Talked to my grandson earlier today and he mentioned that two names he keeps hearing for DC is Manny Diaz and Derek Mason. In the past you've been pretty much spot on with inside scoops and just wondered if you'd heard any rumblings??
Keep in mind that my grandson wrestled so this could be WAY off base.

I have no idea, but I have had a hectic week so I haven’t been tuned in to it as much as some may be. My gut tells me they promote Poindexter to DC and hire a LB coach, but just speculation on my part. The other 2 names would be interesting. I would be surprised if it was Mason. If I remember correctly, when he took over at Vandy for Franklin, he took a few subtle jabs at Franklin for some reason. I wouldn’t think that would sit well with JF but Mason is a pretty well known coach so maybe he lets bygones be bygones? Keep us posted if you hear anything else.
Manny Diaz seems to be the top choice.

The Hurricanes made a significant leap in 2016, Diaz’s first season, improving the scoring defensive average from 28 points per game in 2015 to 18.5 points per game. Miami also improved the team tackles for loss measurement from 5.1 per game (ranking 105th in the country) in 2015 to 8.3 per game in 2016, which ranked fifth nationally.
The 2017 season was the year of the ‘Turnover Chain’ as UM forced 31 turnovers, which ranked third best in the country. The Hurricanes also finished that season ranked first in the country in sacks while averaging 3.38 per game.
Miami’s defense was arguably the best in the country during the 2018 season. UM led the country in third down defense, with opponents converting only 25 percent of their opportunities. UM also allowed the fewest passing yards per game nationally at only 135 per game and first in the country in tackles for loss per game at 10.5.
I saw that his name was mentioned on another forum too. Who knows how credible the sources are but some of those guys have somewhat reliable inside info.
