The defense isn't the problem boys...It's been the same old song with this program for many years...Great defenses and middling to terrible offenses...This guy needs to figure out that this ain't Ames...This is a blue blood historical college football program...The kumbaya bullshit ain't gonna work here...I like this guys process from what I have read about him but he gotta understand you can look fantastic making the chicken soup but if it tastes like shit ain't nobody gonna eat it...This guy better get this squared away and fast or they will be calling for his head after 1 season...

Becht absolutely sucked !! His performance was so bad that he should be benched. In fact every one of those former Iowa State players should be benched because not one of them showed they are worthy of wearing blue and white.
@psujoe 87 catches the ball we win when the game is on the line. I know he had a bad game but he did show up in nitty gritty time and 87 and 4 didn’t. It’s easier to play good when things are going good but what did you do in nitty gritty crunch time when a play gets you the win? Rocco did his part and 2 other guys didn’t get it done that’s what happened. It did stink it up most of the game though I’ll say that but in crunch time he was there..

The entire offense was bad not just 2 or 3 players. You could also say if they had put together only one sustained scoring drive we win this game. But we didn’t and what they did do was punt 7 times. The only reason we even had a chance at the end was because of the defense and the 3 turnovers. And why is Hansen taking touches away from Peoples? He sucks as bad as the Iowa State QB and WR’s.
What’s even sadder than the play of those former Iowa State players is that today I was informed we made no effort to retain Grunk, Reynolds and a bunch of other PSU players.
I guess they wanted to save some money up to pay all those great ISU players coming in.
Why waste time trying to retain Grunk and Reynolds when you had one of the most experienced QB’s and a TE coming over from ISU. That’s a joke. I’m not impressed with Rocco at all. All the talk about so and so not catching this or not catching that, he underthrew most of his receivers. And the Hail Mary? Yep let’s throw it out of the End Zone.
Rocco has a bad game but he still put us in position to get the win and a WR from Iowa St and a TE from Penn St didn’t make the catches in crunch time when the game was on the line. We have the talent but our studs didn’t step up their game when needed. It’s one game the goals are still in front of us we just can’t choke again.
IMO Homer Peoples could’ve put that game on his back had he been given the chance and we would’ve won the dude was getting 5 yards a pop and I could see he was capable of taking over that game but the coaches kept taking him out. I’m sure they’ll watch the tape and they’ll see they fudged up. I look for him to get fed the ball this Friday night.
Peoples was on the verge of busting that game wide open and they kept taking him out smh

I personally think 3 more losses is likely but if things get worse all that could really happen is maybe a coordinator change.
But man I’ve been watching a lot of college football highlights tonight and we look like we’re years away from being able to compete with some of these teams.

I have to agree with Homer here...I have been watching a lot of these upper tier teams...We are no way from a talent standpoint close to competing with these teams...After what went on yesterday I don't see how you can't be concerned...We are going to NW on friday night where they open their new stadium...We play like we did yesterday we are gonna get our clocks cleaned...
Y’all are seeing something I ain’t because i don’t see any dominant teams out there I see all teams struggling with not much depth. There may be a few teams a little better but not much better. We had Wisconsin right where ND had ‘em we just had an OC that didn’t know how to put them away or just to fudging stubborn to keep People’s in at RB because we could’ve road to victory easy had Peoples been given the ball 30 times big runs will come when you pick up 5 yards a carry and it wears the defense down. Rocco wasn’t the reason we lost the coaching was. QB’s ain’t going to play lights out every game and when the QB is having a bad game and the RB is gettin 5 yards a pop feed that mother Fudger and feed him until they stop it which I could see Wisconsin wouldn’t have been able too. Rocco did play bad but he also had 4 or 5 passes dropped and had we caught the ball his numbers and play look and are better. I don’t give a rats ass how good you play if you don’t show up when games are on the line when it’s crunch time. Thats what I seen Saturday.
I played the last 5 or 6 minutes of the Tennessee outback bowl when the goat Joe Paterno had a broke leg sitting in the press box and the goat was telling Galen Hall..run it again and kept telling Galen to run it again until Tennessee stopped it we were feeding Tony Hunt and he was punishing the Tennessee defense…that’s what you’re supposed to do if you want to win! Y’all remember that game?
Oregon lost, Michigan lost, Ohio State lost, Oklahoma stinks, USC lost. Texas is struggling at QB I guess Georgia and Alabama might look a little better but to think any team is dominant I just ain’t seeing it the transfer portal has leveled the playing field to where Vanderbilt will beat you if you don’t come ready to play and coach.
@southern-psu-fan really doesn’t matter if any teams are dominant. I just don’t see us having the players to compete with anyone in at least the top 15. Or is our problem coaching ? All I know is Campbell’s philosophy of doing everything the exact same way he did in Ames ain’t gonna fly in State College.
A week or 2 ago I told ya we were the most overrated team in the country and we probably still are today. There’s no logical explanation for us being ranked in the top 40.
@psujoe If Peoples had 30 carries we win that game by 3 TD’s and we’d probably have a different opinion on how good the team is. We’re a lot better than what we seen Saturday but probably not as good as I thought. As for the defense I’m not seeing us get after the QB and the Wisconsin QB was terrible but to his credit he did step up and make some plays to help get the win…Rocco did too but Rap didn’t catch the football. Rocco didn’t play good but when the game is on the line Rap has to catch that ball. #4 is killing me watching him not catch the football. They better settle on peoples or we’ll lose a few more games he’s the best RB and it’s not even close homer. Peoples looks like a starter that’s played before and the other 3 look like second and third string RB’s. I’m sorry that just what I see
1) 1 game is not a season nor a trend.
2) While TOP was 50/50 it was not 50/50 in the second half or especially the last quarter. 50/50 is an average. Half my body at 212 and the other half at -20 is hard and I suspect the D was spent when it was critical. If not the D choked? That is on the offensive 'organization' as a whole.
3) In any close game there are 10 plays that you can point to that would have won the game. It always seems one is picked. Can't tell you how many baseball games I lost because I made the last out 😥
4) I sure hope we don't put our thumb in our mouth because we lost a critical player...like last year. That would be on leadership.
Our hair is not on fire, it is a marathon, I hope. Lets go 1-0 this week 😎 NW is no push over. Had the NW Offense not played a horrible 1st Qtr they might have beat IU. NW was not impressive in any way but just solid, they will not roll over.
@underlion if you look at the stats their defense was on the field just as much as our. We gotta do a better job gettin to the QB…3rd and 30 inside their 10 and we don’t bring the house is just unacceptable and we let them pick up the first smh on that
