Interesting video on how Ciarrocca dumbed down the offense last week for Clifford. I guess this is where we're at as an offense right now -- which is more concerning than encouraging to me. If he's the starter next season, Clifford can't just be a Game Manager if we want to compete for a Big Ten title. He's gonna have to make plays to win games.

He made some plays last week and didn’t turn the ball over and we beat Michigan let’s do it again today and beat Rutgers!

He will have an entire off-season to work with the new OC on the offense. You have to remember that he wasn't able to work with him at all up and through August.

New OC and Clifford at least seem to be figuring things out somewhat.

Dumbing down an offense that's already as simplistic as they come (do this but if it isn't there do this instead) for a player that will soon be going into his 3rd year as a starter sounds so Moronelli and speaks volumes about this overpaid coaching staff.

Call it dumbing down if you like but going from a high percentage of RPO to a significantly lower percentage can't be dumbing it down?  Now if he reduced the 'new offense' he is installing then that can be simpler.  Having the QB run the ball more is definitely dumb.  No throws to freshman RB's is dumb.  After about 20 minutes of play it was obvious the Rutgers game was going to be dumb.  Maybe by 'dumbing down' he meant not giving the game away 🙄

Interview a coach, they have to say something, often meaningless.  I remember the part of Bull Durham where Costner is teaching Meat.  'Learn your cliches, they are your friend'

MSU will be more of a challenge, though they seem to be having problems similar to us.  Our offense needs to be less predictable to beat a better team.

If dumbing down means playing smash mouth football and being successful, go for it, in fact, work a full back into the scheme. On another note, maybe dumbing down is taking it down to that level and then adding the tweaks etc, might not be a bad way to get all the guys on the same page especially doing so the remainder of the year as it would take some mental pressure off the guys. Like the saying goes; clear your mind and your ass will follow.

Maybe our OC is subscribing to the Wacker school of game planning.  When Jim Wacker was the HC at Minnehaha, he was asked at a pre- game presser whether he planned to pass more in that Saturday's game.  His response was - "I don't know. I figure if we don't know what we're going to do, the other team sure as hell won't".

Damn, just spat my coffee out when I got to the punch line! Good one, Bob.

I honestly think the OC was running plays that he thought would win the games the last 2 weeks and it’s worked. 2 freshmen RB’s and a QB that doesn’t take care of the ball is hard to win with. I didn’t have a problem with the play calling yesterday because we won the game and just from what I saw the OC put Clifford in position not to beat us turning the ball over. The defense is also playing better because we’re not turning the ball over. The coaches are just riding this ship to finish 5-5 and if the wins look ugly or boring they don’t care and neither do I just win the games and get to 5-5 with momentum going into next year.

When you have the better team like OSU, Clemson, or AL you can play 'no mistake' football like we did against Rutgers.  Joe did it for years.  Now to beat the big boys we better have more.

We beat IN and IA playing basic white.  MD is still a great disappointment to me.

So yes I agree Southern and 61.
