@thepakid That Nickal spladle was awesome. You can’t see it in this particular video, but I remember an Iowa fan behind the PSU bench jumping up and cheering when Brooks got in deep in Nickal’s legs. Then he looked completely deflated when the pin was called. It was glorious.

So, I have to ask. Were the Iowa fans nasty to you guys? I ask because I remember Barkley saying after the 2017 game that the Iowa fans were saying some horrible things to him and some others on the team. He wouldn’t repeat it, so I assumed it crossed the line in some way. Anything like that with the fans at Carver?

Not sure if you guys caught it, but someone in the stands last night threw a water bottle at Starocci when he came off the mat.

Brands seems to be mouthing off to someone on PSU's bench during the Desantos act.  Is that the same ankle pull the ref stopped yesterday?

The worst match I remember was the Rutgers kid that kept slapping Rutherford on the head.  The ref never did anything.  It should have been a DQ in in the 1st

I was wrong, the ref warned him and penalized him twice.  I wanted Rutherford to make that final bow and arrow hurt.  My feeling was that it was the game plan by the wrestler and the Rutgers coach.

@underlion : Yes it was.  As soon as RBY touched his ankle the ref yelled "Keep it Legal" or would blow the whistle and call stalemate.  He was yelling at the ref during the Desanto Act.  He was telling the ref that he warned him about it and the ref said I was on it.

Iowa fans somehow get a pass, maybe because we see them as Midwesterners?  They are probably worse than average but every fanbase has their nuts that make them look bad.   And the more alchohol....

But again the Brand brothers admit to no behavior being excessive...just supporting my team.

'Small mans attitude' branded by the Brands.

@lionbacker99   Let me just say that their fans are passionate about their wrestling and their Hawkeyes in particular.  For the most part, the fans were very cordial and polite towards us but there were/are always a few that made our stay there quite uncomfortable.  I must admit they were always nicer towards us during warm-ups then they were during and after the meets.  I can only hope that some of the fans ratted out the fool that threw the water bottle at C-Star.  I heard it mentioned on the radio but watching the match on youtube they never showed it.  I enjoyed conversing with fans from other teams; most were cool, some were d-bags.  Much like some of the Nits.  There are those that I'd love to sit down and have a beer with and some I wouldnt piss on if they were on fire.

Is Desantos the Iowa kid that gets a pass for being Autistic or something?  Or is that a different Iowa problem?

@underlion    We always had more trouble with the Ohio State fans than the Iowa fans.  Bo loved to get the fans fired up and then silence them.

@thepakid I was talking fans in general (wrestling and football) and yes I expect OSU fans are worse but I feel like Iowa fans get a bit of a pass.  We all like passion...within the acceptable limits.

I think I'd have the nerve to turn a PSU fan in for throwing something I found dangerous.  Especially if security asked me.  That deal in TN last year where they were throwing D Batteries was rediculous.  A plastic water bottle that is pretty full might do some damage.  Bet if Star went into the stands after the guy the Brands would think he was out of control.

Interesting. Gilman is all in since moving to the NLWC.

I watched the Desanto act again.   RBY pulled up on his toes, I saw nothing dangerous, then Desanto lightly grabs the ref while complaining.  His next move is to give RBY a right hook that was excessive.  In a later period i see RBY pull on his ankle similar to when he faked the injury last year.  Desanto must have tender ankles for a wrestler.

Earnhardt would call it 'just racing' 😪

We'll see how Cael politically answers questions in his weekly, is it Monday?

I don't see a water bottle thrown in my replay, maybe I missed it.

The MN Michigan match they didn't wear the dumb red and green ankle bands,  Michigan was 'green'.  Makes sense to me for a dual.

@lionbacker99 odd,  he grew up in Council Bluffs Iowa, been there.  You'd think he would still be an Iowa fan even wrestling for the NLWC

@underlion Jeff Byers, PSU radio PBP announcer, reported the bottle being thrown and some guys on Iowa’s wrestling forum confirmed it. One poster said he thought it was a beer can. Either way, low class, but I would expect nothing less from the program who’s fans booed our injured football players and their coach took part in the accusations post game also. The DeSanto incident is not a light vs aggressive debate in my mind. If you make contact with an official in other sports, it’s either a penalty or disqualification. Wrestling should be no different. DeSanto also, at one point, appears to shove RBY after the whistle. Marinelli did the same thing against Berge. It’s a reflection on their coaches. They condone that stuff. The ref should have taken control of the match from the start. Any coach who repeatedly goes after a ref at the table needs to be warned, then penalized. That’s what the challenge brick is for. Throw it, then explain your case. Don’t keep coming back to the table over and over or coming onto the mat to scream. Did you see their act after Iowa State this year in Ames? They basically tried to instigate a fight post match. Ridiculous. It isn’t WWE.

My apologies on the Iowa-Iowa St synopsis. The post match incident wasn’t necessarily started by the Brands. However, they started their in match theatrics by yelling and pointing at the Iowa St bench, which is coached by 2 former Hawks who don’t get along with the Brands. The whole drama started with….you guessed it, Austin DeSanto who was pointing and doing his thing during his match. This included him walking his opponent into the scorer’s table and jumping up and down in the middle of the mat after his match, taunting the crowd.

Bo had his forgettable moments but in 2019 when he beat Kolin Moore of Ohio State in the NCAA finals he was a gentleman and respectful.

I just watched that bout you were talking about.  Desanto should have been leashed years ago.  The Brands brothers have no class at all.  Im glad we have CS running our team.  That man is a class act thru and thru
