When will this stop!!!??? Southern, more guns in school is a horrible idea.....bullets flying in any and every unintentional direction. We need at least the minimal legislation. How is it you regulate prescription drugs, alcohol, tobacco but you can sell a gun to any crazy in a parking lot without a background checkat a gun show? Why does anyone need automatic weapons of war? Why does it have to be that the #1 killer of children is guns? Our legistators need to get real and stop pandering to what they think their constituents want, truth is nearly 70% of the population want some kind of gun control reform. I'm soooo sick of this of this shit.
@lakerie I agree brother just saying some teachers need to be armed just in case an evil nut like this dude that killed all them kids can be took down quicker. Not all teachers just a few. Maybe 3 or 4 teachers per school. We can’t stop people from doing evil things but hopefully we can minimize the damage. Maybe change the way we enter schools. Treat schools just like the courthouse and that will stop a lot of it but if a dude gets a gun and charges in a school shooting there’s no way to stop him unless you shoot and kill the dirtbag. My wife works at Villa Rica High school been there 15 years as an administrator and i worry her because you never know when something like this might happen. The NRA banned guns from their expo today because Trump would be there... and to think all they needed to do was hire some teachers to show up with guns and protect them. Everything would be fine.

My point with the teachers having guns was to minimize kids dying if somebody shows up and wants to kill people. You might not save everybody but if 10 kids could’ve got saved if the scumbag would got shot by a teacher it would’ve been better than 19. If we decide to put 2 cops in the schools that’s ok with me too. There’s no way to stop this if some evil person shows up with a gun to kill people the best thing that can happen is somebody kill him before something goes bad. Guys, the bottom line is ain’t neither side going to budge and the courts are on the guns side. I got 2 9mm and 400 bullets in my safe and unless my wife is with me to carry the gun that’s where they stay. Got into a little trouble back in the day so ole southern ain’t supposed to have a gun I’m probably pushing it being around one. 2 guns I’ve got are my wife’s. Just can’t wrap my mind around how somebody can hurt innocent little kids, it disgusts me and breaks my heart.

Every time this happens some yell "more guns". We arm more people, and it happens again. So more guns. Then with yet more guns... it happens yet again.

Absolutely Southern, these school shootings have been analyzed and best practices established. Perhaps those protocols not learned by the smaller local authorities but there is no excuse for the fuzzy stories given in the beginning.

How about we enact some reasonable gun purchasing legislation that prevents the crazies from obtaining them legally? If you read the article I posted, many of the shooters bought them legally. However, if you read closer, many had mental health issues that didn’t prevent them from purchasing the firearms, but should have. That needs to stop. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results. We are an insane country. We are the only “civilized” country in the world that has a mass shooting and gun violence problem, yet here we are with people continuing to stick their heads in the sand and pretend that isn’t the issue. Enough already. There isn’t a single reason that civilians should own semi auto assault weapons. None. Not a single reason. They are designed to kill as many people as possible in as short amount of time as possible. They are not for hunting or any other shooting sport. Ban them now. End of story. And I’m tired of people hiding behind the second amendment to defend this nonsense. The second amendment wasn’t intended for everyone. I’m sorry, but that’s the hard truth. Some people don’t have the mental capacity or common sense to own a firearm. Get over it. That’s just the way it is. People with certain medical conditions can’t obtain a driver’s license because they could hurt someone, yet we let anyone buy a firearm? How stupid is that? An 18 yr old can’t buy a six pack because they aren’t mature enough to comprehend the consequences of drinking too much, but they can buy multiple AR-15s? WTF is wrong with this line of thinking? Enough already. The NRA is a despicable organization who showed their true character after Sandy Hook. It would only make sense that their keynote speaker would be one of the most despicable people to walk the planet. The musical entertainers at the event at least had the sensibility and compassion for the situation to withdraw from attending. And before anyone goes off on me as being anti gun, I have hunted since I was 10 and own firearms. They are treated with respect and caution. I also have no issue if I am required to register them. I have nothing to hide. I also have no issue if, when I decide to purchase another one, I am subject to a more extensive background check, and a waiting period for the firearm. I would applaud the move and welcome it if it would prevent another event like the one we are talking about. Enough is enough. Wake up people. If your legislators don’t hear what you are asking them to do, vote their sorry butts out. They work for you, not the other way around. Lastly, teachers are trained to teach, not be security guards. I don't see how arming teachers is meeting in the middle. The middle would be gun legislation that makes purchasing a weapon harder for someone with mental health issues and other sensible things. Yet every time that comes up, certain politicians block it.
This dude even told police 4 years ago that on his 18th birthday, he was gonna get a gun and shoot up a school. Yet he legally bought one. That tells you something is wrong with this system.

I wouldn't want to be a cop. Damned if you do and damned if you dont. There were plenty of mistakes made and it all started with this kid passing his background check. He lived with his grandparents, his grandfather was a convicted felon therefore no guns are allowed in his home. Why wasn't this caught on the background check? We need to close ALL the loopholes in the background checks and buying firearms at gun shows.
The door that he gained access to was left propped open by a teacher that went to retrieve her cell phone from her car.
Why weren't the doors rigged with alarms that go off when opened? I assumed all schools had that protection in place, at least they do in my neck of the woods.

Horrible idea that every right winger proposes every time there is a tragedy like this. The answer isn’t adding more guns to the equation. Plus, we live in a time where we need more police officers in the general public, how are we going to find additional officers to put in schools? Your theory was put to the test in Buffalo where a retired police officer in the supermarket returned fire on the shooter. He along with many others still lost their lives. Assault weapons ban, more extensive background checks (including criminal background and any existing psychological history), and waiting periods. That’s the starting point. It has to happen now.

If you actually read the article I posted, most of the mass shooters, unfortunately, obtained the guns and ammo legally, even though they should have been flagged for not being eligible to buy firearms.
