Last 40 years, PSU is an average 8 win/season team; sad but true.
Its gonna take a Saban like hire to get it back on track e.g. 60,70, 80s; and Saban wasn't great at other stops but damn if he hasn't been at Bama.
JF is not the answer, but he can be good for a 10-12 win season every now and then when other teams are down.
I really don't get the problem with the O'/D'lines unless he just doesn't get it himself.
IMO, in some ways the bigness of PSU is over his head, hence he'd probably do well at UCF, FIA, Ga Tech, etc..
Just some rambling thoughts.

IMO Penn St has been a top 15 team the last 20 years maybe top 10 probably around 10th. Nick Saban also was winning 10 games at Michigan St and winning NC’s at LSU and he’s doing it again at Alabama. Slick Nick is one of a kind and odds are they won’t be another one but we had the goat Joe Paterno Oklahoma had the great Barry Switzer. Man it’s hard replacing great coaches just ask Florida St they had the great Bobby Bowden. Let’s let the season finish out and if we win 10 or 11 games that’s top 10 something very hard to do. It’s not the end of the season, it was just an ass kicking sometimes it happens.

Yes ass kickings happen, but coaches are judges on how their teams deal with the losses. Outside of 2016, Franklin's teams have generally reacted poorly to losses.
@roaminglion 2017 we lost a close one to Ohio St and Michigan St we had a stupid penalty that give them an easy FG to win. 2019 we got robbed at Minnesota imo and just got beat against Ohio St. 2020 and 2021 were disaster seasons and this year we’re 5-1 with a great chance to win 11 games but I understand what y’all are saying. I definitely wouldn’t have given him a new contact until after this year but it’s water under the bridge now we’re stuck with him for 5 or 6 more years hope we get better.
Penn State needs to win Saturday night or they are looking at a 6-6 or 7-5 season at best. This is just where they are at this point in the season. They have done absolutely nothing since that win over Auburn. They are regressing week after week and I am hoping last weekend they just hit rock bottom. They need to nip this in the bud now and start playing the kind of football they are well capable of playing....and this starts with the coaching staff. Last weekends loss was just as much of the coaching as it was the team not executing well. Penn State is not a running team, they need to live and die with the short pass the rest of this season and I think they can keep EVERY GAME - YES, and I mean Ohio State too - CLOSE. Last week would have been a different game had the offense split the ToP with Michigan. The defense kept them in this game and just collapsed by being on the field for 32 minutes. The last three Big 10 teams that faced Michigan ALL had success with short passes....mostly to the left side of Michigan's defense. Did they not scout Michigan?? I said the same thing last year vs Ohio State. Oregon scored ALL 5 of their TD's against Ohio States defense right side. ALL of Penn States points were against Ohio States defense right side. But yet, we kept running and passing against their left side!!! Guess what???? Ohio States defense is in a similar situation again this year. However, JF will try to establish a running game, end up facing 3rd and long instead of throwing short passes and facing 3rd and short.
Ohio State is good! But watch what happens when they face good teams. I doubt they cover vs Iowa this weekend, if Tago is healthy when they play Maryland that kid will keep the Terps in the game and I think Michigan is a toss up. ND is by far the best team Ohio State has played so far and they posted 177 yards of passing ( 10 for 18). They should of kept passing instead of running 30 times for 76 stupid yards!!!! Ohio States pass defense is subject and this is where you can keep them honest!!!
We need to get by Minny first, but I am not convinced Penn State can't hang with Ohio State.....IF THESE COACHES DO THEIR DANG JOBS!!!!!!

I ain’t worried about Minnesota, Maryland or Indiana we just need to come ready to play and we will win. Yes these teams can beat ya every once in a while but these teams don’t have the horses to beat us imo. Minnesota had a better chance of beating us had we won against Michigan they’re coming to a hornets nest Saturday night baby and they gone get that ass kicked just wait and see. IMO we ain’t as bad as we played against Michigan and Michigan isn’t as good as we made ‘em look it’s just one of those games where you can’t get anything going and all the freshman we had on the field played like freshman, it happens.

It will be a beautiful night in happy valley and the white out. All day to tailgate. Penn state should take care of business. I just want to warn you that Minnesota is no joke. They can run the ball down your throat just as Michigan did. It's a 5 point game per Vegas. So, it can go south in a heartbeat.

I retired!! You can't predict a football game when you have an unpredictable coach, QB and a predictable bad Oline once again!
The last time Michigan scored 40 points against us was back in 2016. The next game we beat Minny in OT and knock off #2 Ohio State two weeks later.
Hopefully History will repeat itself!!
