Hope it's true.  Wish Tommy & Joe the best of luck.

If true it kinda blows up that whole "he doesn't want to compete" narrative. He was likely to get the QB spot here, but yes still had to compete with Clifford for it...

...but if he goes to Mississippi State he steps into what will be a HEATED battle for the starting position with Keytaon Thompson, who was the #5 Dual Threat QB in the 2017 class. Certainly doubt Stevens would think he'd be guaranteed the spot there, unless Moorhead is telling him that. Which, I must admit, he could be due to the two knowing each other previously here at PSU. I just doubt Moorhead would guarantee him anything.

Doesnt give much credence to the whole "he's a pussy" cause he's transferring nonsense either.

He can step in and start at Ga Tech because we don’t have a true QB.

Doesn’t matter to me.  I feel the way I do and don’t care where he lands. He’s leaving psu because either he didn’t get told he’s the starting Qb or because daddy  didn’t get told he the starter. Either way it’s a pussy move. He could have just kept his mouth shut and competed for the job.  As for the MS job, said he COULD  land there. Didn’t say would.

Complete assumption on your part, and again... It is interesting that on the other thread you went out of your way to tell us our opinions were wrong because they were based on speculation and assumption, yet you are doing the same exact thing here.

Simple fact is you have no idea why he entered the portal. He looked into transferring last year too, which had nothing to do with promises and competition. Sure, he dad said something to a reporter... doesn't make it true. Unless it comes from Tommy, it don't mean squat. I've seen too many parents say stuff that ain't true to take any of them at face value, especially when it comes to their kid playing. Could be true, might not be. Who knows.

At the end of the day, who cares. It's a 22 year old kid and others have done the same. Some called Russell Wilson a pussy when he chose to transfer to Wisconsin too. The NC State coach wouldn't commit to him starting his senior year due to "loyalty" concerns with baseball. IMO he made the right decision and went Wisconsin... started... got drafted... and now makes millions upon millions of dollars. At night I am sure he thinks about his ditractors while wipeing away his tears with $100 bills. LMAO

I did not assume, I went by what his dad said AFTER we had the assumption conversation. “Stevens’ father “reiterated” to Franklin and Rahne that Stevens couldn’t afford to wait until August and then find out he’s not Penn State’s starter. All his doors would be closed by that point”

Oh okay, because a newspaper used the word "reiterated"... well that settles everything.

Sarcastic I know, but you and I just disagree on trusting what a parent says. For me, if it isn't coming from Tommy's mouth I don't care. Plenty of parents say or do things their kids don't want them to.

Doing what I do for a living I can confidently say that a 22 year old football player at a D1 school doesn’t let his dad make his decisions.  They’re all pretty mature and capable of making their own decisions. They may speak through mom or dad but those decisions are their own.

I think he will show up at a school where he is shoe in to earn the starting spot. The competition at Mississippi State may be too high. Stevens  is leaving PSU because he didn’t want to battle Clifford.

I agree with sky on this one and I’m still hoping he ends up at Ga Tech 😂 but just like every other penn st player that transfers I’ll be pulling for ‘em unless they play penn st then they can kiss my butt lol

We should hope so but millennials aren’t as independent as they should be. Anyway, Stevens isn’t the fist guy that went to a major college athletic program who couldn’t find a spot.

Bill, sorry to disagree with you on this one, but your statement here is based on assumptions.  I don't know how you can possibly say that all 22 year old football players at D1 schools are pretty mature and make their own decisions independent  of mom or dad.  Just as an example, I don't believe I would call Johnny football very mature based on the decisions he's made.  Also, if Tommy was really mature and made the decision independently, why didn't he man up and announce it himself?  I wouldn't consider speaking through dad as being very mature.

I didn't say Tommy wasn't making his own decisions, I said his father may have spoken out about something he should not have.

Not sure how you got Tommy not making his own decisions out of my posts. What I actually said was Tommy has HIS OWN REASONS for entering the portal. For all we know, after his dad gave that interview he may have called him and told him to shut the hell up. Just because a father says it doesn't make it true. I am sure in those 22 years of doing what you do, Tommy's father wouldn't be the first parent to say something stupid.

I didn't say you said Tommy was not making his own decisions.  To the contrary, you stated "a 22 year old football player at a D1 school doesn’t let his dad make his decisions.  They’re all pretty mature and capable of making their own decisions."  My reply questioned how you could make the assumption that he did make his own decision based on that statement alone.  I tend to think, and its only my opinion, that Tommy didn't make the decision to transfer on his own.   You're right, I don't know if Tommy told his father to shut up after he gave the interview.  I just feel that it would be appropriate for Tommy to issue his own statement.

I think you have Bill and I mixed up a bit...

Either way we all have our opinions 😁😁😁, and all entitled to them.

If the kid wants out show him the door...you force a kid to stay and he gets beat out now you have a malcontent and a cancer on the team... He don't want to stay and compete you are better off letting him walk... As far as him transferring to Mississippi State is concerned that makes a lot of sense and I hope he is happy there and has success...

How DARE Tommy Stevens leave the Penn state university!

It's a free country, land of the free and he doesn't owe anyone an excuse or apology.  Only spineless cowards would have something negative to say of his own choices. Need I say calling him a pussy.  That's pretty sad.
