Not sure what you are reading or listening to, but almost everything I've read says he made it worse by speaking on Friday.

What the !#@$ happened to the title I entered?

The sports talk radio I listened to this morning all said he's putting it on the A.D. and if it's true that he did report he could keep his job. And also that being a highly successful coach will obviously affect the final decision on his future.

And also I'd  like to add that 99percent of us PSU fans that were frequenting Pennlive during the Sandusky scandal stated that Joe did all he legally needed to do by reporting to his superiors and should not have been fired.

Not only do I believe that Meyer won't be fired,I also believe that he should NOT be fired.

Stated within the last ten minutes on ESPN radio "Urban had no legal or contractual obligations to report"

Also, "The police knew"

I think there are about 40 million reasons why Myers keeps his job. He's lawyered up. If he passed the information up the chain of command, the AD or someone further up may become a scapegoat but not him. They will likely use the excuse that "since charges were not filed, they decided not to terminate the assistant coach." The only thing that could change this scenario is if they find additional issues while investigating this one. But that is not very likely since the OSU investigators are not going to be looking for other issues. They want to get back to business as usual.

The only wild card is the wrestling team scandal. That may result in some pressure, but not likely.

So many people missing the point here...  This has NOTHING to do with him reporting anything.  In fact, he DID NOT report it and WAS NOT required to.  Zach Smith was talked to by the AD, and then TOLD Meyer about it.

None of this was about reporting.

The simple fact of the matter is the leader of Ohio State football stood in front of reporters and actively tried to hide his knowledge regarding a domestic abuse incident. He lied, plain and simple. At a school where the last coach was fired for lying about tattoos. So the message will be fairly clear: Lie about tattoos and you are fired, lie about knowing domestic abuse claims?  No problem.

That is what the issue is, not reporting. Ohio State is deciding whether or not to terminate Meyer for lying, and how that has now brought up his baggage from Florida and enabling bad behavior. People at Florida remember him for 2 things: National Titles and enabling lots of shady people to do bad things.

THE Ohio State is now deciding if they want their figure head to be a guy who will be known for enabling behavior and lying about domestic abuse.

They could easily get out of paying him, he just admitted to lying to reporters about domestic abuse. If Urban wants to fight that, more power to him but he wouldn't be successful.

I'm certain OSU could come up with some compelling arguments as to why they are firing him "for cause".  Or more likely both sides would probably settle, it would not look good for Meyer from a PR standpoint to argue about getting paid when he knowing lied about domestic abuse allegations.

I thought he would get fired for lying but maybe remoh is right and he survives. If Ohio st knew about it I don’t think he should get fired.

I think he should, because you can't lie about knowing what is going on with your own program.

Only reasons for lying are to try and cover something up regarding the school, or because he knows he did something wrong.

Exactly how many times does a coach need to be arrested for domestic abuse before you tell him to get his house in order. Head coaches should know better.

And seriously, any douchebag that says "I failed to be accurate" instead of just admitting he lied is pathetic.

Really, THAT is the issue? Someone was caught off guard about a certain situation and didn't know what to say? Good lord man, our press is really out of control if that is what this is all about because honestly it should be a non issue IMO.

Who gives an eff if he was caught lying to the press?  And since when and where is it written that when speaking to them you must always tell the truth?

In 2015 OSU was approached by the Poh-lice about the situation hence the "must report protocols" are thrown out the window because if the poh-lice already know what is there to report?

The poh-lice chose to do nothing so why would the responsibility to punish then be thrown back  on Urban?

I would have loved to see Urban to get fired but right now there's no way it can happen.

And lets be clear...  It is one thing to lie about a player's status for an upcoming game, it is a whole different thing to lie about knowledge regarding coaches being questioned/arrested/implicated in domestic abuse issues.

I mean, Tressel was fired for lying about tattoos and NO ONE defended him. Now this guy lies about possible domestic abuse and people are acting like it's business as usual.  Lol
