Point blank, the latest statement by Urban Meyer should lead to his firing. Plain and simple.
He just released a statement which implies that he did know about an incident in 2015. The statement basically states that he took the proper course of action when learning about it.
So basically, he just admitted to lying to the entire press corps about it... And since he's now caught, has shifted his response to staying he acted appropriately. Which begs the question, then why did you lie about it?????
I hear ya Roam. He could have simply went Belichik and said not going to discus it or I'm here to talk about OSU football and the upcoming season etc... why did he have to go down the I was never told anything or nothing ever came to light, I called the office last night and they knew nothing about it!!! Seems very fishy to me!!!
Even more interesting I just watched the interview with Zach Smith on ESPN and he stated that he was on a recruiting trip on Oct 2015 and got a call from Gene Smith saying he need to get on the next flight back. So that tells me the "Office" knew, he also goes on to say Urban approached him at practice after meeting with the police and Urban addressed it with him. AGAIN, why did he say he knew NOTHING about it?
The full interview will be on ESPN at 6 tonight.
Very sad state of affairs!!!!
If he knew and reported it and is only guilty of lying to the media, then why did he and the powers at OSU keep this guy on staff for 3 more years?
Obviously the evidence against his first statement was overwhelming. I still say he survives and continues as head coach of OSU.
What never fails is when people in power are caught in a lie, they try and do everything in their power to not admit they lied.t Notice all of Meyer's words in his statement, never once said the word "lied"
It's comical when you really think about it, just imagine after catching someone in a lie they then doubled down on what they lied about and stated they "failed to be accurate".
It's just sad.
He's trying to push it off on the AD and other administrators. They may try to find a scape goat before it is over. I wonder if there was a meeting where someone said something like, "We can't fire this guy, he's Earl Bruce's grandson"? I see that Earl passed away on April 20, 2018.
The following story adds to what I said above.
Did you change your nic?
Yeah, I thought that I would risk being confused with some other individual who is always changing its nic. This one is much simpler to remember.
Gotcha, just trying to keep up with everybody lol
