ibn McDaniels was not heavily recruited coming out of H.S. Think of him as a 2 star recruit with potential. Campbell better start aiming higher or we’re in trouble. I get that we’re trying to rebuild our depth but I think that’s mostly been accomplished. Time to aim higher.
Remember not only did we lose a lot of spots due to no recruiting class, but this year was the first year of 105 scholarships. So I don’t think we are in any danger of running out of them, still building it upIbn McDaniels was not heavily recruited coming out of H.S. Think of him as a 2 star recruit with potential. Going after players on this level is a waste of scholarships. Time to aim higher.
@roaminglion we definitely have a lot of spots to fill but I wouldn’t start taking Millersvle level recruits to do it.
I believe in MC but I’m not sure if he understands the power and draw of Penn State Football !
I think in today's game, the portal is becoming the main recruiting grounds; coaches have anywhere from one to 4 years of evalutation including physical and mental growth development for these players. Top tier coaches get that when they are assembling teams, sure everybody wants 5-4 stars, but when the player doesn't fit the system/culture it doesn't work. Imo, the parity is still working out and teams are gonna start offsetting generational talent that you could once get away with in college ball to a more traditional 'team' model; I do think though that the QB position is still gonna be the big factor; I read recently that the difference between a top tier QB and a very good QB was like a foot at the recieving point. Some of the passes the Mendoza completed last night were clear examples of fitting the ball into that space.
Got a question ya’ll? If a players gets in the transfer portal if he doesn’t get picked up or gets the money deal he was wanting does the school he’s at have to take him back? Thanks

No, once they enter the portal the school they left has no obligation to take them back. I guess from your lack of response last night you don’t know anything about Guntersville, Alabama?
@psujoe They said on the game last night Indiana has 8 4 and 5 stars out of 108. They said high school stars don't mean a lot
Yup, I agree. Once a kid has shown he can do it at the next level... who cares what his eval was in HS. Doesn't matter, the player has demonstrated they are better than their HS star rating.@psujoe They said on the game last night Indiana has 8 4 and 5 stars out of 108. Cignetti and Indiana have put on a master class on using the portal to find players that fit their system and culture, rather than chasing talent.
@psujoe I go to Guntersville, Al every week unloading chemicals.whys that homer?
One more question please. Can a player be in the transfer portal and still play in the bowl games or playoffs? I thought I heard something like that going on last night? Thanks
Our players waited till after the bowl game if I remember correctly?
I think some of our players waited b/c 1) they were trying to improve their draft or portal positioning, 2) leverage their position with PSU before hoping in the portal, 3) wanted to show the new coach they wanted to stay and play at PSU.
Side note, I really don't see EG gaining anything other than potenitally starting by going to VT; development wise; I just don't see it, but I could be dead ass wrong. Imo, he needed to transfer to program with a history of developing QBs not leaving one that didn't do shit with what they had.
