"Until we start winning these games"Why does it matter though? 12 team playoff and recruiting is over anywaywhy?@southern-psu-fan they better want it. IMO this isn’t just another bowl game, we desperately need this win.
The narrative
So you think another loss to a top 15 team won’t affect recruiting in the long run? We will never recruit at an elite level until we start winning these games.
No one will care about the Peach Bowl if we make the playoff next year. No recruit is going to look at PSU and say "They made the playoff, but lost to Ole Miss so nope"
@roaminglion Lmao , yes you’re right no one cares that PSU can’t beat top 15 teams and it has no effect on recruiting LMAO !! And winning your bowl game doesn’t add any momentum for the next season.
Yes, a 2025 recruit is not going to care that we lost to Ole Miss if we are in the playoff next year.@roaminglion Lmao , yes you’re right no one cares that PSU can’t beat top 15 teams and it has no effect on recruiting LMAO !! And winning your bowl game doesn’t add any momentum for the next season.

LMAO !! To say that a recruit doesn’t care about Penn State’s reputation for not being able to defeat top teams is just plain idiocy !!
Recruits do care and that is why the teams that win continue to get the top recruits.
Sure thing, a recruit will really care about a game of optouts and backups not winning the peach bowl when the current team is in the playoff. Makes sense.Yes, a 2025 recruit is not going to care that we lost to Ole Miss if we are in the playoff next year.@roaminglion Lmao , yes you’re right no one cares that PSU can’t beat top 15 teams and it has no effect on recruiting LMAO !! @roaminglion keep making excuses. This game. Today is a tale of one team that wants it and another team that doesn’t care. The team that wants it is kicking the other teams ass.
it’s also a tale of an incompetent coach being schooled by a superior coach.
Recruits will notice and if you think otherwise you’re an idiot.
Don’t be so sure of us making a 12 team playoff next year in fact it’s easy money to bet against it. Ole Miss on the other hand will probably be ranked top five preseason. Recruits notice, players in the transfer portal notice.
Lmao, man you need a xanax. No, I don't think a kid making a decision next December is going to care we lost the Peach Bowl if our current team is in the playoff.@roaminglion keep making excuses. Not sure how that opinion is an excuse for anything. Lol
@roaminglion LMAO you’ve been preparing your excuses for a loss all week. If, but, if if if .
We lost to a superior team and a superior coach today as we always do when playing a team in the top15. We’ve once again regressed as the season went on.
Losing to top teams is what we do .
Player regression is who we are.
Recruits notice.
WE ARE !
Then why have we routinely had top 15 classes, if thisnis the routine? Have they not noticed until this game?@roaminglion LMAO you’ve been preparing your excuses for a loss all week. If, but, if if if .

That’s ole southerns last bowl game baby unless it’s a free ticket. I ain’t paying that kind of money to watch the backups. Even if we won I ain’t going back to a bowl game. I understand sitting out of the small bowls but a NY6 bowl the players should play. It’s their decision not to play but it’s my decision not to go watch. I’d rather watch football on tv anyway. Man we need a QB something fierce. Pribula may as well get in the portal because after watching Allar today and how bad he is James Franklin ain’t going to let him play. I’m sure the kid is trying but he’s just not any good against good teams.
@southern-psu-fan don’t worry Southern recruits won’t notice our lack of player development at the QB and WR positions nor do they notice the losses vs top teams.

@roaminglion second level recruiting isn’t elite recruiting. We’ve had one elite class since JF has been here and so far that class has been an overrated/under developed bust. Coaching matters and recruits know it.
I said recruits wont care about last year if in the current year JF proves he could beat good teams by getting into the playoff.@roaminglion second level recruiting isn’t elite recruiting. Why is that so hard to understand?
We aint getting in with our schedule unless we beat some top teams.

Somehow you've turned not caring about 1 bowl game into not caring about player development or losses against top teams in season.
But sure, 1 bowl game with opt outs means all that
Speaking to reporters ahead of a matchup with Florida State, head coach Kirby Smart was asked about the lack of opt-outs from his team:
"The leaders of the team spearheaded that. I stayed out of it. I met with each player who was draft eligible and the seniors, and I was very honest. Then they had to make a decision with their family. But they want to go out on top. They don't want their last Georgia outing to be the SEC championship."
look at the Georgia score 28-3 because their players play in a bowl game like the orange bowl.
@southern-psu-fan I didn't watch the game, had other stuff to do. It must have sucked if you're sitting the next one out. Hope things are going well for you my friend.
@tsuga I’m always going to watch the game even if we lose I’m just not going to spend that kind of money to go to the game if the players don’t want to play. I love Penn St football and the truth is I like watching the games on tv better anyway. We still had fun but we could’ve gone to the battery and watched the game on tv and still had all of my family together having fun. When guys sit out you’re paying a lot of money and not watching the same team. I wanted to see Chop play and the other guys that’s why I wanted to go lol
@southern-psu-fan: was the game that bad or did the concession stands not sell fried chicken gizzards??

That’s a total reflection of the Georgia coach !! Just like our players quitting is a total reflection of our coach.
Have to say I didn’t watch it either because this outcome was pretty predictable but I did follow along on my phone and it was even ugly/painful to watch on there.
I feel sorry for people that paid for tickets, travel and hotels thinking they were going to see a competitive game involving 2 teams with complete rosters participating and then have PSU announce at the last minute that a lot of players were playing a half at most or opting out. I’d be pissed too.
@tsuga they didn’t have chicken gizzards and that stunk. You could see the drop off with our studs sitting out of the game. We were very close to getting to the QB and if Chop was on the field I believe he would’ve got him and it’s a different game. Our young guys got their butts handed to ‘em which is expected that’s why we needed chop and the other guys that didn’t play. Allar just ain’t good enough to win a game he’s just good enough to manage a game we definitely need another QB if we want to beat top 10 teams. We beat ole Miss if our studs play. Until the big 10 coaches can get the players to play in the big bowl games like the SEC does we’re going to keep getting our butts kicked. Our backups aren’t as good as their starters it’s that simple. I’m not down on Penn St football just disappointed our stud players didn’t play when I spent a $1000 to watch ‘em lol
@psujoe Turns out, I was unpleasantly surprised.
Allar seems to be a good kid, but I'm still not on the Drew bandwagon.
@been-there-ii as bad as Ole Miss defense is I believe if James Franklin would’ve let Pribula play we would’ve had a better chance to get the win. With Pribula on the field his feet gives us another weapon. Ga Tech lost the game but they don’t have the players ole miss does and they put up a fight on offense.

Game Information
"You can say it's their fault and they have to solve their own problem," Smart said. "We had our guys, and they didn't have their guys. College football has to decide what they want. I know things are changing. But there's still going to be bowl games outside of those. People need to decide what they want and what they want to get out of it, because it's really unfortunate for those kids on that sideline that had to play in that game and didn't have their full arsenal. And it affected the game, 100%."
Smart praised his team's buy-in, which included decisions by a number of key seniors to play. Georgia did not have any official opt-outs, though several stars, including tight end Brock Bowers, missed the game due to injury.
"The game mattered just because, if you're a competitor, then every game matters -- every opportunity you get to go out there and play with people you love," Georgia defensive back Kamari Lassiter said.
Looks like Kirby is pissed about players sitting out. The article is on espn for those who don’t think the bowl games matter. According to the Georgia players they matter. I don’t know how to fix it but it needs to be fixed somehow. He’s not happy with Florida St anyway. Georgia is winning NC’s so caring about all the games is why they are winning NC’s and it’s not a coincidence that the Tide has the same attitude and they’ve won a few NC’s themselves. Gotta figure out what they’re doing.
