Not really going through them, but just posting that I believe we'll be around #14 and the 4th two loss team down on the list.
LSU will be the top 2 loss team, having just beat Alabama. However, I think they are over inflated and not being penalized for a drubbing by Tennessee like we were at Michigan. Not to mention it was AT HOME, not on the road like our loss. Add to it, they also lost to FSU... which is worse than our losses.
Alabama will be somewhere arounf #10, because well "Alabama". Though I'm a fan, I wasn't seeing it this year for the Tide. I called them losing to Tennessee, and I thought it was a good chance they'd lose last night. Not sure they'll beat Ole Miss either. They are running on reputation at this point, their passing attack is a shell of last year and their defense isn't great. Shouldn't be this high.
Utah will be just behind them, and ahead of us by a spot. Why? The USC win, though USC honestly has a good amount of issues. Just squeaking by some teams that aren't good. Their losses are worse, but they do have a top 10 win.
Penn State will be #13 or #14 probably. Just no good teams on the schedule other than our two losses. One we looked terrible, and one we looked good until the last 8 minutes. Is what it is, but we just won't be able to get a signature win this year. If Minnesota wins out, that would give us a ranked win. Pretty much the only chance of getting such a win.
The Big Ten, outside of 3 teams in the East, just isn't very good.
As of today imo you have Georgia, Ohio St and Michigan then everybody else. We’re as good as 4th-15th but imo we’re probably around 5th or 6th. Did you see Texas jump back in at 18th with 3 losses lol. USC and Oregon are way overrated but I guess they only have one loss. Does anybody actually believe TCU can beat Tennessee? I don’t
I was looking at that too Roam, 4 teams ahead of us lost, but we only moved up 1 spot. Kansas St. fell below us, but the other 3 teams that lost were 1 loss Clemson and Tennessee, plus 2 loss Alabama. I agree with Southern, thought we would move up a bit higher than that, but what can we do???? Just keep winning, and winning big, in this day and age a 1pt win is almost treated like a loss to the haters.
Penn State is ranked right where they should be. In fact, one could say that NC State should be ahead of Penn State as they are a 2 loss team with a win over a ranked team - which Penn State doesn't and won't have this year during the regular season. I think USC is overrated, they don't have a win a over a ranked team and as far as I am concerned, they should be at #14, behind Utah and pushing Penn State back to #15.
What is troubling today is, Alabama will take Penn States spot in the Orange Bowl unless they ( Bama ) lose again. And if they lose, I am not sure that will put Penn State back in the Orange Bowl contention.....didn't look at it close enough. Of course, Penn State still has to win out as well.
As of today, I don't think Penn State is capable of beating any of the current 10 teams.....as of today. BUT, three more games to go and a few extra weeks of practice before a NY6 bowl game if they indeed make one.....I think they will be ready to give any of them of a run for their money. They made a ton of mistakes against Michigan, players and coaches both. They didn't make as many against Ohio State, but the ones they ( and more like he ) did make, were just down right nasty ones. I thought the coaches did a nice job, it was really execution on the players ends that cost that game....IMO.
I think what we are witnessing, or last what I am hoping, is a team of young and great talent ( and lots of it ) maturing and maturing quickly. I know they beat up on a bad Indiana team, but that was a lot young names that did that. Names that are coming back next year and not names just going through the motions to end their careers at Penn State. Drew Allar? Yep, this kid is going to be the real deal. Might take a little to get started, but he is going to have some of the best play makers - BAR NONE - that any team is going to have next season.
I think Penn State is going to have a BEAST OF AN OFFENSE next year and the DEFENSE is going to be just fine. So let the rankings fall any any way they want to over the next few weeks, I don't think we see a two loss Penn State team next season and a ranking outside of the top #10 for the next few years!
And I truly believe this!! And I hope that top#10 ranking comes at the end of THIS SEASON!!
GO STATE!!!!!!!
We still need to figure out how to beat ranked teams. Notre Dame did it against Clemson.

Playing ranked ACC teams woukd help lmao
You know what I think? I think Penn State just started a winning streak that is going to expand to 11-0 before they face Ohio State in the Shoe next year. Unfortunately, they will most likely ONLY face one ranked team between now and then which will be whoever they play in their bowl game this year. Their remaining schedule and the beginning of next years schedule just doesn't have anybody really good on it....maybe Illinois gets a a top 25 ranking to start....we shall see. Personally, I hope Penn State plays Bama in the Citrus Bowl vs making a NY6 bowl game. I think that loss against Ohio State WOKE this team up and they are about to become a beast! These kids know how good they can be (now) and I think they are going to let it all hang out the rest of this season. 3 more games and a month of practice before a bowl game is a lot of time and experience for a young team with rising talent to get even better.
If Michigan and Ohio State both make the playoffs, Penn State could end up playing Oregon in the Rose bowl. That would be another match up I would like to see. I don't think we will see any player bolting for the draft if they play Bama or Oregon in a bowl game. The only guy I can see bolting is Porter and I think he would play in either of those two games.
I wanted to see how well Penn State rebounded after that Ohio State loss and they rebounded well. Yep, that was a bad Indiana team, but I think is was more about this team realizing they were able to hang to with a very good Ohio State team and the only thing between them having a powerful team is just TIME. I will be shocked if they lose to any unranked team over the next 10 games! I don't think this team is going to let this happen now. This Penn State team is going to beat ranked teams in the future! They took their two licks this season, but that is coming to an end!
GO STATE!!!!!!!
We got beat by #2 and #3 and so would’ve everybody else from 4th on back so we deserve that 4th spot just as much as any of the other teams. Big 12 stinks just like the PAC and ACC. One thing we ain’t done and that’s lost to any team ranked out of the top 5 who else can say that?
Losing two games and not beating one single ranked team this season simply did Penn State in. Win out and they will play a ranked team and maybe a good one. If your not playing for the National Title, #5 through #15 doesn't really matter.
Like I have been saying the last few days, I don't think you will need to worry about posting this stuff next year. All you will need to worry about is whether you have Penn State at #1, #2, #3 or #4 when they travel to the Shoe next year!
GO STATE!!!!
Only 4 teams can make the playoffs so that leaves about 130 teams left out. Finishing 5th-10th does matter especially in Penn States case because finishing outside the top 10 can hurt Penn St recruiting. PA is still an ok state to recruit in but it ain’t what it use to be James Franklin has to work harder going out of state to get a lot of his players. Ohio St, Georgia, Texas, LSU, USC, Florida Alabama. Clemson and a few others have a leg up on Penn St in football recruiting and that’s just the facts but because James Franklin is a great recruiter he’s still running with ‘em. Cael Sanderson knew exactly what he was doing taking the Penn St wrestling job he new Pa was one of the top states for high school wrestling just like Saban going to LSU and Alabama. Put these 2 coaches at schools where they don’t get the best and they’re just good coaches not elite coaches. I got proof, what was their records before they went to the schools where they knew they would have the best athletes? Slick Nick and Sanderson are elite as long as they have elite athletes. Stick Cael at Iowa St and Saban at Michigan State and they become good coaches again and not elite. What did I tell y’all about LSU when they get a great coach and look they’re already beating Alabama in Kelly first year baby. Hey Joe, how did you beat the great Bobby Bowden 7 times and Joe said, I had better players. Man Bobby, how did you win all those football games, Bobby said, I had the best players. Penn St would be average at best if coach Day was the coach at Penn St but he looks elite at Ohio St. James Franklin is as good as it gets, it’s just harder to win NC’s at Penn St vs all the schools I mentioned earlier in this post. If it can be done james Franklin will get it done he just gotta get the right QB and a true freshman that’s a prostyle QB with a struggling OL ain’t the right guy this year this is just the truth baby I’m telling ya. Finish this season 11-2 and keep the recruits coming in and James Franklin will get this thing fixed. Just like Clemson, James Franklin Fudged up on a few QB’s, it happens.
Agreed, Southern. To be an elite coach you need the horses. I still like Lou Holtz's response when asked about his coaching experience at William & Mary. He said it was a beautiful campus, but they had too many Mary's and not enough Williams to field a good football team!
That’s right BK, all the top 10 coaches in all of the NFL and college football could’ve had the Penn State head coaching job after BOB left for Houston all they would’ve had to do is make a phone call but guys like Belichick, Saban, Miles and Meyer didn’t want the challenge that James Franklin hit head on and that’s just the facts baby.
We better hope Texas knocks off TCU this week or we’re going to have another lightweight in the playoffs again. Man we need 12 or 16 team playoffs.
You won’t hardly ever see ole southern pulling for Texas but we need them to beat TCU we need 2 big 10 teams in the playoffs then that would put us in the Rose Bowl assuming we win out. It would be nice to win the Rose Bowl again. I don’t believe any of our players would sit out the Rose Bowl

I'd rather have a matchup that more people care about, than just a specific bowl game. IMO it would be better for us to go to the Orange Bowl and play Alabama than the Rose and play UCLA or Utah.
@roaminglion I thought we’d be playing Oregon but I’ll take Alabama in a minute. My bad
I read something today that projects Penn State vs Clemson in the Orange Bowl. That would be a nice match up!

Yeah, I'd like that one too. Nice
Game against Clemson would be awesome. They cleaned our clock last time we played. I still want revenge lol
We need to take care Biz on Saturday and keep heading in the right direction! I am hoping this team can see what lies ahead of them! They have a lot to play for, so there is no better of a time than now to get things rolling!!!
GO STATE!!!!
@blushoes Stop. ND also lost AT HOME to Marshall and a Stanford team that had only beaten Colgate prior to the ND win. If you want to trade losing to MAC teams at home to beating a ranked team, good luck selling that to the rest of us.
If OSU and Michigan both make the CFP (which is very possible) then PSU (if 10-2) will most likely go to the Rose Bowl, correct?
@lionbacker99 When Suzie Blue Shoes says, "We", I just figure he's talking about Rutgers.
