Just heard on the Paul Finebaum show he’s retiring. This is a true icon of college football and he will be missed.
Hey SPF! Sounds like a great job opening for BillyCheat!
JF to Bama !! Seems like a great fit to me.
@psujoe Short recruitment list and Franklin isn't on it. Maybe they can portal him.
After thinking about it some more, BillyCheat would be a good fit at Michigan, if Harbaugh gets an NFL job.
Franklin's agent will be looking for a 5 year extension at $10 Million per year. Always have to take advantage of coaching changes elsewhere. Patrick Kraft is James lap dog. The last extension for Franklin was Sandy Barbour's middle finger to Penn State as she walked out the door.
The last extension for Franklin was Sandy Barbour's middle finger to Penn State as she walked out the door.
Why was Barbour giving PSU the middle finger as she “walked out the door”?
I hope it was just a good decision on his own and nothing related to health. Lots of life left at 72 if you take care of yourself!
Best to him!
@been-there-ii It took me quite some time to figure out who BillyCheat is.
Pete Carroll is looking for a job too. If my feeble memory serves me correctly, I think he coached at Bama early in his career.
Pete would be a great fit at Alabama. The USC teams while Pete Carroll was there were as good as it gets.
Sounds like Dan Lanning will be the next head coach at Bama. Great hire for them.
DID YOU KNOW with Nick Saban retiring he wraps up his career 117 total wins and five bowl victories behind @PennStateFball legend Joe Paterno?
Just saying
It is hard work, Nick doesn't really say why or if he did would I buy the reason? Is it possible that with NIL Nick doesn't have the recruiting advantage he once had? Did he just get tired? Health? I think you have to love more than competing and winning to do that job. You have to love the kids to do it long term?
@underlion his last 2 recruiting classes might be the best he’s ever had. I believe he had nine 5* in one freaking class lol he beat Georgia this year and won the SEC so trust me he ain’t scared of any team out there. I believe he thinks it’s just time to hang it up while he’s at the top of his game. Just my opinion though
Much easier to win when you get the pick of the litter. Just wondering how the power structure is shifting with NIL. We have some advantage due to being in a big market and large alumni. Alabama is not a big market but the closest real pro team is NO or Atlanta. Just telling these kids your sucess rate in getting them to the Pro's when others are offering hard cash?
Times they are a changing....
Oregon seems to be excelling with NIL recruits. Who else?
@underlion I don’t have a clue where college football is headed but i believe it ain’t good in the end.
Coaches salaries soaring (more coaches moving back & forth between the NFL & college), transfer portal (free agency), NIL ( pay for play) & soon to be players unionized ( collective bargaining) the hand writing is on the wall and it spells doom for the college game IMO!
