Utah had over 200 yards before their QB went down, and 50 yards after until our backups were in for the last drive.

With their QB in, over 200 yards in a little over a half. Without him... 5 sacks an 50 yards. I mean, go ahead and try to convince yourselves that we were "dominating" them and the QB going down didnt matter but come on.

Utah became anemic on offense without Cam Rising. They had more total yards than us when he was in the game. You guys are funny.

@roaminglion Cam Rising, the starter, was 8/21 95 yards before he went out. Not exactly stellar. He scrambled a long run for 16 yards. Sure, he could be a bit dangerous with his legs but even when he was in, it seemed that Penn State looked the better team. I was never uncomfortable watching even with him in the game. Who said “dominating” ? Maybe not dominating but Penn State was the better team.

Cam Rising was a mobile QB, not a pocket passer. You even stated he was running around in your previous post. He had 60 yards rushing, and the 2 other RB's had 80 and 50 yards respectively. Utah had over 150 yards rushing when he was injured, and almost none after that point.

You think it's a coincidence that all of a sudden they couldn't run the ball when their running QB (who was averaging 6 yards a carry) went out? All of a sudden? I'm sorry but that's just plain false.

I watched the game. I see the stats. It's insane to think Cam Rising going down didn't chance that game.

Some people in this thread obviously watch the games with blue and white glasses on.

@roaminglion yeah he was a bit of a threat running cause he was under pressure and not designed runs. That’s usually when QBs get hurt. Penn State was winning when he was in. Remember Utah was LOSING with him playing. IMO PS would have kept winning and won with or without him. You two are acting like this guy was Superman. Honestly, debating it doesn’t matter now. I just like W and I’m not one to get into debating what may or may not have happened.

Roam I respect 100% of your posts and agree with probably over 90% of them. I was agreeing with Southern here and thought I’d throw my opinion in.

@psuinhawaii no he wasn’t Superman but good lord man, saying he wasn’t a difference in this game is just plain idiotic. He is a duel threat QB that scrambles and makes plays while doing so.
It’s almost as idiotic as thinking the only team that can be good in the PAC12 is USC.

PS had just scored and the game was 21-14. Utah was driving when he got hurt, so saying "we were winning" without context is a bit misleading.

BTW, against Ohio State Rising had just about 100 yards rushing doing the same thing. It's his game.

Not sure if you think I'm saying Utah would have won... but I'm not. Just that him being hurt absolutley changed the game and limited Utah's offense.

Another example of borderline idiocy that makes this forum hard to read lately“Clifford going down is why we lost to Iowa” and then it’s “Rising getting hurt had no effect on the Rose Bowl”

And then there’s the constant B1G sucks and can’t hang with the SEC or ACC. But then “there’s only 4 teams in the country that could beat PSU”

ummmmm we lose to the 2 best teams in the B1G every year and if that conference sucks we suck too so how the efff are we going to beat the best teams from other conferences?

Perhaps, he was the startling QB for a reason after all. Obviously the defense wasn’t stopping Penn State so he was going to need to throw it sometimes and 38% completion rate wasn’t going to get job done imo. I’m just saying I don’t think he was going to scramble his way to a victory. This is just my opinion and we’ll never know. I won’t labor the point any longer. Maybe just a difference in opinion this time. It’s all good.

I’ll say you that you and Southern debating certainly makes the board more lively and interesting.

Iowa dominated the second half, kicked our ass and won 23-20.

@psujoe I agree but that doesn’t change the facts that we kicked the shit out of UTAH 35-21 and it really wasn’t that close James Franklin showed some class and called off the dawgs.

So what, we beat a team who lost their leader and QB in the 2nd half. They were also playing without their starting RB, starting TE, and starting DB.

Glad we won, but if you arent in the playoff thrn youbaren't playing the same team from the regular season. Glorified participation games now with all the optouts. Utah's starting RB, TE, and DB's all opted out as did some of our guys.

That's why I dont care about bowl games anymore... they dont matter because it's not the same teams playing anyway.

@roaminglion I’m for getting rid of all the bowls and do a 16 team playoff. If you’re not ranked in the top 16 your season ends but as long as we have the bowl games they count just like any other game. Just my personal opinion

To me, if half the starting team is out because they are waiting for the draft... it's a glorified practice/preseason game for next year

I believe PSU would have beat Utah with or without Rising...But to say losing your key offensive player didn't have an impact on the outcome of the game is just plain asinine...I have been saying for years that the bowl games are nothing but a glorified scrimmage because most of the better players sit out to prepare for the NFL draft to avoid injury...I also feel the D1 football playoff should be set up EXACTLY the same way all the other divisions are set up...If these lower division teams without the big money can afford to travel and keep up with their academic work I am sure these D1 football factories can manage as well...

@the-funeral-director You know as well as I do that those southern wussies would never agree to that FD. They’re scared as hell about possibly having to travel north in December, just. wait till next year when they try to get as many as their teams ranked as high as possible so they don’t have to travel north.
