Not sitting on his butt waiting for the Big10 to call the season off.  He would already have the Lions playing in the ACC or SEC and that would be that!  I would be willing to bet JF has already reached out to both of them.  JF is here to play some football, he is hooked on the Penn State way and I just can't see him backing down unless it would cost him his job....and I don't think that is in the cards.

I won't say BANK IT, but Penn State won't be watching football on TV on Saturdays if other conferences are playing.  They have four weeks to tweak a schedule to include Penn State which would be an easy thing to do!

GO State!!!

I dont think PSU bolting the Big 10 along with Nebraska, UM, probably OSU is anywhere near as easy as you state..Just as there are penalties for leaving permanently before the contract expires, surely the BIg 10 WOULD object, and lawsuits, fines and penalties would follow any such attempt  Remember, teams dont leave or switch conferences overnight, there are long processes to be followed..Im sure the fine print in such contracts runs for pages on end..

I do think, for now, these "leaks" of the big 10, PAC-12 cancelling the season, just may have saved the season, if only even temporarily.for now  the SEC is saying, wait, each day we learn something new. The President chimed in as did head coaches and star players.  Certainly, theyre in no rush.. If buying time will help, personally, Id be in favor of starting season in mid october, and play thru december Yes the weather can turn cold and nasty, but the NFL navigates DEc every yr without any trouble. Cancel conference title games, theyre only played for money anyway, have the CFP pick 4 most deserving teams for playoff at end  Cancel  all bowls except Big 6..and even the bowls not in the playoff, play only if local conditions permit..

I am not saying "BOLT" the Big 10, just play football with the other conferences for one season.  I am not sure what the deal is for ND, but I believe they are just playing one season with the ACC ??

Hopefully tomorrow we wake up find out that the Big 10 is going to take a shot at it.  If they don't, then I would hope any Big 10 school that wants to play with another conference for one season can do that.  Any way you look at it, this is going to be sort of a Hybrid season, so let those who want to play, play!

@mtnittanylion I hear you, and realized you didnt mean permanently, but not sure its doable   AS a conference member, just by application for membership, you subject the institution to all the  bylaws, rules, and regulations that conference membership entails.... And while your football coach may be  all for it, the President of the school will have the final say

ND is joining the ACC for 1 yr, you are correct , but its an entirely different situation, as ND is not a full time member of the ACC for football, just  a partner as the ACC termed it..The ACC has reached out to ND, and promised its help, once Wisconsin, USC and Stanford cancelled o/o/c games..

Dont get me wrong, if PSU, OSU, Nebraska, UM, decide they want to play football, but cant because their conference cancelled, Id be all for those schools joining  the ACC/SEC  It would make for one interesting year..I just have my doubts if its doable legally, and if the Big 10 says no, the season will be over anyway by the time the legal system plays out..

There have been stories that say that some teams may go independent or join another conference and play this fall if their conference decides not to play.

Notre Dame and the ACC was easy.  Notre Dame doesn't share media rights for home games with anybody and they already had a deal for road games in the ACC. So mingling the pot was easy.  Both the Notre Dame NBC TV money and the ACC TV money goes into one pot to be split between the ACC Schools and Notre Dame.  So all parties contribute as well as benefit.

But if say Neb joins the Big 12 for a fall schedule, they have signed over all their media rights to the Big 10 and the BTN. All Big 12 teams have done the same. So it's complicated and there would have to be agreements on the money between the Big 10 and the Big12.  Also if Nebraska joined the Big 12 they would not bring any TV money to the pot but would they want a piece of the Big 12 TV money? Media would seem like a big problem.  This applies to Penn State, Ohio State or any Big 10 team

I think they could argue that the Big Ten waived the rights to that season when they shut down. I don't believe the conference has the power to tell Nebraska they can't play.

But Nebraska would still not bring TV money to the Big 12.  So what is the benefit to the Big 12.  Do they split their TV dollars 13 ways and give Nebraska a piece.  No way that is happening.   At worst case, Nebraska agrees to go back to the Big 12 full time.  They have stunk since joining the Big 10 because they lost the Texas recruiting ground when they joined the Big 10.

Who says Nebraska cares about TV money this year? So the Big 12 keeps their TV dollars. if it's just for 1 year Nebraska won't care if it means being able to play football in 2020. I don't think this isn't about money for them.

Well apparently the Big Ten basically did tell Nebraska not to play, or threaten them in some way because Nebraska just came out with a "OMG we are sorry" statement basically saying that they still want to be part of the Big Ten and they're not going to play if the Big Ten doesn't want them to.

Interesting.

@southern-psu-fan..That was predictable from the beginning, and just Scott Frost babbling. Switching conferences now is just not going to work, not without threat of lawsuits, fines, penalties, etc, etc...There is nowhere near enough time, to allow such a process..Heck, time is a running if spring football is going to happen, which as Urban Meyer said, "NOT HAPPENING"

I don't think it was ever about switching conferences, merely about finding someone to play football against for 2020. I doubt even Frost thought seriously about going back to the Big 12 permanently. I could be wrong though, maybe he did. 🤣

Not sure what Scott was thinking, I see your point, the way he phrased it could have been interpreted as just scheduling any 10 teams available..or he could have meant Big 12 for 1 year, Yes, I dont think he ever meant permanently..and of course that would need concurrence of school prez..I dont believe this issue is totally dead as the silence would suggest
