PSU had just taken the lead at 21-14 before Rising got hurt scrambling for a first down in the following possession. Rising’s injury had happened 3 months prior and was aggravated on that play.
See, tou say stuff like "we dominated that game even when their QB was playing" without any thought that you are completely wrong. It was 21-14 and they had the ball. We werent dominating them at all. They had more yards and we had just scored to take the lead. It was tied at half.@roaminglion that’s my point about teams like Utah, our defense will get to the QB and there’s a good chance we will knock him out of the game. We dominated that game even when their starting QB was playing. When you’re play tough defenses like Penn St there’s a good chance your QB leaves the game.look how many QB’a get hurt in the big 10 and most of ‘em are limping at the end of the season.
I don’t think the ACC is all that good right now but we’ll get a better feel when the bowl games get here. IMO the PAC and big 12 are good on offense and average on defense. Probably real good on offense but they struggle when they play the heavyweights of the SEC and big 10.
You just pull stuff out of this air, they had more yards than us and we only just went up by 7. That by no definition is dominating.
We had 6 or 7 sacks... just 1 on thrir starting QB. Obvious we got to the other guy much more.
@roaminglion look how many QB’a get hurt in the big 10 and most of ‘em are limping at the end of the season.
Oh please... Yeah the defenses are so scary Ohio State and Michigan's QBs havent been hurt in years. Most of the teams in the Big Ten have healthy starters.
Meanwhile in the Big 12, 8 or 9 teams have injured QBs. I guess their defenses are good because of this meaningless stat you pulled out of thin air?
Or is their another excuse coming as to why QB injuries in thr Big Ten are because of good defense, but in the Big 12 it cant be that
@roaminglion I’m not talking about just this year Roam I’m talking about QB’s getting hurt playing in the big 10 heck Clifford got banged up for 3 years, D-Clark got hurt, Hack got hurt and Allar got nicked up. Big picture bro. Big 12 and PAC defenses suck, just deal with it! When is the last time the PAC or big 12 won a NC? Enough said!
Roam, I get excited sometimes having fun but the text looks like I’m being a smart butt. I shouldn’t have said enough said. Sorry my bad.
@southern-psu-fan USC won a couple, oklahoma and Texas won 2... so both the Big Ten, Big 12, and Pac 12 have the same amount of tities since 2001.
Or is that 1 title by Ohio State in 2014 have you thinking thr Big Ten is soooooooooo much better than the Pac or Big 12? Lmao
Heck, at least the Big 12 had more than one of it's teams win a title this century.
@roaminglion you know I love Pete Carroll and imo the USC teams he had I would put up against and teams ever to play college football. They were that good. I just don’t believe Washington can get that kind of talent USC was getting when Pete Carroll was there. When USC has the right coach ain’t nobody better. I don’t believe Ohio St has lived up to their potential the last 10 years but they did win one under the new playoff system.
Southern needs to stop listening to Finebaum and try to get himself back in touch with reality.
Somehow Southern you think USC has the potential to be the best team ever, yet wasnt able to win more Pac 12 championships in the past 15 seasons than Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Stanford.
You think those teams stink.. but simultaneously believe USC is amazing. Boggles my mind the mental gymnastics one has to do to say those teams are no good and only dominated USC because the Trojans simply keep messing up the coaching hire. Lmao
@roaminglion USC was dominating college football with the Pete Carroll teams. Surely you’re not trying to compare the PAC champs the last 10 to 12 years to the USC teams in the 2001-2005? If you are you have a very short memory but I’m not buying you believe that.
@southern-psu-fan All I know is if we played Oregon or Washington today they would destroy us. As pathetic as our offense is our D would be gassed by the end of the 3rd quarter. USC would most likely defeat us too as any team with a creative offense is going to give us fits because our Cro Magnon offense will struggle to keep up.
Don’t fool yourself into thinking our defense is the only reason OSU and Meatchicken scored under 30 points against us, both of those teams knew they didn’t need to score a lot to defeat us and they both took their foot off the gas and played conservative but when they needed to score they did score.
@psujoe USC has lost 5 out of 6 they aren’t a good football team. These team’s Oregon and Washington aren’t good on defense homer and our defense would shut them down. IMO the games would go just like the Utah game did in the Rose Bowl. Ever which one makes the playoffs will get destroyed by Georgia or Alabama. The big 10 has stunk it up in the playoffs so who knows on how the game goes.
@southern-psu-fan there are so many contradictions in the things that you post.
Well they cheated so it's hardly an amazing feat. Dont even try to argue because they were caught and punished for it.@roaminglion USC was dominating college football with the Pete Carroll teams. Surely you’re not trying to compare the PAC champs the last 10 to 12 years to the USC teams in the 2001-2005? If you are you have a very short memory but I’m not buying you believe that.
@psujoe I tell you we have the lead when the Utah QB goes down 21-14 you tell me I need to watch the games because it was tied 14-14 when video shows I was correct. We win the game 35-21 and we clearly had the better team. The problem remoh for most fans out there is y’all don’t understand that there’s 4 quarters in a football game not 2 and teams like Utah are good enough to hang around for 2 quarters but they don’t have the depth to keep up in the second half and that’s why teams like Penn St usually win. We wear teams down like Utah and that’s exactly what happened. That game went pretty much exactly the way I thought it would. There’s 4 quarters in a game not 2 and we’ve been winning games like this since I know 1975. I didn’t contradict myself you did. You gotta let the Michigan game go its water under the bridge.
Unless I’m reading fake sports news I just read again on Pennlive that we are headed to the Peach bowl assuming we beat Michigan State. I also read DA will most likely play against Michigan St and Pribula will get some snaps. 10-2 on the way baby and hopefully the Peach bowl is lol
Absolute nonsense. Utah played a back and forth game with Ohio State the year before and lost 48-45. You gonna try and tell us that even though the game was playing out the same exact way, their QB going down didnt hurt them at all? FFS that is a ridiculous take.@psujoe I tell you we have the lead when the Utah QB goes down 21-14 you tell me I need to watch the games because it was tied 14-14 when video shows I was correct. I am sure Iowa tells themselves the same thing, that they had us right where they wanted us when Clifford got injured 2 years ago. Because starting QBs getting injured dont effect the game at all
I am sorry Southern, but this is a really, REALLY bad take.
@roaminglion we were beating Iowa when Clifford got hurt and Utah never had the lead playing Penn St. we would’ve won that game regardless if he got hurt or not but the way we play defense any QB is liable to go down running the ball. Having the 21-14 lead puts pressure on Utah which is the game plan for James Franklin and Manny. 35-21 roam and Utah scored a garbage TD with 30 seconds left. We give Utah a beat down..that’s the facts.
@southern-psu-fan good lord southern stop talking in circles. YOU’RE NOT FINEBAUM !! And we’re not a bunch of gullible southerners.

That's the point going completely over your head. The point was Penn State loses our starting QB and Iowa jumps all over us... but Utah loses their starting QB and you deny all conceivable logic and state that even though the game was close and we pulled away after the QB went down... It wouldn't matter.... because "reasons"
Oh yeah... and USC stinks except when they don't and then they are the greatest college football team in history. But only when they have the right coach, when they don't they're awful... except in 2016 when they "got better" and that's why they beat us.
@southern-psu-fan I have to agree with you on this one Southern. Penn State absolutely looked like the better team from the start with or without their starting QB. After the game started I got the feeling the outcome was never in doubt even when l can be the ultimate pessimist sometimes. It just looked like we were winning the trenches from the start. Their QB needed to scramble away from pressure and ultimately got hurt. Also, the opposing QB isn’t on the field for an 80+ yard running TD along with an 80+ passing TD.
