Definitely NOT a fan...no matter what year, team, coach, mid west noon kicks (i.e. 11 am there) are NOT good to PSU.

Hopefully the bye will help the coaches establish some sort of routine to minimize the effect of this start time!  On the other hand......

Being the old school fan that I am, I like 1 PM starts for all games.  That just isn't going to happen today.  The worst thing about 12:00 starts is that I have to start my Sat. morning bike ride early enough to get home in time.  And it's getting chilly that early in the morning at this time of the year even in Atlanta.

I'm with you old school fart.  I remember getting my season ticket packet in the mail right before the season started and every single game had the start time (1 PM or 1:30 PM)  printed right on the ticket.  No TBA or waiting for the networks to decide.  Heck, we hardly ever were televised!  Somehow the games seemed so much more fun back then, no TV timeouts and live music by the Blue Band!  Those were the days my friends....

Noon game’s on thenEast Coast don’t bother me as I am usually up and doing what needs to be done anyway. And I stand a far better chance of not dozing off!  As for the concerns that 11 am local is too early, I think that give us the advantage assuming g the boys keep their body clock on our time zone. That’s what we did many years ago when the Blue Band went to Norte Dame.

I don't understand.  What does kickoff time have to do with winning? For how well penn state performed,  should not matter.  If any team will destroy their perfect record,  it will be OSU. They have a GEM QB.

That was old school fan, not old school fart.  I think you are inferring too much.  Oh, alright, you are most likely correct with your inference. lol

Sorry bout that old school fan!  When you're an old school fart like I am, the eyes start going (among other body parts too).  I guess I'll have to get some coke bottle glasses like someone else once had, LOL.

When I was in Ireland for the Croke Park game (vs UCF) my cousin in San Diego had to get up at 4 or 5 AM to catch  the game.

I don’t know how it impacts a team preparation, FT, but I see a lot of folks on other sites griping about having to play before noon. They seem to think the teams start slow or something, but believe it has more to do with less time to effectively prime themselves tailgating.

I graduated in '80, I think I remember a couple of late afternoon games when they had truck in and erect lights.

I read Minnesota was actually offered a night game in prime-time but opted for the Noon start. They MUST have thought the early start would benefit the team and their chances to win.

From SBNATION:

"There are reports that the administration at Minnesota declined the option of a night game, which, if true, is puzzling considering the undeniable appeal of playing under the lights at TCF Bank Stadium in a high-stakes game with this kind of build-up"

Yeah, that was when we started getting on TV more often.  If I remember correctly it was 1982 and CBS brought in portable lights to televise the game against Nebraska.  The lights kind on hung from cranes stationed at the 4 corners of the end zones.  After the game they rotated the lights to shine out in the parking lots so we could find our vehicles!  By the way, it was a heck of a game, PSU 27 - Nebraska 24!

Minnesota? Really? Again,  I find it hard to believe they would be of any threat to lose. My preference? Nothing better to seeing lights on at 7, 8pm. Just can't beat a night game

Got to love FT... Says we will lose going into games, then when we win the team we beat wasn't good. 8-0 Minnesota ranked #13? Bah, no contest they suck so it isn't a big win.

Ain't that the truth!?! Tighten will continue this practice until PSU loses a game, then he'll be here to boast he's "right again".
