Think about this... If James Franklin is able to win out, pulling off the upset of OSU it would make him 6-6 vs. the 3 best teams in the division over the past 4 years with 2 divisional championships. Hopefully it would lead to a conference championship as well.
Even if we lose to OSU, that is 5-7 vs. OSU, UM, & MSU over 4 years. Looks a lot different than the 6-12 or 5-13 stat people will probably try to continually throw out there, as if coaching with 50 schollies and at a distinct disadvantage for 2+ years is just an "excuse".
He's done a great job, and while I still think he and his staff need to get better at in game decision making (Franklin himself has even stated this), overall he was the right man for the job.
2016 Ohio State was a turning point for us, brought us back to being a great team. If we are able to beat them this year, I think it would be another transition from great to elite.
The playing field is more fair now and we see the results....8-0 ranked 5th in the polls
You all know, OSU in the shoe is a tough nut to crack! Earlier in the season, I would have thought we don't stand a chance, but after the last 3 games, well maybe we can pull it off. Go Lions! However, first things first - Beat the Gophers!
It’s always easy to criticize a coach. Most of ridiculous comments come from people that have never coached and or never played. I become astounded when I read some of the Facebook posts knocking Coach Franklin. However, I do feel that some of those folks are Ohio State operatives with the goal of casting dispersions over PSU hoping potential recruits see them and turn away from Penn State.
As a fan it’s fine to express frustration at times. That’s what fans do.
Bottom line, I agree 100% with roam and I too like Coach James Franklin.
