Mat Madness is finally here!! Hope everyone gets a chance to watch at least some of the matches. There are an awful lot of intriguing potential quarter- final bouts that will result in some hard fought blood round matches.

NC had a dude last year that was tough as nails and he won the NC, is he back this year? I remember lake saying he was from up in the NE I believe?
@southern-psu-fan: NC State has the Hidlay brothers from Lewistown Pa. Trent was a finalist but lost to Brooks in the finals.
I dont know where Lake lives but he might be referring to David Carr of Iowa State. He won it all last year. Unfortunately, he was upset by the #17 seed last night and will be in the consolation rounds. The best he can do now is 3rd place; which aint too shabby.
We advanced 6 to the quarter finals and 3 to the 2nd round of consolations.

Today is when we separate the wheat from the chaff. Winning a quarter finals match is 4 points, plus one advancement point. By seeding, all 6 of our guys are favored to win their bouts today. UM is favored in 4 of their 7, ASU is favored in 4 of their 5, and Iowa is favored in 2 of their 6. Eierman losing last night helped us out.

Michigan lost badly to us in the dual and barely beat us in the B10 but we were handicapped by our seeds getting byes and therefore nu bonus points in round 1.
Even in the Big10 tourney we had 4 or 5 champs to Michigan's 2 or 3
We have 5 in the NCAA Finals to 2 for UM?
For THE SHOW we look pretty dominant...no debate.
Iowa is in bad shape and even if they had their 125 pounder it wouldn't help much.
I expect we will win 4 of 5 finals plus or minus 1 🙂

Kerk just beat Parrish in the consi semi-finals. Michigan has to win by fall in all of their bouts plus we need to lose all of our bouts in order for them to win. The fat lady is warming up, the championship is pretty much ours. Iowa will be a distant 3rd.

Being outside of wrestling, I find that very strange. Why do teams with lower seeds have a chance to get more points? Seems kind of unfair and unbalanced, like Michigan was just granted a chance to gain a bunch of bonus points when we didn't even wrestle?
Am I missing something?

This one is pretty sweet. Going into the season, it was thought that PSU had some holes in the lineup, but this was a total team effort this year. Congrats boys! Job well done.
