Uh-Oh, interesting fodder or the direction of things to come? If its a go, who do you see joining the Big Ten; ND, Syracuse, MZ, VA Tech, UVa, TX AM, OKS, others?
I ain’t heard anything 61, what’s up?
Looking into joining SEC. Could be just a ploy to squeeze the 12 for better contracts???

ACC pushing hard for ND....just read that. Would love to have ND in the Big10. I think it would be a good thing....IMO. Kind of getting stale the last few years. Same old, same old. Time for a shake up!!
Good luck getting 11 schools to all vote yes. Mizzou and Texas A&M are definitely a no, and I can imagine LSU and some others wouldn't been to keen on those schools either.
Texas and Oklahoma are just... I hate them. Those two, especially Texas, are the REASON 4 other schools (Colorado, Nebraska, A&M, and Mizzou) left the Big 12 in the first place.
@roaminglion yep they think they’re better than everybody else especially Texas they are greedy and want all the money to themselves. I’d rather have Oklahoma than Texas or ND. Oklahoma would be fun have Penn St/Oklahoma on one side and Michigan/Ohio St on the other.
I was reading all the post and I guess my post was for 61 and roam because he asked who would be best for big 10 lol
Bobby B was one of the good old boys. I always thought he was a good coach and true gentleman.
Give me ND and Pitt if they are taking 2 into the B1G to make 16 teams. If I had my choice, it would be TX, OK, ND, and Pitt to make the B1G a super conference. The regular season games would be awesome and it would be even more of a cash cow than it is now.

I think if you go with those four it does create a pretty damn good Super conference. Would essentially wrap up the Midwest north to south and the Northeast with a dose of the mid Atlantic. Pretty damn good basketball schools and academics also.
Geographically and culturally... the schools which would make sense for the Big 10 would be Pitt, ND, Iowa State, and Missouri. The jettison Rutgers and Maryland to make it 16 total. It would certainly make the conference more of the midwest feel it was in the past, and all those schools have natural rivals in the Big 10
The B1G will never kick out Rutgers because they want their tentacles in the New York metro market...Maryland in the B1G has always been a head scratcher for me...I would think West Virginia instead of Missouri...Pitt, ND, West Virginia, Iowa State, Syracuse & Boston College would make a 20 team super conference...that would give you 2 10 team divisions that would allow either 2 cross over division games or 1 cross over and out of conference game or 2 out of conference games...Honestly this is what college football is going to come to...You are going to have 3 20 team super conferences or something of that sort...I know Mike Francesa opined on his show a few years back that super conferences outside of the NCAA were discussed and that they were talking about a 45 to 60 team super conference for football broken up in geographic regions...I believe he said there would be a west, southwest, southeast, midwest, atlantic & northeast regional conferences...He also said at one point it was really close to happening and predicted that within 10 years that was going to be the case...It appears that he may end up being right after all...

West Virginia does not match the Big Ten culturally though... Bad academics and not nearly the research institutions Iowa State and Missouri are. Boston College is out on an island, which I wanted to get away from in my hypothetical example.
Plus, I think 20 is too many anyway.
Ultimately, everything comes down to money. Which is why Rutgers and Maryland were invited to the B1G and will never be asked to leave. They give the B1G the NYC and D.C. TV markets. Because of that, Iowa St and Missouri are probably not a fit for the B1G’s agenda. TX and ND would bring big time TV revenue and OK would certainly bring more than Missouri and Iowa St. Realistically, for all reasons we have both discussed (regional TV, academics, geography) it has been rumored for several years that UVa and BC would be the next two schools invited to the B1G. The UVa rumors have started up again on some other sites. It’s a great academic institution and would allow the B1G to creep further south into ACC territory and lock up the MidAtlantic TV market from Richmond to NYC. We will see but I find it hard to believe that the SEC would explore expanding and the B1G would sit by idle and observe.
In today’s climate looking forward, I’d say screw the SEC and take the lead on expansion; create the rules instead of following them. This train ain’t stopping or derailing, might as well be the Big Locomotive Engineer.
LOL, it's MY hypothetical... I know Rutgers isn't being kicked out. LMAO.

Virginia would have to give up the farm to join the Big Ten. The ACC would keep their TV rights for years, and they'd have to pay ridiculous fees. I seriously doubt anyone is leaving the ACC anytime soon, they locked it up tight after Maryland left. Besides, they have a new contract and make good money... why on earth would Virginia want to leave anyway?
@roaminglion You may be right about UVa and their ACC commitment. However, it does come down to money and the B1G has the deepest pockets (last I saw it wasn’t even close) of any conference currently. UVA would probably improve their revenue by joining the B1G and receiving their share of the pie. It is my understanding that all members of the B1G share the revenue equally. If that isn’t correct, anyone can correct me, please?
Throw enough money in the right diretion and things happen. If the Big wants UVa, they will buy UVa. Thing with UVa is the fan base/traveling sucks. If UVa isn't riding a long win streak the fans stay at home.

I think a viable option for Virginia would be to get some others to leave the ACC as well. Kind of like the nuclear option, blow it all up so there's no one left.
If they aren't able to do that, it really would make zero sense for them. They would forfeit their TV rights until 2036. If they could find a way out of that, then they may do it.
What do yall think about Kansas's interest in the Big?
Wouldn’t it be great if the ACC traded Virginia for Penn State ole southern would be jumping for joy and doing cartwheels 😁. The SEC gets Texas and Oklahoma and we get Kansas and Missouri lol how depressing
Ya know years ago it made sense for PSU, Syracuse, BC, Pitt and VA Tech or WV to join the ACC from a football and basketball perspective.
@psu61 You may be right. But the B1G would get major additions with UVA basketball, lacrosse, and baseball. I would assume that basketball is the big attraction with UVA. Regardless, it’s a very good academic institution with a medical school, etc. I have to admit, I’d selfishly like to see the addition. I have family about 45 minutes from Charlottesville and that would be an away game I’d love to go to. It’s a beautiful area.
