Is Trevor Lawrence a bust?
NFL is a different animal since you’re great in college doesn’t mean you can make it in the NFL where the greatest athletes in the world compete. It also depends on what kind of team he’s with and Jacksonville was a mess when he got there if I remember correctly. He needs more time.

Same applies to College, HS.
4 star, 5 star recruits from HS to D1 football. Yeah, you look great in HS and when you get to College competition, move over and warm the bench.
@forum-titan I disagree on that because going from college to the NFL is way harder than going from HS to college. No weaknesses in the NFL they only take the best from college. Scouts may mess up every now and then but not much. I do understand what you’re saying but the NFL is just brutal

What I mean is new level, new devil to deal with.
@southern-psu-fan Exactly. He’s in his second season and first with a real NFL coach. Let’s give him a chance before we write him off.
IMO, a couple more years will tell the tale. One thing to have an outstanding game and then drop turds vs putting together a solid year followed up by another. A lot of one year wonders been through the nfl. Very few consistent 5 year winners or longer.
I don't know Trevor but it is clear to me that some people do not have the total package needed to succeed at the next, more competitive level. At a HS level they might just be physically dominant but eventually you need a work ethic, you need to be coachable, you need 'the knack'. You also need some luck to stay healthy and get in an organization that is a good fit.
It is easier to weed out the people with all the intangibles that just don't have the prototypical body, isn't it? We have a codeword for what these guys have, don't we.
When I followed the NFL I always thought that if a QB hadn’t figured it out by the end of his third full season he never will.

Generally speaking you're right, though Drew Brees didn't blossom until year 4 and even then didn't reach his potential until year 8+

That’s probably my favorite NFL QB of the last 20 years.
Another great QB the Falcons passed on, smh

At least you’re not a Dolphin fan that chose Culpeper over him.
If the Dolphins had taken Brees the whole college landscape probably looks different today

Interesting thing about that, Saban has stated it was one of the reasons he left Miami. He wanted Drew Brees, and the doctors said his knee was bad and the higher ups in Miami passed. He even said he called Drew's agent and said he'd speak to New Orleans if they wanted, letting the Saints know that he believed his knee was fine
Saban's story was backed up by Drew's agent, who said that it did happen.
