@roaminglion If it’s nonsense please show me one time where we ever got the nod over any of the teams? I can easily show you where Penn St didn’t ever get the nod
No you can't, because it's never happened in the history of the BCS or CFP. I really don't give a crap about preceived slights from 50 years ago, anyone voting back then is dead.
The only slight in 50 years would be 1994, and that was for Nebraska who you didn't even mention.
@roaminglion 1968, 1969, 1973 and 1994 are years we finished behind Texas, Ohio St, Nebraska. In 1973 we finished 5th behind ND, Ohio St, Oklahoma and Alabama the same teams I told you and 3 of ‘em had a loss or tie so it’s not nonsense. We didn’t then and we won’t now ever get the nod over any of these teams…period and 1994 proves that!
I mean, congratulations... voters from 60+ years ago slighted us. They are all dead. None of them are alive, who gives a chit.
Yes you mentioned Nebraska, my bad.
@roaminglion has another conference champ got left out and sent another team? Look who the team was..Ohio St as usual. While the big 10 championship game was going on all Jim Delany was doing was cheerleading for Ohio St and Michigan but you were at the game so you missed it. It is what it is we will never get in over any of the teams I mentioned if we got the same amount of losses so like remoh said, we have to go undefeated to get in under this system but that’ll change when we go to 12 teams thank god.
It’s also politics in college football so why would it ever change. Politics is politics regardless of what it’s in.
Nah, Penn State doesn't have to go undefeated to get in the CFP. In 2016 we barely didn't make it at #%, and absolutley would have been in with 1 loss. Had we beat OSU in 2017, same thing... we would have been in. In 2019 had we beat Ohio State we would have been in there too.
A 1 loss Big Ten champ has never been left out.
You mean a one loss Big Ten champ named OSU has never been left out. If you think there isn't a bias towards certain teams you're kidding yourself.

It continues today. If you think that bias towards certain teams doesn't exist all you have to do is take a good look at our very own southernpsufan's top 5 rankings from the past couple years.

Actually we're both wrong. The only 1 loss Big Ten champion ever left out was.... OHIO STATE in 2018.
Oh, and Michigan State had 1 loss and went to the CFP in 2015.
Yeah, that didn't make sense in 2018. Ohio State beat 5 ranked teams during the season...1 in the top 10 and 1 in the top 4 but lost to an unranked Purdue by 29 points....I remember that game.
The Sooners beat 2 ranked teams and lost to one ranked team....none in the top 10. AND they went to OT with Army on top of it all.....now that I have looked back at it.
At the end of the day, they are expanding the CFP field and this should take care of all this. I am sure the first team out will complain, but I doubt any of the teams ranked outside of the top 10 have a reasonable chance of winning it all anyway. What I like about the expansion is giving teams like Penn State another chance who seem to be peaking late in the year. Or one of the current top teams that are undefeated until the last two weeks and then drop one.
What do I know!! I am hanging my hat that Penn State is going to be on an 11-0 run when they go to Columbus next year! I like what I am seeing and NOT JUST beating up some bad teams the last three weeks, but the overall attitude with this young group of talented players. I truly believe after the Ohio State loss they matured, gained more confidence and NOW want that 10 win season plus a bowl win over a ranked team more than ever. AND THEY CAN DO IT!
I still believe the shutout was a huge confidence builder for our defense. With all the young guys rotating in for meaningful playing time and more than holding their own, I think we're going to be really tough to score on down the road. I'm old school and a firm believer in the offense fills the stands but the defense wins the game, lol.
I just read on pennlive that we could play Ole Miss in the citrus bowl or Clemson in the orange bowl. I’d rather play Clemson because ole miss has 3 losses and I want to beat a team with 1 or 2 losses. Hopefully we get hooked up with the Rose Bowl or Orange. I’m so ready for a 12 team playoff. First we need to kick the chit out of Michigan State then we can see where we end up
I just rather go back to the old days than watch this BS biased committee. At least in the old days you had to earn your way to a bowl game. Oregon climbed 3 spots over us we stay at 11th. This ain’t nothing but hog chit. They’re talking TCU can lose this week and still get in and LSU is definitely gettin in if they beat Georgia with 2 losses. They even talking alabama getting in lol
Man I hope Clemson wins out to throw a wrench in all this crap. Ain’t no way they will let us play in a NY6 bowl anyway. I’m still trying to figure out why Tennessee didn’t drop out of the top 10 they’ve been exposed. Vanderbilt will beat Tennessee this weekend just wait and see.
The answer you seek is a 128-Team, unseeded, random-draw tournament beginning in week 5. The concept removes the "opinion" of all the experts and puts the responsibility on the entirety of each team to perform each and every week. A team either wins or drops to the next lower bracket. If a player ops out, next-man up. If the next-man can't perform, that is an indication of a coaching / recruiting failure. Coaches are part of the team.
Michigan seems to often receive the benefit of loose officiating. If the rules are not enforced, there are no rules. If there are no rules, one team will benefit more than the other.
If not for Clifford, Penn State had a good chance of beating Ohio State.
Clifford should never have been the starter this year. He should have been a back-up from the beginning.
Manny Diaz has brought a culture of toughness to Penn State. That culture is starting to take hold. The defense is why Penn State might make it to 10 and 2. Clifford is the reason for the 2.
So doing the 128 team mean’s doing away with conferences and do the brackets at the beginning of the season tae? Or you saying do the brackets at week 5? I’m assuming if it’s week 5 you can do the tournament in 7 weeks and we’ll have our NC and every team gets a shot?

He's saying do regular games until week 5 when the tournament starts. I'm not sure why any team would care about the first 4 games though, probably use them as practice.
I just don’t think it will work especially just drawing teams because Alabama could draw Ohio St first game. I’d rather have a 16 team playoff system that way we all know the best team is in the top 16 plus it leaves room for teams like UCF or maybe a CC if they’re having on of those years where they’re undefeated. 12 will do but 16 would be better and end the season for all the other teams. This keeps the polls and regular season very important. Just my opinion
@southern-psu-fan If Alabama plays Ohio State in the first week, there will be a lot of other teams and fans who will be happy. With a 16-team seeded tournament, number 1 or 3 will play number 2 or 4 in the final game.
Personally, I liked the system before the BCS and all this malarky began. College football should not be about which team wins a national championship. It should be about much more and most importantly it should be an avenue for kids to obtain an education. But since the greedy goofballs screwed up college football, I say go all in and make it a true team sport. If a team has a loss and the players opt-out, they weren't a true team.

@tae-buetel me too, Tae. Win the education, conference championship and where the chips fall, they fall!
@tae-buetel That would make sense if the system before the BCS was about education, but it wasn't and was actually worse. Kids were graduating school who couldn't even read back then.
@roaminglion Roam, My integrity does not allow me to disagree with you. College football has been abused and corrupted for far too long. However, the ill intent, greed and narrow-mindedness of some is not justified simply because they have been able to win generalized acceptance.
I believe the game should be played by student-athletes. I also believe universities should be held accountable for graduation rates and for ensuring the students are enrolled in programs of study at a rate similar to the entire student body.
I believe universities have a responsibility to the Civil Society. The athletic programs should not be just a source of income.

IMO Univesities are there to prepare you for life. Jobs. Sports is a job too, and leaving early because you are ready for that job should not be a negative.
Especially in todays world, where you can continue your education online while in the pros.
That said, we should all strive for a well rounded education. I agree with you that while in school, there should be a high standard for athletes when it comes to academics
Sheet can the portal, NIL and Freshman eligibility, Bring back the Freshman team! lol!!
We have to be undefeated AND beat 1 or 2 in the bowl game.
I suppose if the OSU/MSU game is close the B10 could get 2 teams in. ESPN will not promote it.
