Case study in what true loyalty and love for a school looks like:

Larry Johnson Sr. wanted to be head coach in 2012. He wasn't going to get it. He's not a head coach, he was never going to be head coach. Still, his ego was bruised so he left... to take a lateral position at our main rival. Since then he has never moved up, still a DL coach because everyone knew that is all he would ever be.

Enter Terry Smith. Was given the interim HC position. Did a decent job. Campaigned for the job, but knew he wouldn't get it. Welcomed the new hire, stayed because he really does love Penn State. Could have left, no one would have blamed him. One thing you know he wouldn't do though... take the same position at a rival. Nope, no way. Not in his DNA.

Exactly Roam.  And where did he learn true loyalty and love for PSU?  His teacher - JoePa!

There are people in this world that like their job and their company and don't want the promotion.  It would have been a shame for TS to leave and get fired away from home.

You like to see optimal for all involved.
