@the-funeral-director 17-3 last 20 games. 2 losses to Ohio St and 1 to Michigan both teams in playoffs last year. Yurcich is a very good OC it’s not playing Pribula Saturday that’s got me smh and I’m pretty sure that’s on James Franklin.
@southern-psu-fan You really think this coaching staff had Pribula prepared to take snaps in that game?
@psujoe yes I do. I also think Pribula is good enough and athletic enough to make something happen if he’s given a chance. Allar was playing awful James Franklin should’ve given him a chance. You give him a scholarship to help win football games..let him help! I’m disappointed about the loss but let’s not act like we got beat by Iowa
@southern-psu-fan You must either have a short memory or a selective memory because I haven’t forgotten what happened in Iowa a couple years ago.
@psujoe me either. That was a bad loss. Are you talking about not having a backup QB ready to step in? I don’t think that’s the case today. You’ve watched the kid play. Yes it was mop up duty but he played very good. Pribula is much better than Roberson.
Following the 0-of-5 start, Veilleux completed 12-of-21 pass attempts (57%) for 200 yards and two touchdowns. It was a solid if unspectacular showing — in the rain, no less. But he executed the plays he needed to, and more importantly, he was the one to lead Pitt to a win. And that’s what he values over all else.
“Great, you know what I mean?” Veilleux said. “We just beat the No. 14 team in the country. … Our team needed this, we needed this to pick us up and get us back to playing the ball we know we can play. So, it feels amazing and I would not sacrifice anything else to celebrate this with my teammates.”
CV first start and he knocks off the #14 team in the country. Yurcich no doubt helped this dude. For CV to transfer that tells me he thought he was number 3 QB. Another athletic mobile QB that I believe is pretty good that Yurcich coached. Yurcich is a good coach brother.
It's amazing that the only player able to do anytbing against Penn State was Marvin Harrison. No scheme, no adjustments.... he was just better.talent matters but you can do things schematically to assist your players in getting open...And yes that is a true and factual statement...Many players who are not the most talented scored many a touchdown because a coach had the mental capacity to set them up in a formation to break em loose or put em in motion to get em open...This guy does none of that...He hasn't done anything to help these guys get into a position to succeed...That is bad coaching and I don't care how you slice it...That is coaching and football 101...period
Also amazing that apparently no one can figure out that all they have to do is adjust formations and their WRs could get open against us. I guess we've been lucky.
Lastly, mentioning CV knocking off Louisville is a complete joke. I watched that game, he wasn't the reason they won at all. He threw for below 50%, he was 12 for 26 (not 21)
Louisville fumbled 5 times and threw 2 picks. Lmao
@roaminglion he started out 0-5 then he probably settled down and he helped win the game. Not bad for a first start especially when you help the team win. The article said it was also raining really bad. What do you call it when you beat the #14 team with a backup QB? Good win imo
@southern-psu-fan he plays at sPitt now and is under is their tutelage, our coaches had nothing to do with how successful or unsuccessful he was in Saturdays game.
@southern-psu-fan not sure where or when you saw enough to make that assessment about Pribula
You didnt see the game, I did. No, they did not win because of him he wasnt great. Louisville fumbeled 5 times, threw 2 INTs, and almost doubled Pitts yards gained.@roaminglion he started out 0-5 then he probably settled down and he helped win the game. No. Just no.
well if you don't think OSU made adjustments to PSU doubling up on him you are wrong...They put him in motion...lined him up in the slot and put him in some bunch formations as well...he wasn't exclusively lined up on the outside by himself going 1 vs 2 all game...Also if you believe it is all about talent to get a WR open you are also mistaken...You can ride this OC's jock all ya want...you think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread and I think he sucks...the truth is probably somewhere in the middle but I just don't think the guy is doing a good job...I think he should be fired immediately...It's my opinion but I can also tell you that you are dead wrong as far as what coaching and an offensive scheme can do to help a struggling offense...bunch formations, rub routes, putting people in motion and in the slot can do wonders to help bust a guy loose...you can discount it all you want but it works...This guy does nothing to help these players succeed and thats why I think he is terrible...I will never convince you of this so it is a waste of my time to argue with you about it...But I played and coached in enough football games to understand that you can indeed help bust WR's loose that might not be able to "get separation" as you say...I will also stand by my statement that there is plenty of talent on that offense and it should be producing better results than it is...I put it on the coaching...you can blame the players if you want but this guy ain't helping these guys by putting them in a position to succeed...I would fire this guy ASAP...
@the-funeral-director They do that every game with Harrison, it wasnt an adjustment. It's literally their offense.
Yes thankyou, ai know hoe formations and rub routes work. You dont seem to realize that good defenses... you know... also know how they work. You can adjust, you can change formations... it doesnt magically make the opposing DC forget how to do his job. It doesnt make the DBs forget how to cover.
We adjust, they adjust. That's how things work. You don't think teams try all that against us? What, do you think Diaz never has to deal with adjustments like that? It happens all the time.
It wasnt like it happened for the first time with Harrison... but I can tell you it was the first time we were up against that type of talent at WR.
The previous 6 games they had motion, the had rub routes, they manipulated formations. What none of those teams had was Marvin Harrison.
That, of course, is my opinion. You have yours... which is cool. Agree to disagree.
I will concede one thing to your point of view...They have never seen a WR like Harrison this season nor will they again unless they face Ohio State in the National Championship Game...He is head and shoulders better than any WR in the country...And you sort of make my point for me regarding adjustments...I don't think our offense adjusts at all during games...That is my problem with this guy...He lacks imagination and doesn't seem to adjust in game to anything...but you are correct the other guys are getting paid to play too...????
@the-funeral-director Why are you blaming the OC? It doesn’t matter who the OC is.
Of course it matters who the OC is Homer...Unless you are intimating to me that you don't believe the OC calls the plays in the offense. If that is the case is your point that the OC is just a figure head and Franklin is calling the plays?
@the-funeral-director Sedems like a lot of the same issues exist no matter who the OC is.
