Urban Meyer has been fired by the Jags. Kahn didn't mince any words in his press release.
Who snatches him up??
Some coaches just can't perform when they don't have a top 3 recruiting class every year .......
Pete Carol seems to have done OK. Saban, Urban ... not so much.
Fired before his health concern came back this time 🙂
Miami was 4-10 the year before Saban arrived and he went 9-7 in his first year. I wouldn't say that's not performing, he did well. The second year not as much, but even Belechik had his lean years in Cleveland.
Not saying he did great the NFL, but certainly no comparison to the $@$show that was Urban Meyer

But Saban is not in the NFL, 'did well'? What would be the definition of 'did well' in the NFL? Owners apparently didn't think he did well. Perhaps he didn't think he did well? Hypothesis is...Easier to be a great coach when you have the best players. In the NFL it is difficult to have the best players long term. In baseball I'd propose the Yankees tend to have the best due to $. Add another college coaching superstar to the list? Spurrier? But the Redskins haven't been 500 lifespan coach since Shottenheimer in 2001 the year before Spurrier showed up.
BOB failed but he was no college Superstar.
There are a shit load of D1 and NFL coaches who haven’t done more than average to above avg anywhere they coached and a few who have improved and sustained a level well above that. IMO no matter the level of play when u fall into the latter you’ve earned your position. It only becomes an advantage after you have achieved.

"Owners apparently didn't think he did well." - He wasn't fired though, he resigned to take the Alabama job.
"So, I decided right then when that happened that we don’t have a quarterback in the NFL, we’re not going to win. I’m getting out of here. I’m not staying here. I’m not going to be responsible for this. That doctor didn’t know his ass from a handful of sand. Drew Brees plays 15 more years, wins a Super Bowl, goes to nine Pro Bowls. And we didn’t take him in Miami, where he wanted to go. Some things you can’t control. When we left there nobody understood why. Well that was why. There’s always a reason." - Nick Saban
He's also stated that he told Brees' agent that he would not mention the failed test, so that Brees would be able to sign with another team without dealing with the nonsense. A story backed up by the agent.
So not as crazy an exit as you would think... Saban was just tired of dealing with BS that comes with the NFL. More of a manager and at the whim of others, while in college you are in more control. I think he realized he was just better suited to it.
Nicely played T-hale, Snatches is what got him fired.
If I said I typed that intentionally I'd be lying to you. That early in the morning and only one cup of coffee in me im lucky I typed anything sensible at all.
