The prevent defense and the "bend don't break" mentality suck!   Holding the opponent to 5 first downs and 53 total yards is the way to play defense.

Thank you VaTech for hiring Brent Pry!

4th and goal from the 31 and Auburn decides to rush 2 and use a spy to contain the QB ……… and they lost.

That’s the kind of soft defense that plagued Penn State for years and frustrated the fans before Manny D arrived.

Teams that play soft get beaten.

Exactly! Why on God's green turf, if your opponent has to go 31 yards in one play, do you only rush two defensive linemen and allow the QB, ALL FREAKIN' AFTERNOON to wait for a man to come open in the end zone?

@been-there-ii

Play your normal defense.  What are the chances of gaining 31 yards on any given play against a standard defensive set??

Hey SPF, Pats can't even beat the Giants these days. On the bright side, I think they have the 1st pick in the draft locked in!

Funny how the "genius" looks like a dunce without Brady at QB.

@rip  lol y’all killing me. Just cause, Belichick imo has earned one more year just to see if he can get things turned around. All the great ones go down sooner or later.

In the end BB and TB worked it out together meaning TB was generational, but not all HCs would have had the same success as those two had together.

And how many HCs have won multiple Superbowls with different QBs?

Um... no. There was no "then you don't" with Walsh. He retired from the NFL after winning the Super Bowl.

He also proved he could do it without Montana at Stanford... when Stanford was horrible

It's not about winning multiple SB's with QB's, it's thst fact that his record for 4-5 year STUNK before Brady, he missed the playoffs the one year Brady was hurt, and his record STINKS since Brady.

Without Brady, there is 11 years of Head Coaching where he is borderline awful. That's why I hatr it when people call him a "Genius". Load of BS, he had the GOAT.

If Andy Reid is able to win 1 or 2 more, he's better than Belechik in my book. 4 NFC championships with an average QB in Philly, tons of success with Alex Smith in KC, and now Super Bowls with Mahomes. Now there's a coach who has shown he can be successful with different QB's.

Yeah I don't think BB was the GOAT, it just worked out for the both of them during their time up, and clearly TB made BB look damn good.

There has been a few really good QBs who never won a SB, was it because of the HC, team etc.. fact is, it just didn't work out. Who would have every thought that Marino, Kelly, Tarkenton, Fouts, would never win a SB somewhere?

TB is a GOAT, but he didn't win 6 SBs by himself, granted without him there may not have even been 1 SB in NE. IMO, that organization as a whole just jelled at the right time b/c all the pieces were there during the dynasty run; talk about all the stars and moons aligning, it did from star players, to role players, to TB working the financials, to players buying into BBs system (I don't know how Gronk survived under BB, maybe BB took the approach that JoePa took with Matt Millen, lol). I was never a Pats fan but I appreciated what they did as an organization in achieving what they did; and the cheat shit, that's for somebody else to chew on and have it live in their head rent free. Hell 99% of teams could do same or more and still turn a Prime Rib into a piece of shoe leather!

The way I now see it is "The Patriot Way" was nothing more than "The Brady Way". They could just give that guy mediocre weapons and stack the defense all they wanted.

Did any offensive player ever leave the Patriots and excel? They always declined. Considerably. Except for Brady, he left and won a Super Bowl and the Patriots pretty much tanked.

I just dont see it. Brady leaves and wins another one. BB sucks before and after Brady. Not a coinecidence.

Not saying he's a terrible coach, but man he gets a lot of undue credit.

I hear ya Roam. BB has had one career and three races; 1st before TB, 2nd with TB, third after TB. As I previously stated, the horse has run it's last race, imo.

Still gotta wonder, how did Gronk survive under BB, lol!

So bill walsh winning at Stanford counts but Belichick taking Cleveland to the playoffs and winning SB’s as a DC doesn’t count?

What did Bill Parcels win without BB? BB went on to win 6 more SB’s and played in a total of 9 more. Dude has got to old just like all the other great coaches did. When BB got to NE Tom Brady did help but the defense was pretty dang good a few years and that’s why they won a couple of the SB’s. It just wasn’t Tom Brady BB built the whole team and he deserves 100% of the credit. In his prime wherever BB went SB were coming to town. I don’t believe he would’ve won that many SB’s without Brady but I can’t prove that but one thing I can prove is he’s got 9 rings as a Head Coach and assistant coach and has been part of 12 SB’s. That’s not luck. What do you always tell me? It’s what you can prove on the field. He’s got old now and imo he needs to retire.

Just read on USA Today, that Colo's Sanders was the most sacked QB in major college football this yr. He's been sacked 52 times and unfortunately, has a broken back to prove it. So much for Neon's grand experiment, for this yr anyway. See what he does next season, 'cause they aren't going bowling.

@been-there-ii He's gonna be a total bust that doesn't realize every time he opens his big mouth the target on his back gets bigger. He reminds me of when the Washington Redskins were signing all those free agents and over paying for them back in the early 2000's. The more guys they signed the more people hated them and the more fired up opponents were when playing them.
