@southern-psu-fan

I will give you this to hang your HAT ON!

JVP lost to Michigan 9 straight times while being ranked ahead them in 5 of those games.

JF lost to Ohio State 7 straight times while only being ranked ahead them once.

GO STATE!

@mtnittanylion exactly! Things are good just gotta get the right QB in here to beat Ohio St and Michigan. When Tom Osborne had the right QB he beat Oklahoma and ended up winning 3 NC’s but it took years for him to get it done. Wisconsin and Nebraska stink right now because they have no identity anymore they have no clue what they want and both teams are paying a heavy price because of stupidity in firing coaches all the time. We don’t want to become Wisconsin and Nebraska. Just get the QB position fixed and Allar might get it done this is his first year starting and the only games he’s lost is to better teams and 2 top 5 teams.

It's classic Jimmy, Southern.  He's not going to give Pribula a shot even though you could tell the difference in the O when he came in last game.  The only way Pribula is going to get any meaningful PT is if Allar gets hurt.  Jimmy just won't yank his starting QB!

@rip

Let's see what happens Friday night.  A NY6 Bowl game is on the line.  If Allar starts and struggles again, I have a hunch BP takes over.

@rip  Let’s see what happens this week against against Michigan St. I believe after watching Pribula taking it to a good Rutgers defense James Franklin will bring him in on certain plays. Allar does give us the best chance to win today because he can throw better. Gotta do everything possible to get this win this weekend to get that peach bowl and try and get a top 5 or 6 finish.

I am losing my confidence in Allar.  He is far enough along to be a better QB than what he is showing.  I just can't figure out why if JF is going to lean on the running game, then why isn't BP your running QB vs Allar????

@mtnittanylion I believe James Franklin will mix it up this week because he seen with his own eyes how good Privula is. Let’s give him a chance. Bottom line is get the win!

I don't know, Southern.  I've lost all my faith in Jimmy.  I think he's too far gone to change his tune.  After seeing the last game, I'm more convinced than ever that the problem with our O is Jimmy, wasn't with Yurcich.  Unless you fault MY for not having the balls to tell Jimmy to butt out and leave him call the game as he sees it.

Pribula will not play any meaningful plays on Friday, unless DA can’t play. He didn’t do it with Hack or Clifford and he’s not going to start with DA.

I’ve always trusted Roam and Homers opinions and both of ‘em have turned on Yurcich when I think he was doing a good job I just think having a first year QB is mostly the problem. I do believe both QB’s need to be on the field at least 15 snaps just to confuse the defense if nothing else plus with Pribula athletic ability get some dam play in there for him. We’ve made our bed this far in the season so we need to suck it up and find a way to win the next 2 games.

Remoh and Roam might be right, it’s just my opinion about MY. I don’t believe in shaking things up until you’re losing to  teams teams you should beat unless the offense just flat stinks but I’m just a truck driver.  I don’t have to answer to people wanting my head lol

Get it right, would you Southern? Neither of us said MY was the problem, but here you are saying we were calling him out or something.

I've been pretty damn consistent in saying Franklin is the problem with the offense and MY wasnt allowed to call a game how he wanted. Why are you here saying this nonsense?

Heck, I even stated that MY will probably be somewhere else next year running a good offense.

If a coach plans games worrying about getting fired, then he shoukdnt be coach.

I dont want a cosch who considers his contract situation when gameplanning. Ffs that just nonsense

@roaminglion what’s nonsense is if you think that’s who James Franklin is. You are out of your mind if you think James Franklin is in trouble after going 21-4 and a Rose Bowl win. I’m going to let you in on a little secret Roam, James Franklin didn’t call the plays on offense and he’s never dictated to MY on how to call a game he only gets involved in play calling if it’s something like going for it on 4th downs or fake punts other that that MY ran the offense! MY isn’t a puppet wussy he would tell James Franklin to F off if he tried to tell him how to call plays..that’s the truth!

Then stop talking as if that is what he is doing. What is wrong with you? You say "it's hard and not our jobs on the line" and "he has tough decisions" because he could get fired... then when one of us says we don't want a coach doing that you're all "He's not doing that!"

Either pick a lane or stop saying it. I'm sick of this crap.

"What have you got against just winning the game? That’s all Joe Paterno cared about. James Franklin’s goal today is winning 11 games and I’m quite sure that’s the players goal as well"

Honestly, when you said this the other day I kinda wondered if you knew what you were saying. I'd like other forum posters to chime in on this one...

Did Paterno only care about winning? As Southern stated: Winning the game "is all Joe Paterno cared about"

Honestly, that sounds like soneone who knew nothing about Paterno at all. Sorry Southern, but you are just dead wrong. Paterno cared some much more than just winning a game. If a kid who coukd help us win the game needed to learn a lesson, Paterno would sit hi a$$ down and let him learn.

Paterno was not just about winning.

@roaminglion

"Football will never again be placed ahead of educating, nurturing and protecting young people" - NCAA President Mark Emmert, July 23, 2012 when announcing sanctions against the Penn State football program"

This was released just after THAT statement.

PSU Football Graduation Rate (4-year period): 91% -- Average 68%

That was 23% above the Div 1 National Average.....That was what JVP was about, not the BRAND!!

GO STATE!!

@roaminglion  I was talking about ugly wins he could care less how pretty a win looked. Joe just wanted to get out with the win…period! He knew how hard it was to win games. Go look at all the games he won 7 points or less. I never once implied Joe putting football over education or the players we were talking about how bad the offense is and that’s why I said Joe only just cared about winning the game. Joe was defensive minded and could’ve cared less how pretty the offense looked as long as it didn’t beat us I even said that in one of my post.

@rip  exactly! If we lose don’t roll around in it, shake it off and go take the loss out on the next team you play. Thats all you can do.

Southern, I believe RIP was providing that post as proof Paterno cared more about winning the right way than just winning period. Which was my point.

I think you are just wrong about Paterno. He did care about winning, but did not "just wanted to get out with the win…period!" That's nonsense and not who Paterno was. He would rather the team learn a lesson from playing poorly and lose than get a win by any means necessary. I have no idea where you got this notion of Paterno. If Paterno had the choice of the kids putting in maximum effort and playing a good game and losing, or playing ugly,not playing well, but still winning... he'd of rather the team learn from a loss.

He did not put winning above teachable moments. He often didn't even talk about winning. For him, it was about playing your best. I heard him in person say he'd rather his kids play their best and lose than play bad and win. Because it's not about winning, it's about learning and getting better. If you are afraid to let kids fail, they've already lost.
