@lakerie: First off, glad to learn that you're ok. I was worried when we hadnt heard from you. In fact, I called Gramps and he said to give you till Monday and if I hadnt heard from you, I was to ask Cave to look ya up.
I wondered too if Desanto was off his meds this past weekend; and I'm being serious when I say that. I've heard rumors and speculation about what he did/said but nothing has been confirmed 100%. I hear rumblings that he disrespected McKee in their consi bout. Did you see what he did?? Other than shake his hand/fist pump at the end of the bout but that crap happens all the time. We may have seen the last of AD in an Iowa singlet if the rumors are true.
David Carr is a class act and a deserving champion. He's got quite a bloodline. Yes indeed, his family is indeed wrestling royalty and that's cool that you were able hang with them. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasnt DC's dad and champ too??
Toughest guy in St Louis? Had to be Spencer. Cant even fathom doing what he did with no ACL's. I hope we havent seen the last of him.
I feel for Berge, I really do. He just cant get a break. I hope he's able to rebound and make a comeback.
I think we get the best of Iowa next year. We're already in their heads. Cael's got cards he hasnt played yet.
Detroit next year?? Would love too make it to one more ship and meet up with ya!!
Haha..thanks for your concern Kid, I do appreciate it. What I heard about DiSanto was he had disrespected a venue staff member while exiting his quarters match loss. She was directing him to a interview spot and he said something to the effect that if you tell me where to go one more time I'm going to kill you. This is all recycled information and the specifics can't be confirmed but something happened because Brands made a statement and forced AD to and apology. David Carr's father is Nate Carr, a 3X NC from Iowa State, undoubtedly the most college accomplished of all the Carrs, even Jimmy. My friend who I visited in Phx was his grade school coach and he got together with the all the wrestling Carrs when ISU wrestled Az. State. Ditto on Spencer, I AM that whuss.
Berge will be so good next year if he can stay healthy and yes, Cael and his guys are in Iowa's head.
See you in Detroit!!
@lakerie: I'm not a big fan of Desanto. I dont agree with his antics and personally think he's wrestling for Iowa because Drexel has higher academic standards and he couldnt cut it there. When I lost a match, the last thing I would have wanted was to have someone interview me immediately after coming off the mat;especially at Nats. You wrestled, I'm certain you can relate. But still, he needs to show some modicum of restraint and decency and that is where AD falls short. Iowa's habit of playing the "he has autism" card is wearing pretty darn thin is you ask me. If he said what has been reported; his career as a collegiate wrestler should be over.
If the Ivies participated, Nick Lee takes second. Team PSU wins the tournament.
Not sure about all of that. Cornell Yianni Diakomihalis (I think) is in Olympic training so questionalble he would have met Lee in finals IF they would have been in seperate brackets..... Yianni no doubt would have been a #1 seed, Eierman a #2 seed and Nick #3 assuming all would have been undefeated. Darmstadt at 197 could have made some noise for Cornell but not enough to upset Iowa's points. The only other Ivie contender I can think of would be Patrick Glory, a very good 125# from Princeton who probably would have met Lee but still would have been soundly beat. Iowa was just too good from top to bottom to NOT be NC's
Who cares, it's pretty sad when people try to tear down someone's accomplishment with "what ifs"
That Lee kid is one tough little dude I don’t think anybody could’ve beat him even with the injury plus wasn’t this his 2nd NC so he’s done it before. Lee is one of the best I’ve ever seen wrestle. Guys I only watched the NC what happened to the dude from VT that beat Joseph in 2019 I thought he was a freshman then?

Southern, that would be Mekhi Lewis from Virginia Tech. Unfortunatlely he injured his shoulder wrestling Wentzel from Pitt in a dual meet. He re-injured his shoulder in the NCAA tourney, won his bout the medically forfeitted the remaining tournment. Tough break for a very talented wrestler. Spencer Lee is a generational wrestler, one of a kind in the same atmosphere as Dan Gable, Kyle Dake and Cael Sanderson.
@lakerie. Thanks lake for all the information you know your stuff brother. Did the guy from Oklahoma State Johnny Hendricks a few years back go any further than college wrestling that dude was tough even though he lost to a kid from iowa in the NC his SR year. I figured he might’ve gone to the Olympics or mma? Thanks bud. I don’t remember the guy from iowa but Hendricks beat him a few times then lost the last time they wrestled?
I had to google him and this is what I got from Wiki on his career at Oklahoma State:
"After a 10–0 redshirt season in 2003, Hendricks finished 5th in the nation at 157 pounds in 2004, while compiling a 37–7 record. Hendricks moved up to 165 pounds for the next three seasons. He won the 2005 and 2006 Big 12 titles and NCAA Division I national championships.[6] He was 27–4 in 2005 and 29–1 in 2006.
Going into the 2007 national championships final match, Hendricks had a record of 34–0 for the season and had won his third straight Big 12 title along the way.[7] He suffered an upset loss to Mark Perry from the University of Iowa and finished 2nd in the nation. The four-time All-American for OSU finished with a college record of 159–13."
Quite a stud!! Looks like he did MMA after that.
@lakerie He went 18-8-0 in the UFC. 8KOs, 1 submission and 9 decisions. He was the UFC Welterweight champ for a while. He fought from about 2009-2017 before he retired.
@navylion. Dang brother time is gettin away I was thinking 7 or 8 years ago and Johnny Hendricks wrestled 13 or 14 years ago man time flies bye especially when you’re having fun lol
@sky: had you prefaced your comment with "In my opinion" it certainly would have lent more credence to your post. As it stands now, you're coming off as a douche bag.
