That's the way I feel, BT. I'll admit, I ain't thrilled with what's happening as far as who our HC is bringing in & letting go, but who the heck am I? I'm trying my best to keep an open mind, give the guy the benefit of the doubt and just wait & see what he puts on the field when the games begin. Hopefully, my hand wringing is all in vain, lol!
@psujoe Me too. If I want to watch a circus, I'll go to Ringling Bros!
Big time college football has become pro football with no salary cap and everybody is a free agent after the season ends...It doesn't get any more wide open than that...That is why I say it is imperative that the program find some money guys willing to fund this thing because if they can't find anybody to fund this thing they are going to fall behind the well funded programs in a big hurry...
Kinda reminds me of backyard football back in the day. Teams picked based on who was chosen captains and who had first pick, then the trickle down. Lol. Everyday a different team composition.
@southern-psu-fan What the heck are we doing? A program with top 10 NIL funds competing with Buffalo, Troy, Wyoming, Tiffin and James Madison for recruits is insane. Indiana is kicking our @sses in the portal and on the recruiting trail.
My brothers, the first thing MC did when he got the job was show Jim Knowles the door so that gets the man 2 years right off the top 😂 I trust the guy and imo he’s doing a great job with the transfer portal we rank 3rd according to 247 sports. He’s watched the tape on Tyson Huff and he likes what he sees. Only around 10 to 12 guys from Iowa St will start but we are building depth with a lot of these dudes. We got some studs from James Franklin MC just filling in more at positions with dudes he believes can play. I honestly believe we’re in good hands and a lot of wins is on the way baby.
Hope your right, Southern. From what I've seen so far, I think he'll need at least 2yrs, lol! We shall see brother.
They are? The have 4 kids rated 90 or above and the rest ranked lower. Recruits from Tulsa, Texas State, and Tulane. Last year TSU, Appalachian State, UAB, WKU, etc. etc.@southern-psu-fan What the heck are we doing? So why is it all OMG amazing portal pick ups for them but for us the same schools suck?
@roaminglion I never said OMG amazing picks and I couldn’t care less about what they did last year. This year they are kicking our ass.
They are going to be NC contenders again next season and it won’t be because they picked up guys from Tiffin or Buffalo
@psujoe : Deep breaths buddy....deeeeeep breaths. What Im hearing is that a lot of these guys are going to be scout team players. While we did have more than enough wiffs on some of the bigger named portal players, keep in mind that there were more than a few that didnt fit the mold of what Campbell is looking for. A "me first" dude isnt going to cut it here at PSU.
PSU wrestles Iowa this week at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
@thepakid I don’t have a problem with most of the signings because of our lack of depth. The things that didn’t happen with PSU and the portal are what has me worried.
They are kicking our ass with 3 guys rated above 90? Really? We have more than that, so what exactly are you basing this "ass kicking" on?@roaminglion I never said OMG amazing picks and I couldn’t care less about what they did last year. This year they are kicking our ass.

I want to believe that Campbell and his staff are better at finding the hidden talent than Franklin was. I know that this is two different sports but I can remember when Cael first came aboard as our wrestling coach and his first move was to let Bubba Jenkins go. Bubba Jenkins was one of the leaders of our team but his training philosophy and Coach's were vastly different. Also, there was a new recruit that Coach was pretty high on that wrestled the same weight as Bubba. There was another team-mate named Luke Macchiaroli that was asked to leave. Bubba Jenkins ended up transferring to Arizona State and ended up earning a national championship at his weight. The guy he ended up beating was none other than David Taylor. He pinned him.
I honestly think that MC is the right guy to turn our program around. Next year's schedule is in our favor. Lets see how that plays out.
@thepakid Just not seeing the level of investment we were told would happen and right now is the time it should be happening. Or are we on a multi year rebuild?
@thepakid I watched that NC match. dang time flies. I believe David Taylor is on the rise as a HC Oklahoma State has always had good wrestlers. I remember a dude they had name Johnny hendricks quite a few years back and that dude was hard to beat he won a couple of NC’s but lost in the finals his Sr. Year to a dude from Iowa and Johnny got up and showed some class and shook his hand. If I remember correctly Johnny had beat the dude from Iowa quite a few times but lost in that match. Them 2 dudes may have been relatives they was some kind of kin stuff going on anyway. Some of the things I can remember lol

You've got a great memory!!
Johny "big rig" Hendricks lost to Iowa's Mark Perry 4-3 in 2007. That was a great match. I was still a Jr in HS then!!
My years at PSU started in 2008. I remember Mark Perry was actually hired by Sunderland as a coach at PSU. He had quite an impact on Quentin Wright and Frank Molinaro. He was actually put in charge of that entire freshman class. I learned a lot from him. He mopped the mat with my sorry A$$ many times.
Cant believe its been almost 20 years
Penn State has added another transfer defensive lineman from Iowa State, per a report from On3’s Ryan Snyder.
Ikenna Ezeogu, a 6-5, 285-pounder who was listed as a redshirt junior on the Cyclones’ 2025 roster, started 12 games for ISU last season. He tallied 25 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, seven quarterback hurries and a pass breakup.
@southern-psu-fan What does it all mean? Mostly 3*'s in and out. We lost some 4*'s and a 5* that looks to be a HS Recruit.
Coach likes who he brought in. Didn't like some that left I suppose.
One of the 4/5* guys that left hasn't been a starter in 3 years. Not sure why a guy that doesn't play is rated that high, so I don’t care that he left.@southern-psu-fan What does it all mean? Mostly 3*'s in and out. We lost some 4*'s and a 5* that looks to be a HS Recruit.

@underlion the dudes that jumped ship were going to leave regardless so we’re very fortunate that MC has been able to replace them and then some. We would be in big time trouble if Pat Kraft didn’t work some magic on gettin MC to Penn St. you seen the recruiting class and what happened and them kids wouldn’t be ready to play for a year or 2 at best and MC replaced them with dudes ready to play today and be good enough to win the big 10 championship and make the playoffs. I’m feeling real good underlion because I promise you, James Franklin ain’t laughing like he was because we’ve already rebounding and did it getting better.
@southern-psu-fan A 3* that you have coached has to be worth a 4* HS Prospect. And the way the portal is HS prospects have what chance of starting at their original school? Long term a 3* that has played major college is probably worth more than a 4* HS recruit, definitely worth more short term. I was surprised how many non ISU players were already committed.
JF inherrited a dumpster fire where the players had quit. He is going to have a harder time rebuilding with his recruits and transfers than MC will. I have VT at 2 wins, 5 losses and 5 toss ups next year. He will be doing good to be bowl eligible. Hard to predict his results. I expect PSU is more predictable and ends with a better record.
Most of the ISUeast guys will be gone in a year or two. I can very well understand wanting to have folks you know around you when starting a new venture. Been There, done that myself. What's the W/L record that will make the nay sayers happy? 7-6 this year, 3 B1G wins, not that tough to improve upon.
