@been-there-ii how well you know me!!  As a matter of fact I'm in the sap house right now. Much like my sex life, our sap season will be over before I knew it started.

The redhead is still up here. She's anxiously awaiting you with open arms and legs.

@tsuga Sap? Sex? Redheads? You're just as bad as the rest of us when it comes to distraction. Seriously, how are you feeling? (apparently randy)

@tsuga  just good friends having a great time tsuga lol…I was thinking the same thing yesterday lol may as well get slick Nick’s opinion on where college football is now so I’ll put it here brother.

Nick Saban shares thoughts on state of college football.

"If my voice can bring about some meaningful change, I want to help any way I can, because I love the players, and I love college football. What we have now is not college football -- not college football as we know it. You hear somebody use the word 'student-athlete.' That doesn't exist," Saban told ESPN Wednesday when talking about the sport that he dominated for decades.

@tsuga You forgot about the political part in the middle. If you look, virtually all of the threads on this page take many turns away from the original thread. Drives me crazy, however that is a short trip.

How did this thread go from electric cars to sap?

P.S. Dodge trucks rule.

@tsuga lol Yes, red head! No idea how my fingers typed out hardhead....unless it was a Freudian thing and the ex.

At your age, you need to keep an eye out for those pileated woodpeckers, they really do a number on old, wormy wood....although they are redheaded.

Happy boiling my friend!

@psujoe : you make a good point.  Hey, you still have your camp down in PA??  I had to break down and sell my place. With the long drive and failing health, it just wasnt practical anymore to keep it.  I'll always have the memories to look back on.

Yup still have the cabin in Sullivan County but that place is starting to suffer from too many owners that can’t agree on anything. The deer hunting was pretty darn good in northern PA at one time but today you’re really not missing anything ,I believe the hunting is a lot better up your way than down here. I just saw something in the paper today stating that we’re close to getting more Sunday hunting.

Penn State QB Jaxon Smolik’s plan for 2024: ‘I want to be in the conversation for playing time’

Wouldn’t it be awesome if this young man was the starter to start the season. I believe we have some good QB’s they just need some playing time. We just need somebody at the QB position to step up their game.

When it comes to evaluating our QB's, maybe our new OC can be objective and not automatically go with Allar.  That is if Jimmy doesn't overrule him.

I personally think Allar is a really good QB. I know many of you think he doesn't play well in big games (read that as OSU and MI). That is the same thing you say about Franklin. It amazes me that those comments do not seem to take into consideration the players on the other side of the line of scrimmage. In the "big" games those players seem to be better, our wide receivers do not seem to get as open, the rush on the QB is a bit tougher, ... All of these things make it tough for a QB to look great. Of course the QBs on the bench look as good as they always do.

@psugrad81 I just wish if the starting QB is having a really bad day, as we all tend to do at times, they'd try the next QB in line, see what happens.

I know what you're saying.  All I'm saying is let the best man play.  You'll never know how good the backups are if you keep them sitting on the bench and stick with someone based on star rating and recruiting hype.  If the starter is obviously struggling  or having a bad day, give the backup a shot to see what he can do.

I love James Franklin as much as anybody else does and there’s one thing I’ve seen happen 2 times while’s he’s been the coach at Penn St that bothers me…he let a backup QB sit on the bench when he knew the other kid was better. I’m sure he has his reasons I just don’t know what it is and James Franklin ain’t the only coach that does this there’s other coaches that do the same thing heck the goat Joe Paterno admitted he did it playing Moreli over D-Clack I heard him say it I just don’t know why. I’ve watched Clemson a few years ago do it. I give James Franklin the benefit of the doubt because 99% of the time he’s right. Hack and Allar are the 2 worst QB’s I’ve ever watched that didn’t get benched when they were clearly stinking up the field. Y’all seen it with your own eyes Allar stinking up the field and Pribula comes in and throws a freaking TD and he gets freaking benched lol…It is what it is.

@psugrad81 Lmao !! Big time players make players around them better and make big time plays that win games vs top opponents. Allar has done none of that.
So far Allar is mostly hype and an even bigger 5star bust than Hack.

Allar was a freshman, most freshman struggle (Obviously a few don't, but that is rare). The hope is he makes the jump and gets better next season, which usually happens after the freshman or sophomore year.

If he struggles how long does James Franklin give him before he yanks him out?

@southern-psu-fan That I can't say, IMO if Pribula is better at running the new system then he should play. That's it. If Allar struggles early then you need to make that change pretty quick or else it would be a long season.

We should find out early though, because Allar better be ready for Morgantown.

Bo Nix and Penix Jr. were mediocre in their first 2 years as starters but turned into stars after going to new teams with decent offensive schemes and very good receivers.
