Didn’t the greatest of all time Joe paterno always tell his players if they were going to be first rounders to take the money they didn’t have anything else to prove by coming back for another year? I’m sure he told Maybin the same thing.

I remember seeing an article that quoted Joe offering that advice.  Also he asked them if they decided to leave early, to promise to continue pursuing their degree in the off season.

He also said that if you can get $10k by agreeing to stay, then you should take the $10k and still enter the draft.  Courts won't enforce an illegal contract.  He was counseled by his son Scott on that issue.

I doubt a first  round draft pick is worried about 10k. If he was going to be a 6th or 7th rounder it would be more believable. It’s total BS!
