Whether you like him or not, this is the type of thing that an elite coach does: The Patriots' run-heavy approach has exceled against lighter, more athletic defensive fronts designed to stop pass-happy NFL attacks. That's no coincidence, either: Belichick and his staff assembled the NFL's heaviest offensive line and drafted a bruiser in rookie running back Rhamondre Stevenson to exploit that trend. IMO a good example of a HC's level of critical thinking and what it achieves which then becomes an advantage.
Come on Franklin, man up, even the Patriots don't field the most explosive best player at every position but their players understand their role and how to play it. Yeah I'm not saying it's perfect every time but its a damn good recipe, just gotta have a chef who knows how to put the ingredients together. There is never a question about which coach is directing the Pats; we still haven't figured out whether JF or MY is calling the Offense at PSU, lol.

Mac Jones is a big reason they are good this year, they got the steal of the draft IMO. Unreal that 4 other QB's were taken ahead of him.
Ole southern was big on Mac Jones baby I thought he was the best QB in the class. Belichick hit a home run again. I’m with you roam, it’s unbelievable he was the 5th QB took in the draft the dude is the real deal.

Ture but that also sounds a little like discounting the rest of the team and what Belichick achieves as a HC and how he does it.

Brady was absent 2 years Bilecik was in NE, and they missed the playoffs both years. The Patriots get a stud QB in Mac Jones, all of a sudden they are a playoff contender again. IMO I don't think it's a coincidence.
@roaminglion so when does Belichick get credit for anything? He drafted Tom Brady and Mac Jones to help win football games heck I thought that’s what the NFL draft was for. I’ll say it again, Bill Belichick is the best coach of all coaches of all sports in the world he is the greatest coach to ever coach any sport if you look at his track record. The man even took Cleveland to the playoffs if I remember right. You don’t luck up and win at the NFL level and win what this dude has. Bill Belichick and ole slick Nic are not frauds

When he makes the playoffs and wins some games without Brady. I said that all along, he needed to prove he could do it without the GOAT.
He is on his way to doing it this year. Never said he was a bad coach, I said that IMO he wasn't the best ever until he does something without Brady.
Why you think saying someone isnt the best ever is giving them no credit... I dont know

Best ever in any sport? What? Ummm... sorry but no, completely ridiculous when Phil Jackson won 11 championships on 2 different teams with completely different players. He has more championships (11) than Belichik has even played Super Bowls (10).
Not sure how you think Belichik's record is better than Phil Jackson's, John Wooden, or even Nick Saban and his 7 National Titles at different schools.
That's just plain wrong.

Brother that has to be the most ridiculous thing you have ever said on here!!
"Bill Belichick is the best coach of all coaches of all sports in the world he is the greatest coach to ever coach any sport if you look at his track record."
COME ON MAN!! Not to mention he and his team got caught cheating multiple times!
@navylion the NFL is king of sports and Belichick is the king of all coaches. The man has won 6 Super Bowls as a head coach and has lost a couple plus he won 2 as a DC and I believe him and the tuna lost one. This dude has been part of 9 Super Bowls that’s just unbelievable coaching in the NFL. He’s done most if not all this with a salary cap. Unlike all other sports the NFLgives every team the same opportunity to win. Belichick did all this with a salary cap and free agency it’s unbelievable what this dude has done. I’m not an NFL nut I like college football better I’m just going g on what I see and hear. He did build the biggest dynasty in the NFL and he’s still going
Seems clear that the trend has been towards faster lighter defenses in College. If it is, then the way to take advantage might be bigger offensive linemen and a fullback.
I mean are you really putting a defense in conflict when they know you can't run?
Look how IL beat us....pretty old school? Now they still shouldn't have beaten us but they did counter our fast light defense.....and no time of possession offense.
The pendulum swings back.
Like someone once said 'skate to where the puck is going'.

Sorry, not buying it. HE did not build a dynasty, the Kraft Family did!!! Belichick is a slimy pompous ass cheater who lived off of Tom Brady plain and simple!! Oh and Limegrover SUCKS!!!!
Nonsense. Phil Jackson won practically double the amount of titles Belechik has and last I checked the NBA has free agency and a salary cap. Come back to planet earth.
@roaminglion Phil picked his spots where he had the best players, you come back to planet earth. The NBA does have the best basketball players in the world in it but all the team are not competitive it’s like college football there’s a handful of teams that have a shot to win the championship and Phil made sure he went to one of ‘em kind of like Saban did. 2 great coaches but not on the same level as Belichick.

Yeah, that's why no one has come close in the modern era to Phil Jackson... because it's so easy to win. Please, your love of everything Belichik has you just falling over yourself to discount everyone else with some nonsense like "he picked his spots" like that has anything to do with it. So, Jordan was on the Bulls and they never won a damn thing before Jackson showed up... but somehow he knew? Complete BS.
You know what else? He never missed the playoffs once. Not one time. Ever.
And your "all the teams are not competitive" schtick is laughable. Please, tell me how good the Bulls were and how many championships they won before Jackson arrived? How many was that???? ZERO. He goes to the Lakers, 3 titles. He leaves, they win nothing... he comes back? 2 more titles. If it's so easy, why couldn't the other coach win?
My lord, the man won 11 NBA titles and you're acting like it's nothing because only certain teams are competitive. If that was true, other coaches would at least be winning like he did... and they don't.
Belechik won 6 titles. Knoll had 4. Walsh and Gibbs had 3. PHIL JACKSON HAD 11, and the most anyone else had since 1970 was 5. That's ridiculous. Belichik has won nothing without Brady, and you constantly say that's not relevant. But Phil Jackson wins without Jordan, wins without Shaq, wins without Kobe, and it's all "he picks his spots". Dude, that's weak.
Billy boy Belicheat is an average coach at best just like Tricky Nicky Saban...Those guys never did anything until they stumbled upon in Billy Boy's case Tom Brady and in Tricky Nicky's case a cushy situation in Tuscaloosa...Billy Boy is an excellent defensive coordinator but he did nothing as a head coach til Brady came along...As far as the current rookie crop of QB's Mac Jones landed in the by far the best situation...His team has a great defense so he doesn't have to do too much to win ballgames and he is playing behind the best offensive line so he isn't running for his life all game either...We will revisit this 5 years from now God willing and lets see where these rookies are...My bet is Mac Jones won't be the best of this lot...He is benefitting from being in the best situation of the other rookies at the moment...
BTW I happen to be a fan of Phil Jackson just like I am Saban but they both did go where they know they’ll win. I’m not knocking Phil I just don’t thinks he’s Belichick

...and Belichick took over a team that made the Super Bowl and the playoffs 3 of the previous 4 seasons, so let's not act like he didn't take a job that established a winning mantra either.
This is ridiculous, he didn't "cherry pick" the Bulls back in the late 80s, early 90s. I mean, trying to even compare a guy not taking a job after he's had 11 titles? Who cares, I can guarantee you if Belechik retired and was offered the Jets job he'd pass on it too. This might have made sense if Jackson wasn't practically 70 years old when the Knicks offered him the job.
