PSU offensive coordinator has been fired
Yay!! Now's our chance to pounce on Brian Ferentz for another miserable 3 years. (think I'm pissed on Penn State football?)
Who do we try and get? James Franklin keeps a list? Looks like the FD was right?
I don’t think so Lake unless he’s hired as an OL coach
I'm reading on the Blue white wrestling board that Seider named the interim OC, though I can't confirm
Must have been Yurcich who decided to go for 2…….. twice.
Yurcich must also have been the guy who decided to go for it on 4th and 6 from the Penn State 30 with 4:21 remaining on the clock.
My sister and her husband are big time donors to the university and I got a text from him this morning saying JF might be fired. I’m not sure if Yurcich being fired ends that possibility or not. I do know that the PSU fanbase is pissed, I took the dog for a walk into downtown Hershey this morning with my PSU gear on and ran into a lot of angry people. I even talked to a sympathetic couple from Ohio who said if JF was the OSU coach he’d be fired by Monday
@southern-psu-fan .....I was kidding Southern. Ferentz might be the only OC worse than Yurcich this year.
@southern-psu-fan Hey Southern, you were right about McCarthy’s mobility
I wonder how much influence a few of the Offensive skill guys (Allar) had on this firing.
Watch Yurcich go somewhere and have a dynamic offense.
He had 35 yards running, Allar had 49. I wouldnt say McCarthy's mobility was a deciding factor in the game.@southern-psu-fan Hey Southern, you were right about McCarthy’s mobility
From PL article:
"running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider and tight ends coach Ty Howle will share interim offensive coordinator duties for the remainder of the season."
I don't know Lake, supposedly Allar & Yurcich are real tight. In fact Yurcich is the one who recruited Allar! Maybe Allar will decide to follow him out the door? It might be in our best interests to give Pribula a start and see what he can do.
@roaminglion That would be something. It's working well for Kirk Ciarrocca at Rutgers but not so much at part 2 in Minnesota.
@roaminglion it’s the plays he got the 35 yards Roam that kills the defense. The plays he’s running throwing for first downs on 3rd and long that kills the defense. When the defense is worried about the legs of the QB the running backs kill you. It’s the combination of the mobile QB and running game that killed us yesterday when Michigan didn’t even throw a pass in the second half.
Unfortunately, IMO this doesn't change anything. Even if MY made the decision of what is known as boneheaded calls, JF still had to approve if he himself didn't make the call. Seems to me JF is the common denominator.
Jimmy had to throw somebody under the bus. Otherwise, he might be checking out the under carriage himself, lol.
In Franklin's 10 years, he has hired 5 OC's and fired 3 of them. At a certain point, you start to wonder if it's really the OC's who are the problem with the offense and not the HC.
Don't you?
Allar ran for 49 yards, Michigan was fine with it. Don't give me this nonsense that somehow a QB who ran for less yards than Allar and didnt throw 1 pass in the 2nd half worried us in the pass or running game.@roaminglion it’s the plays he got the 35 yards Roam that kills the defense. The plays he’s running throwing for first downs on 3rd and long that kills the defense. When the defense is worried about the legs of the QB the running backs kill you. We lost because our offense sucks, not because the Michigan QB is athletic. Could have had a statue bsck there, we still lose.
@roaminglion Michigan made plays on 3rd downs and we didn’t and that was the difference. You’re right our offense stunk it up yesterday and Michigan did just enough to get the win. Hopefully we can get somebody in here to change that.
I just hope from here on out we see a decent offense and some good production in all phases.
