By your theory, we should just legalize crack and heroin. The bad guys are going to get them anyway, right?

@lionbacker99 absolutely not drugs kill a lot more people than guns do. Just to many guns out there to assume bad guys won’t be able to get ‘em. I just don’t see a way to stop this evil crap we can only minimize the damage if it does happen. But if the bad guys knew cops or armed teachers have guns on schools grounds they might not come. Some people believe in legalizing drugs but I don’t.

@lionbacker99  there’s around 300 million guns in this country 99 and criminals have a bunch of ‘em. When there’s only a few bad people that want to kill innocent people you can’t take a chance trusting either side with the 2nd amendment. Laws don’t mean anything if people don’t obey’em that’s why I don’t think what you want will work. It’s not a good idea to give up gun rights because whoever thinks criminals will obey the law.  I see your side in a perfect world but this ain’t a perfect world.

I'm really tired of the response of "giving up gun rights" whenever someone talks about background checks and red flag legislation. None of what 99 said talked about taking away guns. What he did talk about was making it harder, much harder, to get a gun if you have a violent past or have made violent statements of your intentions to harm others.

Even freedom of speech has limits, certain things you cant say or do. The right to bear arms is no different, we already legislate what types of arms you can and cant have. C4 is regulated, no citizen can go buy a sidewinder missle, and if you buy too much fertilizer the FBI will look into you as a possible bomb builder. These are "arms", yet we limit or restrict them due to their destructive power. So when people talk about their right to bear arms being "unrestricted", it's a complete fallacy. We do it already, a lot.

@roaminglion Correct. Thank you. I never said anything about confiscating firearms from law abiding citizens. That’s another right wing propaganda idea to avoid dealing with the issue.

If it’s so easy to buy a gun why couldn’t I buy one? I’ve tried to buy a gun and got turned down. Back in January I tried to get a carrying permit and I got turned down. Just like most people do this ain’t an insult, it’s just the way it is, y’all sit and listen to the people y’all agree with and believe everybody else thinks the same way you do. This goes for everybody, the people you sit and listen to gets paid to say what the say, they most likely don’t believe what they say but they get paid to say it. Them articles are BS about gun control and I got proof, look at where we are, if most people wanted more gun control you’d have it because politicians make changes to what their base wants on both sides and y’all know this but you’ll believe an article you read in a paper that you agree with and believe everybody else thinks the same way. Guys they don’t especially with guns. I don’t have any machine guns I have 2 9mm but I don’t want the rights of other people take. away. If they change laws and get rid of these guns then I’ll support it.

No, you don't have proof. You live in a country where each state has different laws regarding who can buy a gun and what they need to go through. To act like because you can't buy a gun in your state, therefore it's "proof" that it isn't easy or loopholes exist in other states is incredibly naive. That's like saying because someone in Texas can open carry, it's proof they can open carry in NYC.

When people talk about gun legislation, they are talking about federal regulation. Right now each state has their own laws which vary from strict to extremely lax.

@rockatansky76 well to start, the shooter in Uvalde. The shooter in Buffalo from NY state bought an bump stock adapter in Pennsylvania. I know several people that own several AK47’s , one a former SWAT cop and another a local Judge. Truthfully the retired SWAT cop worries me.

@lakerie I didn’t know they bump stocks. I know Full autos are hard to come by. I live not far from Philly and you can buy anything from guns to people illegally. Like Roam said about state to state laws. I have a house in New Jersey and one in Pa. Both states are very different in gun laws.  Pa very easy to get a carry permit. Jersey forget about it unless you are a jewelry dealer or in law enforcement. This was before my time. But one of the worst school shootings in history was in 1966 I believe. University of Texas in a bell tower.  I think it was 16 students killed. Some at 400 yards  I think these underage crimes need to put and held on record so when these kids turn 18 it shows run ins with the law. And ditch the promise Program. That was a big loophole in Florida with the Parkland shooter

@lakerie   Hopefully the Swat cop friend has good people around him. If someone really wants to harm or kill people they will find ways to get the necessary tools weapons they need. It’s crazy the access people have to illegal weapons, drugs you name it.  The bell tower shooter was a trained marksman. Single shot bolt action rifle.  My brother was a Marine. They talked about that shooting in boot camp. Makes you think of that line in Full Metal Jacket. The deadliest weapon in the world. Is Marine with his rifle!

When bad people want to do bad things it’s impossible to stop, all you can try and do is try minimize the damage Rock. What 99 and Roam says sounds great I just don’t believe it will work and keep guns out of bad peoples hands they’ll find a way to get guns. That article I put up above is my opinion how you minimize the damage. If these evil punks think somebody might have a gun and will kill them they might not come if they think they’ll get shot and killed. Just my opinion though

Here's the problem with your theory Southern... most of these people are suicidal,  they don't give a ch*t about a teacher with a gun. Why would they, they want and expect to die.

Why on earth do you think they would be scared of teacher with gun if they don't care that SWAT will be there at some point? Even a study done recently at TEXAS STATE U shows guns in schools didn't make a difference, and made teachers and students feel LESS SAFE.

@roaminglion I agree about the suicidal part.  I personally knew two men.  Who went off domestically and shot people. Both had suicide attempts in their pass and made threats of suicide by cop on their way out.

@roaminglion  I agree Roam, they might not care about a teacher with a gun but if a teacher with a gun can shoot and kill a killer before he kills 19 kids that’s a win. I’m not saying just arm some teachers with guns, I’m all for what you are for as well. I’m all for background checks and not letting bad people have guns but if a bad guy gets a gun and goes to a school and shoot it up, it will take another gun to kill him and take him down. I’m not saying everybody at schools need to be armed,  I’m saying a few needs to be armed just in case. Let’s do everything we can to stop this evil crap from happening again. Maybe both our idea’s is what’s needed.

I don’t know for sure but I’ve heard Chicago, NYC and LA have tough gun laws and guns and crime is pretty bad in those 3 cities. I just don’t trust politicians with our 2nd amendment. Not even a little bit. If we can get something done with messing with that I’m all for it.

I gotta ask. What do you need a firearm like that for? No need for it. Absolutely none! Are you on the swat team? Are we being invaded ? Are aliens invading the US.  Legislation needs to come together in this country and make something happen.  Get rid of violent video games. They are selling these violent video games to the youth of our country. Unbelievable.

The Armalite 15 is basically the semi-auto variant of the M16, it was designed based off of it. You are right... pretty much made for one thing.

@southern-psu-fan First, nobody has suggested taking firearms from law abiding citizens. Again, that is a scare tactic from the right wing to avoid dealing rationally with the issue. Second, the NY Post is a conservative tabloid and they spin a scenario from something Joe said. We all know Joe can sometimes produce a pretty good gaffe. At this point, no rational person can give a legitimate reason why universal background checks, red flag laws, or assault weapons bans would be bad for law abiding US citizens.

@roaminglion  I understand that but possibility means he’s thinking about it which scares the piss out of me. What a stupid thing to say right now which gets back to my point when me and lake was talking, I don’t believe they want to get anything done or he wouldn’t have said something that stupid. I’m telling y’all, neither side wants to get anything done on gas prices, borders or gun control it’s how they pander to their diehard voters and it’s killing most Americans but as long as they keep their powers that’s all that matters to them brother.
