In 1967 I enlisted in the Navy right after HS Graduation.  I went to boot camp and immediately came to the conclusion that I had made a mistake.  Sorry, no way out.  I had made a commitment to serve my country.  Somehow I made it through my entire enlistment and came out a better man because of it.

Today, there is no such thing as a commitment.  Kids are free to change their minds at the drop of a hat. The sad thing is, us adults condone it.  In my opinion we're nor doing them any favors.

Just googled it, it’s Bru McCoy, 5 star from California the breaking news didn’t say anything about being on Penn State’s campus but it looked like he was a hair away from committing to Texas before USC so I imagine they have the edge.

Amen Brother!!  Guys like us are cut from a different cloth......plus we're dinosaurs.   I almost made a very similar comment to yours a few days ago but I didnt.  If a kid has his degree and wants to move on, im cool with that.  Each time you quit on something it gets easier to quit on something else the next time.

A good example of honoring your commitment??  Tom Brady......i dont like the guy but i respect him for sticking it out and paying his dues.

It's great to hear from you Tsuga.  Feels good to know I'm not the only dinosaur that believes in the value of honoring a commitment.  Like you said, each time you quit it gets easier & easier.

yes he would have to sit out a year, which wouldn't be a big deal if he was going to redshirt as a freshman anyway. However, who knows because the almighty waiver might be in play. I wouldn't put it past this kid to say that in two weeks something went crazy, like kliff Kingsbury the offense of coordinator left therefore it's a "hardship"

So much for college building character.  Maybe they're all focusing on training future politicians.

I mean, yeah it's a bit weird but we can't just lay it all on the college kid here and explain it away by saying "character"

Where was this amazing character displayed at USC when Kliff Kingsbury bailed two weeks after taking the offensive coordinator job?

I know what you're saying Roam.  I'm tempted to agree with you, but deep down inside I guess I still feel you play the cards you're dealt.

College football is headed down a bad path from what I see hope I’m wrong. Maybe I just need to get use to all these changes?

Southern, I've been feeling that way for a while.  I think this transfer nonsense (free agency in my opinion) may be the beginning of the end.  Getting too much like the NFL.  Pretty soon I'll have to resort to watching the $25/game plus free hoagie guys.  Now those guys love the game and you can't say they have no commitment!
