Dang, when is the next chapter coming out? You had me on the edge of seat!
Thanks for all that you did!!
GO STATE!
Good evening Gentlemen. I’m sorry I missed this discussion yesterday. Thank you to all the veterans for serving our country, keeping us safe and protecting our freedom. While I did not serve myself, my grandfather was a Navy guy and my uncle was in the Army. I appreciate everything you guys have sacrificed for the rest of us. Enjoy the rest of your week. You deserve it!
@tsuga Tsuga: Thanks. I guide in Ohio but was born and raised in PA. Still belong to a club in the Poconos where we own 1400 acres of rocks and trees with a lot of deer, bear and turkeys which borders on about 3000 acres of state game lands. One of the Marines I guided was in Hue. He was in 2/5 as I recall. We have 3 days of hunts and have a real nice program with lunch, dinner, shooting contests and camaraderie for all. Several large farmers allow us to use their land and facilities ( they are vets ). The state even allows us to hunt one of their parks for one day. We take out everybody, wheel chair bound and even quadriplegic guys. We rib them like everyone else which I know you'll understand is done with respect and the intent to help them feel good and included somewhat. Their disabilities are not there for a day or two. I live in a suburb of Columbus. Having grown up in Pa, a daughter who went to PSU and a long connection it is awful to put up with TOSU ( Thee Ohio State University ) crap. My two best answers to that are TOSU: insufferable in victory and obnoxious in defeat. I never felt that way till I moved here. The news always leads with TOSU no matter what. Seriously: If aliens landed downtown, got out and said we have a pill, it's free, it will cure all diseases, cure war and poverty and it will magically appear in everyone's hands .... and if TOSU played a football game that same day .... the lead story would be the football. :))))
@waytoolong2: That Marine and I served together. I was in A company 1/1 stationed in Phu Loc along with G company 2/5. We got the call to go in on 31 January in what our CO told us was mop up duty. We were stationed 8-10 miles away and as soon as we hit the city limits all hell broke loose. We were ordered to reinforce the MACV compound and lost many a good men crossing the Nguyen Hoang bridge and at that time we knew we were in trouble....deep trouble. It was hell. After 3 or 4 days of utter chaos we were pulled back and 1/1 and 2/5 were consolidated under Colonel Hughes. We were never trained for city fighting and paid dearly for it. I still see faces. Plain as day I still see the faces. Civilians were executed in the streets by the VC, and they were killing our medics as the ran to help the wounded civilians.
eh, I'm done. But yeah, there's no doubt that Marine and I pissed behind the same tree over there.
@tsuga. I think it’s a good thing for me to hear these things tsuga because it makes me put things in perspective and it also tells me how spoiled I am living a great life because of guys like you and all the other veterans. I thank JEHOVAH GOD every day for all the blessings I have.
