The ACC has said it is open to expansion. What teams would be a good fit? Any chance Rutgers would leave the B1G for the ACC?
I think the ACC is in a tough spot. Geographically, they sit between the SEC and B1G, both of which generate more overall success (at least in football) and revenue. The new ACC TV deal is supposedly much better for the member schools, however, with expansion, the B1G and SEC are about to become super conferences and they may not be done expanding. The TV revenue for the B1G is now crazy money for each member school. That’s why Rutgers wouldn’t leave. Their athletic department was in severe financial hardship prior to join the B1G. The B1G doesn’t want them to leave either, they want the NY TV market. No chance they leave by their own choice.
ND could be a fit for the ACC due to their quasi affiliation with them already in some sports (football, basketball, lacrosse). However, ND continues to only want to remain independent so long as it benefits them.
Sounds like there's going to be a lot of conference musical chairs in the near future.
It’s always a good day when ND loses!
I doubt that the ACC will expand. In fact, I think it implodes faster than a sinking Titan (too soon??). The top tier teams will be moving to other conferences but the bottom feeders will on the outside looking in.
@thepakid I tend to agree with you. I could see schools like UNC and Duke to the SEC and UVA, BC, VT to the B1G?
@lionbacker99 man I hope Ga Tech joins the big 10. I believe Roam said there was talk at one time. Ga Tech has to recruit nationally so the big 10 makes since to me?
this post thread looks different on my phone but I like it. Does y’all look different?
I’ve read and heard many times that the teams the B1G wants from the ACC are UNC and UVA.
Stop the insanity already! Maybe we can get the government to establish strict geographical boundaries for each conference. That should fix this rampant expansionism.
@southern-psu-fan Yep, looks different SPF. When I hit "Reply" it take me back up to the title, vs the bottom where I can type a response. I'm on my PC, not sure if phones are doing the same.
@rip It's the American way Bob, bigger is better.....until the FTC gets involved.
@thepakid Hey Kid! How's the Old Jarhead and the rest of the family doing?
Absolutely, BT. That is unless your ND. They think you can't get any bigger than that. Plus, they don't have to worry about the FTC!
ND now has to consider if having a bye in the playoffs is worth it to them, because if you arent in a conference you can't be a top seed
But..but..but they're ND. If they want a bye, they'll get a bye. Maybe they can wrangle a temporary conference affiliation from the ACC, lol.
If Ga Tech got into the big 10 they could get the Atlanta market too, right?
IMO, ND is joining a conference at some point whether they like it or not.
