My takeaways from yesterday....

1. Michigan should be the highest ranked 2 loss team in the country. They dismantled a Notre Dame team that Georgia held on to beat. I don't think there can be much doubt about the B1G eastern division being the best division in college football. I will also argue that the B1G is the best conference in college football as well. All of a sudden that big win against Notre Dame that Georgia had isn't so impressive anymore. As I said...They just keep playing with themselves...

2. Ohio State is the best team in the country. In my opinion they are playing the best football and appear to be the most complete team I have seen so far.

3. If Penn State loses to Ohio State in their building and it is a competitive game there is no doubt in my mind that a 1 loss PSU team should be in the playoff ahead of any other 1 loss team that isn't a conference champion.

4. Penn State played a very good football game yesterday in terrible conditions. They took care of the football. Only 1 turnover...They beat a very good football team yesterday...These defenses in the B1G are nasty...Ask Notre Dame about Michigan's D? Michigan St. has a terrific front 7...Iowa has a great defense...Wisconsin has a very good defense...I don't see other conferences playing defense on the level that these teams are...

5. As a result of #4 I think that our OLine may be a bit better than the stats show...These guys are blocking against the best defensive fronts in college football and holding their own...This team is winning football games...YES...I think they need to improve and I believe they will...They have 2 more games to get through before the biggie with Ohio State...They need to play em 1 at a time and not get caught looking ahead cause that is how you get beat…

6. This whole rankings farce...Let me get this straight? LSU's signature win is against a 3 loss Texas team? Georgia's big win was a squeaker at home against a team that Michigan manhandled? They fraudulently rank these teams artificially high and just shuffle the deck as they play with each other...SEC has 5 teams in the top 11? seriously? 2 loss Auburn team ahead of a 2 loss Michigan team? An undefeated Minnesota team not ranked in the top 10 and ranked below a 2 loss Auburn team? Baylor is undefeated and not ranked in the top 10? As I have said this is the scam that they play. Wisconsin has 2 losses and ranked 18th? Like I have said all along...Just rank the whole SEC in the top 20 and have it over with...That way they can play with themselves and Notre Dame and load em into the playoff with Clemson keep the farce alive...

That's all I have....It's a joke...

Interesting take. Multiple NFL teams use the RPO in addition to college.

No, LSU's "signature win" isn't against a 3 loss Texas team? Is that a joke? They beat Auburn and Florida. Texas isn't even LSU's 2nd best win, let alone their best.

I'm sorry, but you don't get to just say the SEC "plays themselves" when Auburn went out and beat Oregon. How do you even say that with a straight face? Auburn literally went out and beat the best team in another Power 5 Conference, an Oregon team that is currently ranked #7 and favored to win the Pac 12. WTF?

I mean, talk about cherry picking your argument.

It occurs to me that we don't have as many negative yardage plays as some of the prior years.  I don't have data to support that theory but if true then the something has changed.  Better O-Line?  Not as much true RPO delay?  Backs being more decisive?

Not sure why you keep saying this when they have signature wins against...

TEXAS

FLORIDA

AUBURN

#1 Alabama baby

#2 LSU

#3 Ohio State

#4 Penn State

#5 Clemson

I have Oregon on the outside looking in this week. I only rank the top 5 teams because this is where the big dawgs play.

My true top 5 up to this point would be:

#1 LSU

#2 Ohio State

#3 Alabama

#4 Penn State

#5 Clemson

I have LSU at #1 because their schedule has been good and they've looked impressive in their wins. Their defense isn't as good as Ohio State's IMO, but their level of competition so far has been higher than OSU's. The Buckeyes are #2 based on their dominance through the year, and pasting of Wisconsin. They get elevated above Alabama because Bama's schedule has been below average. Bama is #3 because while their schedule is below average, they've beaten everyone soundly. Like OSU, every game has never been in doubt. I have us at #4 because their are still questions about our offense, and if they can put 4 quarters together against the best teams in football. If our offense was more consistent, we'd be above Bama. Clemson is #5 because of the sheer disaster of a schedule they have played. It's atrocious, and they should have lost to UNC.

@roaminglion

I started to put LSU #1 and then something hit me, what has LSU done since 2008 to make me think they can run with the Tide....NOTHING, so I backed off.

We will see Southern, but rankings to me are about what you've done this year, not the past. We shall see in two weeks.

Funny thing is if Tua plays I'd take Alabama to beat LSU in the game... but right now I just can't rank Bama #1 with their schedule. LSU and OSU have at least proven something against good teams... right now Bama is riding reputation and eye test.

That’s a fair top 5. We see Clemson and penn st the same way. Man the ACC stinks. If Clemson loses a game that opens up the door for LSU vs Ohio st and Alabama vs penn st in the playoffs lol. That would make my man FD happy lol
