I absolutely agree. It's about time to make a big change.  It's getting stagnant.  I thought Sandy approved a budget for renovations? Why are they dragging their feet? They don't drag their feet when it comes to salary increases and bonuses.

Another thing I've been saying for a long time.

CHANGE THE UNIFORMS AND HELMETS!

Go all blue.

Blue cleats, blue Pants,  blue jerseys.  Blue helmets with white accents.

@exesuwarrior95

One thing in common with these improvements are they come from private funds (ALUM)...

The uniform should stay traditional but have a few alternates that they can have for a game or two...

I like the all blue...

In the end this kind of stuff can sway a player.

And Leisure suits with white belts and white shoes! Maybe a Nehru jacket inspired jersey for away games.

Now that is just silly...

If you don't think this stuff is a big deal to recruits go on some recruiting visits.

Those facilities are amazing.  Hard to believe how nice they are.  Two comments though.  I really don't see the need for all the games.  Aren't college athletes pretty busy training, studying, going to school and studying film?  And, I didn't see any study rooms or tutors.  I only watched two clips.

The Clemson facility was designed by the firm I work for and there several rooms dedicated to studies...

College athletes still do have some rec time and it is utilized more in the off-season.

If there was no rec time, I could only imagine what we'd be talking about for college sports. Probably the high drop out and suicide rate. These kids are highly stressed and NEED time to relax.

IMHO the type of kids attracted by these bells and whistles are most likely the same ones who will jump into the transfer portal to move on to greener pastures at another institution that offers more perks & tinsel.

Nehru jackets are definitely silly, I’m proud to say I never owned one. That said, the Oenn State white pants, blue or white jersey with minimal markings are one of the most iconic uni’s in college football. Unfortunately I’ve never been recruited for college football and  have never been on a recruiting trip so I can’t speak for what football recruits think.

Couple days ago you were calling PSU a dumpster fire and asking if we needed a fire extinguisher. Now you seem to think you want to change the unis and get better facilities...why should you care?

This personifies everything wrong with college football. FYI, the public schools in South Carolina are among the lowest performers in the USA.

I don't see how private donations to build facilities to take care if the student athlete is wrong.

The problem with public schools is the federal government has their hand in running it etc...

Some people just want to tell others what they can and can't do with their own money.

Donating money to athletics isn't just some South Carolina thing either... Florida & FSU have some very nice facilities and big donors too, nothing wrong with public education in that state as it's ranked #3 in the USA.

Simple fact is money donated from boosters has nothing to do with the state of public education in this country. People who blame coaches making money or boosters donating money for the ills of K-12 just want to blame rich people for more complex issues.

One other thing never mentioned about these new buildings and facilities is that the old buildings are usually renovated and repurposed for academics or other student driven activities. Many times for pennies on the dollar of what the academic funding would have spent to build something from scratch.

The fact is that public education in South Carolina sucks. The fact is that too many people in South Carolina will be upset if Clemson doesn’t beat Ohio State but could care less about average SAT scores of high school students there. The donors that give to Clemson football probably send their children to private schools but could care less about public education.

Joe Pa is rolling in his grave because of the direction college football has gone and is going.

I agree that people can do what they want with their money. It’s just misplaced priorities in my opinion.

Rutgers is about to embark on a significant increase in spending on their football program. How will that impact the State of New Jersey? Will,

1. cancer rates decline ?

2. teens with mental illness get help?

3. crime in Newark, Camden, Trenton, and Patterson decrease?

4. housing options for mentally handicapped adults become more plentiful?

But when (and if) the Scarlet Knights beat PSU, lots of Rutgers students with get drunk, their alumni will feel better about themselves, and the cry to pay their coach a few more million will resonate.

Okay, I made my point. College football and basketball are out of control and each passing day have  less to do with education.

Now go and rant.....

Sky, I see your point and even agree with you.....but this has become the misplaced way of the world for as long as I've been alive. Have enormous political campaign spending made better politicians? Huge advertising budgets made better products? Big insurance premiums made for better medical practice? For that matter, out of control cost of higher education made us smarter?

It is a sports arms race for sure (but in my opinion) its a critical and maybe primary marketing arm for many schools to attract students in the ever dwindling. pool of the post baby boomer era. It would never be this way unless we as consumers allowed it to make it so.

What you're saying is true, Lake, but that doesn't make it right.  On a personal level, I don't have to like it and certainly won't applaud it.  It's sad to see what's happening to college football.  Like the old song says,"the old gray mare she ain't what she used to be".

Are you campaigning to get an already to big federal government out of the school system in SC?

The SAT scores in SC or any state are the responsibility of the parent and the parent taking charge of there child's education and test scores.  Sorry it's not everyone else's  responsibility.

So what if they send their kid to private school or home school... That is their prerogative and their responsibility.  Do you realize while they are spending on that private school education they are still paying school tax in that area for public schools?

Not sure how that will impact the State of N.J. but It's not a footballs programs responsibility to :

Bring down cancer rates.

Go watch an Iowa game and don't tell me the football means nothing to the young cancer patients watching from those windows) (Go tell the young cancer patients that these athletes who participate in THON and help bring in millions every year don't care)

Get help for teens with mental illness

Lower crime rates or

provide housing

What It might do is bring more attention to the University and all its research programs that could have a direct impact on those things.  Out of the maybe 1% of athletes that might go pro the rest will be in productive jobs in society using the education they worked for at their University.  So you can take your narrow minded view of that and shove it where the sun don't shine.

You made no point other than complain about people who worked hard to get what they have and how you think they should spend their money.  Why don't you break down all of the money that Clemson football donors give out side of the football program.  Maybe you would be surprised, or maybe embarrassed.
