Sounds like the rumor about his wife having Alzheimer's isn't true.  Thank God for that!

@rip  I still believe there’s a few people out there that would love to see football go away and if they can destroy college football they believe that could take down the NFL. Just look at who’s running the colleges like Harvard today it’s the same kind of people. Bunch of nuts. I’ve heard this on sports talk radio it’s not something I come up with.

Well we are becoming a sissy, risk adverse culture.  Football is rough and half the penalties called in the last 10 years would not have been called in the prior 10.  Concussions are a big deal.  But consistent heading of the ball in soccer causes brain damage as does getting punched (boxing).

I'm so glad my government is taking care of me.

I have quit the Woke NFL and the Arab Golf league and PGA debacle has me less interested in that.  I'm feeling less interested in College football.  The Superbowl was Friday (Iowa/PSU wrestling) and it was over by half.  Back to my Air conditioning and video games...

The actual result is more time doing and less time watching...a good thing for an old man.

@southern-psu-fan

We may be fighting a losing battle Southern & Underlion.  I saw this crap in a recent article:

"Last weekend, for the second year in a row, the Pro Bowl games featured flag football. Flag football is not the same as tackle football, but interest is growing exponentially – so much so that in four years it will be in the Olympics.  Flag football will make its Olympic debut in Los Angeles in 2028 for both men and women.  The NFL supports that plan – and there is a chance NFL players could be on the Olympic team."

It’s all a reflection of what we’ve become, sadly the country we all knew while we were growing up is dead and not coming back. I kinda feel sorry for the generation coming through the education systems today.

Who cares if flag football is in the Olympics, so is boxing in a very different format with headpads and limited rounds. Boxing is still out there and isnt going anywhere. Martial arts is in the Olympics in point format. That doesnt mean UFC is going away, in fact that sport is booming.

The NFL isnt changing to flags, come on. The only reason they introduced it was because players werent happy about beating themselves up in a meaningless pro bowl that is supposed to be a reward

Whatever happened to playing for pride? Pride was part of what the pro bowl used to be about that and the $50,000 or whatever it was that went to each player on the winning team. Players not caring today is just another sign that they’re getting paid way too much money. I bet some of them still do care but obviously there’s very few.

My point is it's a sign of the times.  The times they are a changin and in my opinion, not for the good.  Personally I could care less if the NFL changed to flags, lol.

The Pro Bowl is supposed to be an award, not a "hey go beat up your body so our viewers can watch it more". Robert Edwards blew out his knee and it almost had to be amputated, and Tyler Eifert missed an entire season because of an injury from the Pro Bowl. Pride? In what? A makeshift award game with zero significance?

Yes believe it or not players once did play for pride but I really didn’t expect you to understand because it’s rather obvious what generation you are from. “For who , for what? “

LMAO, yeah if it was just for Pride they wouldn't have been paying them $50K if they won. But sure, all pride the money had nothing to do with it back then. The NFL was just being generous

Yea I knew you’d have a hard time believing it but it’s true. He’s another one that will shock people like you, People also used to also take pride in their work and didn’t demand benefits because of who or what they are !!

And I didn’t mean “just” for pride but it was part of it which was proven by the statements they would make after the games.

Yea I was referring to this country’s workforce in general not just Mahomes or McCaffery. I guess I should have explained that a little better and not just assume that someone that knows everything about everything would know what I meant

@psujoe I worked 25 years as a career, I worked 8 years as a job and a lot of workers today as soon as they got a second free are on their phone, they do not realize how this looks to the public let alone ignoring customers while on their phone.

If you didn’t like Nick Saban before you might have a different opinion about him now. SMH on where college football is today. This won’t end good

I’m pretty sure it’s probably not just Tide players that have this outlook.

Saban is from an era and the type of person who just doesn't put up with shit; and he doesn't have to. No need to hang on when the limb is being cut behind you.

No way in hell Paterno would coach in today's climate either.

Student/athlete athletics are done.

By the way, did you see where the Dartmouth BB team voted to unionize. That's gonna be an interesting play out.

@psu61  is it possible for colleges to go back to the way it was and only give scholarships to play sports? I did see the thing at Dartmouth it’s getting out of hand.
