ESPN posted an article that the QB for Alabama is at about the million dollar mark in endorsements...Of course tricky Nicky spouted off about how the Alabama brand delivered those endorsements to the kid...That didn't take long now did it...If T. Boone Pickins was still alive Oklahoma State would be an instant juggernaut...The endorsement deals and the dollars these kids are going to make is going to be as entertaining as the games themselves...The impact this is going to have on recruiting is going to be incredible...

Part of me says, Good for them! The other part of me is sadly appalled.

Food for thought...just like professional sports, should there be a cap on endorsements? Do you think a cap is coming?

Is this kid going to give some to the linemen that protect his -ss?

I don’t think this is going to a place that is good.

Aint nobody sharing nothing,"whats mine is mine is mine; go out and earn your own".

Problem is now you have collegiate kids making money and as above some other collegiate kid protecting his ass in a non-profile position (lineman) who isn't getting paid but bucking up every week, week in week out, getting injured and retiring broke from collegiate ball; that's gonna get old. Somehow the system is just gonna have to outright pay kids something in order for there to be some semblance of integrity. I didn't say pay equally or fairly, but pay something.

@psu61  61, if the pro teams don’t stay out of politics the college players might be making more than the NFL down the road. Pro sports are headed down a slow painful death because people are losing interest because they won’t stay out of politics. Of course they are already millionaires so they probably don’t care lol

Keep in mind there is no salary cap in big time college football...Many of these kids will make more money than players in the NFL...These endorsement deals are open ended so it isn't a stretch to say that the top flight players at a big money school will make more than an average NFL player...I can honestly see some of these kids making 3 to 5 million a year in endorsement deals...Maybe even more...Big Time College Football has now become a professional sport...

I don't  believe there is a salary cap on endorsements in the NFL either. Just salary from the team.

Lets give it a chance because I think it’s new, something different but IMO after the new wears off the endorsement money will probably cool off some that’s assuming if the money does get big. I go with the flow unless it starts taking money out of my pocket 😂

I agree Southern, in the past 30 years I've heard every new policy that's come along said to be what will kill college football.

And it's a slow, agonizing death I think.

This isn't the end of college football...College football as we know it is dead...This is going to change the landscape significantly...You are going to see the big money schools emerge as the recruiting giants...It's become all about money now...Which schools can hand out the most endorsement money will get the best recruits...It has become a professional league now...

Well this was supposed to be Ryan Day saying he believes all endorsements money should be spread around to all the football players. I’ve said the same thing but I need to see more on how all this plays out. The kids still get an education but if they work their butts off they might get endorsement outside of what the school gives. Work hard and you might get more

@the-funeral-director   I don’t think so FD we are just use to hearing the ncaa say you can’t do this and you can’t do that when in reality they never should’ve never had that right anyway  because it’s none of their business how somebody makes money as long as it’s not taking it from the schools under the table and it’s not breaking the law. I believe we’ll see better college football because now money is on the line and these kids will try hard. It’s in our nature to try hard when money is on the line just look at the NBA and NFL and Jehovah God planned it this way, it was mans punishment to work lol

Pay'em what they're worth; free market. What will be interesting is to see if players from the past don't initiate lawsuits to get in on the action.

@psu61   I think the Supreme Court ruled on the ncaa side years back so they might not be able to considering they were following the law but that’s way above my head we need navyjag in here for that lol

Ryan Day has no right to tell any player how to spend or spread around their own money. PERIOD.
