@psujoe. He also had help from the refs, replay booth and the big 10 just to be fair.
Yes I realize that but my point is the guy won a lot of games and won NC's and coaches that do that always turn into a scumbag in the eyes of certain people. He is a great coach and a winner that did it at multiple institutions.

When there's multiple documented incidents over years... then it's warranted.
Many more people think Urban is a slime than do Saban or Sweeney, both of whom have won more NCs recently than Meyer. Sure, Saban gets the whole "recruiting violations" thing, but never anything about affairs, keeping a wife abuser on staff, out of control players, etc. All of which is documented about Urban.

Roam, you forgot enabling murders...
@tsuga...I did say that Tsuga, I think the powers at ND, would not hire Urban ..I guess like southern was saying, He always seemed like a decent guy to me....and as far as I know, he didnt have any program on NCAA probation, did he? And the situation at OSU, The 3 game suspension seemed more like saving face, like they had to do something, but they really didnt have the goods to fire him, or suspend him for a season..
BTW, He coached at ND for awhile..so he knows what he'd be walking into...One slip up, he'd be gone and if he asked for his 4-6 academic concessions, as he's prone to do, he'd be refused..I know he reportedly left Fla in mess, and all about Aaron Hernandez Id be banking on facts he knows he couldnt do that at ND I must admit, I am tempted by that winning pedigree, but would have to really research him, if I was going to hire him..I didnt read all those links above yet, but will..
When did all the stuff with Hernandez come down? Are y’all saying Meyer knew Hernandez killed somebody and he did nothing? I thought he played with NE when that stuff happened?
AH has been linked to a few shootings before he came to the Patriots. As far as I know, none of the charges have stuck. Here is a link clearing him of one of those. There's a whole litany of stuff in regards to Hernandez while he was at Fla.
Here's a couple of links for your reading pleasure.
@culture-thrives: I guess I go by the old saying "where there's smoke there's fire". I didnt know UM coached at ND. Leran something new every day.
Hope your Holidays went well. What happened to your Eagles?? My beloved Packers are peaking at the right time!!!!

I never said Meyer knew he killed someone, I said he enabled Hernandez's above the law conduct. Hernandez failed multiple (like 4 or 5) drug tests, swept under the rug, failed to pay for drinks at a gainseville bar and punched and punctured a bar bouncers eardrum, handled by Urbs, no charges no discipline, selfies with glock guns, nothing, suspected of a shooting in Gainesville. All things overlooked by the guy you think is good for college football and that was before all the crap that went on at Ohio State.
There are days worth of reading on all of this, but like I said, I also got it from kids that I work woth that went to school there when Urbs and Hernandez/Tebow were there. A couple of them also say it is true about Urbs dipping his wick in a female coed which is one of the reasons for the departure from the school. FD has also mentioned that as well.
@tsuga...Urban coached at ND from 1996-2000, then took his first head coaching job at Bowling Green 2001...He was always highly thought of, however I think , in addition to his baggage from Fla, and OSU there may be some lingering bitterness with the ADM, when he interviewed for the ND head coach job, when various Gator websites had him already signed by Fla Whether thats true or not, I dont know, but many report he made some ridiculous demands, academic ones IM sure for prospective athletes, and used the interview to jack up his price..Thus there is a general perception that the ship has sailed, i.e., Urban to ND BUT who knows..
Holidays were great, hope yours were too...We're trying to balance protocols with seeing the family, and we did have the grand kids for dinner..
You would have to ask about the Birds, Im still trying to get over yesterday when as bad as we are, we held a 14- 3 lead after 2 possessions, and if we won, would play Wash for NFC East, and the title in worst NFL division in history...But a win,and a win next sunday would have only served to mask this teams problems, QB, and entire roster, in addition to being injury depleted, its not good enough. When giving the option by Eagles last summer, to hang in , make last payment on season tickets, or roll over my 50% to next yr, the grandson and I decided to roll it over that was a very smart decision given the surge of the virus, and the terrible quality of play
To be honest, I have no idea how to rebuild this team...theyre aging in many spots, oft injured, in a huge salary cap whole, owe Carson Wentz at least 60-70 mil , in summary its a mess...and reportedly the owner is tied at the hip to his GM, Howie Roseman, who has passed up a chance to draft Davonta Adams, DK Metcalf, Justin Jefferson, for starters..Being the Birds are done, ILl be rooting for the Pack to represent NFC. Not necessarily a Packer fan like you but only team I'll root for after Birds are eliminated that goes back to my admiration for Bart Starr, and Lombardi's Packers..
@culture-thrives. You think all that’s bad you ought to come to Atlanta and see what it’s like being a dirty birds fan lol

That's funny because just a few short years ago the whole fanbase was touting Roseman as the greatest GM anywhere and Wentz as the next Tom Brady.

@psujoe..I think Howie was Exec of the year ...but this roster now is BRUTAL...Still playing, and paying aging stars like Jason Peters, Desean Jackson, (he plays one snap, and is injured), Alshon Jeffery, complemented by guys playing in defensive secondary who have no business being on an NFL roster..As I said, its a mess..
@southern-psu-fan just pointing out what they were saying then and now. And it's not that Steeler fans don't like other fans it's actually the other way around.
