What have y’all seen the last 4 years to think we’re going to take a snap under center? I hear people complaining about it especially on PennLive. It ain’t going to happen not from what I see.

I'm afraid your right, Southern.  I only wish we could have a play or two under center for use in short yardage or goal line situations.

You'd need more than a play or two Bob. Use it once and the other team(s) would know exactly what was coming.

I'm old school BT II.  Remember when the O line dominated the opponent and took the attitude "maybe you know what's comin', but let's see you stop it!"  That's what the Big Dogs do.  It worked for us in the past under JoePa (except against Alabama!) LMAO.

lol I'm old school too. Guess it's a matter of what you call short yardage. We've made a few and we've come up short on a few.

About this & the RB rotation:  I once had an old mule that when he dug his heels in he wasn't going to budge until something bit him in the butt.  Of course then it was too late!

I believe the RPO was necessary and a good match when you had a poor offensive line.  We should have a line that can dominate all but Wisky, OSU, UM and maybe Michigan State.  As we are now recovered from the NCAA beating we have a bigger canvas.  I perceive that more of the plays have really been runs or passes and not true options.  Lets face it, it is easier for a newer QB.  I'd still like to see the QB go under center a few times per game just to confuse people.  I bet on 4th and 1 it is easier to draw people off sides from under center and they'd be so sure it was  sneak that if the QB moved his head they'd be in the backfield.  For a 2 step drop is it really any slower to be under center?  Under center the QB can be looking at the defense the whole time whereas with the shotgun he has a second where he needs to catch the ball and then find everybody again.  I just think it needs to be in the playbook and I see no downside.  Will we need to train a QB to take a snap????
