Seems as though The Mass Pike Authority has been finding an inordinate amount of dead crows around the Boston area of late. Alarmists were afraid it might be Avian Flu and sent a sampling of birds for autopsies.

Pathology lab testing revealed it was not avian flu, but mortality appeared to be from vehicular impact. Further testing showed various colors of paint on the crow feet and beaks, apparently from the impact with vehicles.

Further analysis of the paint indicated 98% of the crows were killed by impact with trucks, 2% by car. The MTA hired an Ornithological Behaviorist to figure out why there was such a disproportional percentage of truck kills vs car kills, since there are more cars than trucks.

The Behaviorist didn't take long to figure out the cause: Crows typically post a lookout when the flock is feeding, ready to warn of impending danger. They discovered that the lookout bird would call out CAH! CAH! but not a single one could call out TRUCK!
