I really think we are probably the most overrated team in the top 10 and possibly the top 15 and I would have us ranked even behind some of these one loss teams. Our schedule so far has been a joke and some teams losses are more impressive than our best win. I’m not saying we don’t deserve a spot if we win out or only lose one game but if we lose 2 I don’t think we make it.
LSU is ranked #8 and lost to USC, so I do not agree. Obviously there’s the possibility that at the end of the season we could be in the top 4 but at this point in time I don’t believe it’s deserved. Some of us like to talk about favoring in the polls and right now I believe we’re a beneficiary of it. Say what you want about them but why is sPitt ranked where they are? Do we have a better win than them? Maybe we do but it is by a thin margin.
When every conference has some money (NIL), things even out to some degree. IMO, the pail that holds the best O' and D'lines, and best QBs will be the standard of elite. The caveat will be the HC who can manage that mess, some coaches are not gonna be worth their money as this model progresses; it's one thing for a HC to have control and be able to manage it and another for having your knees cut out. USC is SO close to being undefeated. Like roam said, they did beat LSU and we beat ‘em on the road in their house. These games are hard to win. 6-0 baby is all I got to say.
@southern-psu-fan 6-0 is all we can ask for at this point and USC has shown they are a good team at times but I wish would go out and totally kick a good teams @ss for once. That upcoming game at Wisconsin is starting to worry me.
Camp Randall is a tough place to play. Heck, it's even tough for opposing fans. I was thrown out of the stadium by Barry Alvarez once many moons ago.
hmmm.....I think we have long way to go to, BUT:
#1 Texas.....looking pretty good so far
#2 Oregon....knocked off Ohio State, can't argue with this ranking.
#4 Georgia.....Close call with Kentucky, lost to Bama. Lucky to only have 1 loss and could be undefeated as well.
#5 Ohio State.....lost a ON THE ROAD to pretty good Oregon Team. I think they should be ranked ahead GA and probably PSU.
Then we have this:
#6 Miami......they are questionable and lucky not to have two losses.
#7 Bama....lost Vandy and barely survived South Carolina
#8 LSU....lost to USC AT HOME. PSU beat USC ON THE ROAD.
#9 Iowa State.....Beat WVU 28-16, PSU beat WVU 34-12
#10 Clemson....got throttled by GA 34-3
#11 Tenn....Lost to a 2 loss Arkansas and won in OT vs Florida
#12 ND....loss to Northern Illinois
#14 Texas A&M....THEY LOST TO ND. ANd they have had some really close calls as well.
Here is where a lot of people could argue:
#13 BYU....blew out Kansas Kansas State who is a pretty good team and yet they are 6-0 and ranked outside the top 10
#15 Boise State.....only loss is to #2 Oregon by 3 points ON THE ROAD. The rest of their schedule is subject, but their loss to Oregon is much better than losing to Vandy or beating Florida in OT or losing to Arkansas.
PENN STATE #3
We had that scare with Bowling Green, didn't like it, that shouldn't have been, but they did take care of biz. We just beat a pretty good ( not great ) USC team on the road. The Illinois win wasn't huge, but Illinois is ranked #22 today.
When you look at the top 15 teams, one could argue that Ohio State and Georgia should be ahead them, but then again, Penn State hasn't lost a game. I don't think Boise should be outside of the top 10, but their schedule is fairly weak, so be it. BYU at #13 is probably were they should be...but I could see them aheadd of ND and A&M.
Penn State still has a lot of work to do, but that win over USC could be the difference in where they go from here. The offense can score, Warren is incredible, Singleton and Allan are very good, and I think Allar grew up vs USC....threw 2 picks and still rallied form 14 down on the road. Man, we all need to give this kid some credit now. The defense? Can't let Ohio State get up 14 points BEFORE adjusting. Being a second halftime against the first 6 opponents is one thing, but on the road vs Wisconsin we need to be solid. Minny on the road should be a win, but hey, they beat USC too. Down by 14 vs Ohio State? That will be a WHOLE different agenda if they allow that to happen!
I think Penn State is DEFINITELY a top 10 team, probably a top 5 team and so no, I don't think they are overrated at all. They just need to play smart, not look ahead and take care business before Ohio State shows up. I think an undefeated Penn State team will beat Ohio State - FINALLY!

I kinda think BYU just may be a very good team and one deserving of a higher ranking. We still need to find answers in our passing game, yes #44 is good but we’re gonna need a lot more than just him in the next few games. And as I’ve been saying over and over and over, feed Singleton the rock !! I’m not sure if I can remember a player with so much obvious talent be as underutilized as he is !
I am with you on Singleton! They need to feed this kid the ball as much as possible against Ohio State. Allan is also important! They have two of the best backs in the country and they need to use them! If they can keep the time of possession fairly equal, get this game to the 4th quarter, I like our chances to win the close game. The defense are the ones that need to get it together! They just can't give up the big runs. Ohio State is going to have some of these, but we have to keep them to a minimum. Ohio State is capable of scoring fast, but this is a home game, we know the crowd will be loud, and they can say what they want, but Beaver stadium is a hard place to get a win. It's one thing to come into Penn State on a down year, but this is not a down year for Penn State, this is good team, they are improving each week and they are getting confident.
Lets beat Wisconsin first, get in and out healthy and then let the SHOWDOWN come to town! I know we beat an unranked USC, but USC is a pretty good team. I am feeling a little better now that they came from behind and played a very good 4th quarter and OT and came home with a win. So many times we have lost these kind off games and that wasn't the case yesterday!

@psujoe you’re 100% right on Singleton and I do love #6 play at WR but I’m not sold on BYU being a top 12 team. They’re pretty good but I see quite a few teams that would beat ‘em that have 2 losses. Season still has 6 games left we will see.
Why isn't BYU a top team? You think Notre Dame is a top team? What's a top team? I am curious to hear how you define a top team and which teams are eligible to be top teams? You think Army is a top team? How bout Navy? Who are your top 12? I am 100% certain you will have a team in your top 12 that lost to Vanderbilt? Barely beat 2 other midland teams in their own building...But a team that hasn't lost a game doesn't deserve a shot to compete? If you have Notre Dame in your top 12 I got news for ya...They go to Yankee stadium to play Army and the meadowlands to play Navy...I wouldn't be shocked if Army beat them...I just saw Army this past weekend...Their QB is as good as anybody I have seen...They are physical up front on both sides of the ball...Notre Dame better be ready cause if they ain't Army is gonna knock em off...You can only play who you have on your schedule and if you beat everybody on your schedule and are a division 1 team you deserve the chance to compete...that is what sports is all about...You think Boise State deserves a shot? They got a better loss than losing to Vanderbilt? They lost by a field goal to Oregon who just beat Ohio State...You think they can compete? I sure do and they should get the opportunity...

Army, navy and BYU wouldn’t make my top 12 because in the system we have now we have to have eye test and opinion. Just knowing college football I’m telling you, Ole Miss would destroy any of them 3 teams because they have NFL talent all over the field just like LSU and USC. If these scumbag CFP committee folk come up with a system that only get conference champs in I’m all for it but that’s not what we have. IMO We need 8 conferences and move the heavy weights around to each of all the 8 conferences and do an eight team playoff system and the season is over for all the other teams even the team that loses the conference championship game. The games have to matter, right?
If Army goes undefeated you’d put them in over a one loss Georgia team a team you know that would beat army as bad as they’d want too?
