"It's clear the games don't matter"To me the whole thing is a farce...You have a team with 1 loss ranked ahead of 4 unbeaten teams...You have a pile of 1 loss teams ranked ahead of 3 other unbeaten teams...It's clear the games don't matter and it is all a beauty pageant...Lets be clear this is a way to control the playoffs and who travels on the road and who gets to play at home...This has nothing to do with competition...
No... they do matter. It matters that Georgia played Alabama, and Liberty hasn't. Not all wins are the same, pollsters live in reality, not a perfect world where every team is just as difficult to play as everyone else.
Going undefeated in the MAC doesn't mean you are better than 1 loss Georgia.
...and before you strawman that statement, it doesn't mean that MAC school shouldn't get a shot. They should. But these are people's opinions of who the best teams are, not some diversity and equality program where an undefeated from the Sun Belt gets treated like they played a Big Ten schedule.
Let them in the playoff, no one is arguing they shouldnt. But don't call people corrupt or stupid just because they don't agree that Georgia isn't as good as any undefeated team regardless of who they played. Thinking Georgia is better than Pitt doesn't make someone corrupt.
You can only play who is on your schedule...Maybe if Bama scheduled a team like Liberty or BYU instead of playing Mercer we would know...You can't penalize a team for their schedule...This is the shell game that is played every year...They rank these teams so high and when they play with themselves and lose it's the built in malarkey that nobody plays the schedule they play...Give me a f**kin break...If you are a division 1 football team and win all of your games you deserve to be in the playoffs...If that isn't the case then clarify it and allow those teams and those conferences to leave and create a division where they have a shot to play for a national title...They said the same nonsense about UCF a few years back...This isn't a beauty contest...You compete and when you lose you drop back...
So an overhyped as usual Clemson team that plays in a shit conference + got hammered by the only team worth talking about on its schedule should get into the playoff over those other teams?
I wish we had 8 good conferences and take the conference champs for an 8 teams playoff system and the season is over for the other teams because nobody cares about the bowls anymore except for me I love bowl games lol
I’m even open to getting 16 conferences
Yet Bama scheduled Wisconsin and you completely dismiss that fact and go right to Mercer like they are the only team scheduling FCS squads. Teams in the MAC schdule those teams too...You can only play who is on your schedule...Maybe if Bama scheduled a team like Liberty or BYU instead of playing Mercer we would know...You can't penalize a team for their schedule...This is the shell game that is played every year...They rank these teams so high and when they play with themselves and lose it's the built in malarkey that nobody plays the schedule they play...Give me a f**kin break...If you are a division 1 football team and win all of your games you deserve to be in the playoffs...If that isn't the case then clarify it and allow those teams and those conferences to leave and create a division where they have a shot to play for a national title...They said the same nonsense about UCF a few years back...This isn't a beauty contest...You compete and when you lose you drop back...
Go ask Liberty if they think it is easier to play a bunch of Sun Belt teams or a bunch of Big Ten teams. See what their answer is.
The reality is conferences are not the same.
I would be completely open to 10 conferences with auto bids. Win and you get a spot. Why not?I’m even open to getting 16 conferences
I wish we had 8 good conferences and take the conference champs for an 8 teams playoff system and the season is over for the other teams because nobody cares about the bowls anymore except for me I love bowl games lol
I’ve been saying for years that conference championship games should be counted as part of the playoffs. If you lose in your conference championship game you are eliminated. There’s no reason that a team should have to possibly defeat another team multiple times to win a NC.
We now have a 12 team playoff. Win your games and you have a chance. It’s been 38 years since PSU won the national championship and rest assured it will be 39 years after January 2025.
I will argue this til I have no more breath in my lungs...I don't give a good goddamn who it is...If you go undefeated and win your conference you should be in the national championship tournament over EVERY 1 loss team...PERIOD...What they did to FSU last year was a disgrace...Win your game and you advance...Lose you go home...I don't wanna hear about eye tests, opinions or any other cock and bull excuse you can name about some idiots rating or some computer...I can manipulate any statistic into knots to put a team in over any other...You line up and play...Winners advance losers go home...NOBODY is gonna convince me that all of this isn't manipulated...Last year was a prime example of that...The way this is set up it is a popularity contest that has nothing to do with honest competition...Like I said...Mark my words...They are gonna manipulate this thing so that the teams they want to advance are going to seeded to play at home...I am also going to predict that 80% of the 6 teams they put in from the SEC will have home games or byes to start...Their conference champ will get a bye and the #1 seed and 4 of the other 5 will be seeded to have home games to start the tournament...lets see how accurate I am with this prediction...They do this by manipulating the rankings which they have already done...ESPN has paid billions and that is they are business partners with that conference...Not only do they have their network they also have the broadcast rights to their games...it's all about the money...Honest tournaments and competition are a thing of the past...
I believe there is bias and that ESPN has undue influence on the polls.
I believe that computer rankings based on schedule are a help but at least initially they must start with a 'voted strength' as a baseline.
I like that teams will have to come north to play, that helps with the SEC 'speed' bias. But I fear the SEC continues to be overrated due to being the ESPN Conference.
How significant is the bias? I don't know but surely we can agree there is bias...or maybe not.
Question for you... if every team has a loss, do 2 loss teams go to the back of the bus?I will argue this til I have no more breath in my lungs...I don't give a good goddamn who it is...If you go undefeated and win your conference you should be in the national championship tournament over EVERY 1 loss team...PERIOD...What they did to FSU last year was a disgrace...Win your game and you advance...Lose you go home...I don't wanna hear about eye tests, opinions or any other cock and bull excuse you can name about some idiots rating or some computer...I can manipulate any statistic into knots to put a team in over any other...You line up and play...Winners advance losers go home...NOBODY is gonna convince me that all of this isn't manipulated...Last year was a prime example of that...The way this is set up it is a popularity contest that has nothing to do with honest competition...Like I said...Mark my words...They are gonna manipulate this thing so that the teams they want to advance are going to seeded to play at home...I am also going to predict that 80% of the 6 teams they put in from the SEC will have home games or byes to start...Their conference champ will get a bye and the #1 seed and 4 of the other 5 will be seeded to have home games to start the tournament...lets see how accurate I am with this prediction...They do this by manipulating the rankings which they have already done...ESPN has paid billions and that is they are business partners with that conference...Not only do they have their network they also have the broadcast rights to their games...it's all about the money...Honest tournaments and competition are a thing of the past...

Take a look at ESPiNS playoff bracket, 3 home games for the SEC just like I predicted they would do. The SEC and the ACC are scared shitless of having to play a playoff game when they don’t have home field advantage for the first time in their history and ESPiN is going to do everything in their power to protect them. The biggest joke so far is that they continue their love fest with Dabbo and have Clemson in the top ten even though they got their @sses kicked by the only good team on their schedule.
Former PennLive Penn State columnist David Jones receives rare honor: FWAA Lifetime Achievement Award
The FD will have a field day with this. I’ll admit I always liked reading what this dude had to say lol
You have got to be shitting me...That fraud getting any kind of award makes that award a total farce...Whoever that organization is just lost a lot of credibility giving David "what am I gonna fabricate today" Jones...Speaking of frauds what ever happened to the "Illustrious" Ms. Ganim...Her career went down the tank because she was a fraud as well...It won't be long before the truth behind all of the Sandusky stuff comes out...Thank God this hack is out...Good riddance Davey Boy...Time to go away for good...
YES!!! to answer your question Roam...If you got 2 losses that is more losses than the 1 loss teams so you get ranked behind em even if you beat the 1 loss team head to head...Obviously if both teams have the same record a head to head win would be the tie breaker...
you could straighten this strength of schedule nonsense out quite easily...You have a team that is ranked #3 in the country in the pre season polls...lets say that #3 ranked team is 2-7 week 9...The team that beat that team week 1 when they were #3 in the country shouldn't get credit for a top 5 win...you adjust your SOS according to how the teams are doing and I can tell ya that would help to straighten some of this baloney out...Although there is nothing you can do when they pack a top 10 ranking with 7 teams from the same conference to ensure they get 3 or 4 teams with home games due to seeding...I am sure you are going to see a conference with at least 5 teams in and as many as 7 and I will also say you will see that conference with the 5 to 7 teams in have at least 4 of em with home games and as many as 5 of em with home games to start as their conference champ will have a home game as well...Trust me they are going to manipulate this thing as much as they can...The seeding is going to be a real interesting thing to see because they are going to twist themselves into pretzels to get the seedings and the matchups the way they want them...
...but you have argued in the past Penn State got screwed in 2016. We had 2 losses.YES!!! to answer your question Roam...If you got 2 losses that is more losses than the 1 loss teams so you get ranked behind em even if you beat the 1 loss team head to head...Obviously if both teams have the same record a head to head win would be the tie breaker...
@roaminglion and I’ve argued Ohio St and Alabama got rewarded for losing and sitting home watching other teams fight it out on the field for conference championships. We needs a system where you have to earn your way in the playoffs and get everybody’s opinions out of the way just like the NFL does. If we gotta get more conferences divisions then get it done. I don’t know how to do it but I’m pretty confident that we have folks that do. It’s was always supposed to be about the 4 best teams not the 4 teams who have the best record because teams can get better as the season goes. We know we were better than Ohio St because we beat ‘em and we won the conference championship it ain’t complicated if Jim Delany keeps his nose out of it and don’t cheerlead for Ohio St and Michigan.
On the defensive of the SEC commissioner he let the chips fall where that fall he didn’t sway the committee to vote one way or another he stayed out of the way.
My Falcons got another win last night baby. I believe they’re pretty good but they have to get better. I love the red helmets.
@southern-psu-fan That's 'cause the SEC commish lets E$PN do his PR work for him. lol
@been-there-ii I know that’s right brother lol I’d like to know what the difference is with Alabama getting in over Florida St last year and Ohio St getting in over us in 2016 because Penn St and Alabama had one more loss than the other 2 teams? That CFP committee would never leave the SEC out of the playoffs..period I don’t care how many losses they have, it ain’t happening.
And Penn State did get screwed because they won their conference championship and beat the team head to head that got in...So yes they did get screwed...A conference champion should ALWAYS get in over any other team in their conference...My whole argument with this thing is there should NEVER be 2 teams from the same conference in a 4 team tournament for the national championship...Last year was the most egregious example of such nonsense...You had an undefeated conference champion left out...Like I said before I can't stand FSU and hope they get the crap beat out of em every game...They are like the Yankmees to me as they can't lose enough but with that being said they went undefeated and won their conference they belonged in...PERIOD...That is what makes this whole thing a farce...Last year they wanted Bama in...That was all there was to it...The only way they could do that was to leave out an undefeated conference champ because Texas beat Bama head to head...It was rigged...The funny thing is BOTH teams they twisted themselves into a pretzel to put in got beat first round...A joke...
@the-funeral-director isn’t it funny that when the people lobbying to get what they want are wrong they never admit it? There’s nothing but silence when it blows up in their face.
