according to 247 coach Spencer is heading to the NFL. This hurts but continues to show how Franklins staff members are too notch guys.

Good luck to him, sad to see him go. Difficult man to replace, not only his coaching experience but the attitude he brought to the team and the locker room.

Now the speculation of who could replace him...

This could be a chance to turn the tied on landing 5 star DL.  Big Big hire in my opinion.

I submit my list of coaches that wont be hired... LOL

Randall Joyner DL SMU  (Tutored under Larry Johnson at OSU for 2 years)

Jemial Ashley DL Tulsa

Lewis Powell DL Utah

Vinson Reynolds DL Syracuse

Graig (no chance in hell) Kuligowski DL Alabama

I’d like to see that list of coaches James Franklin keeps lol. When you see all the coaches leaving for other good if not great coaching positions we see how we were able to get through the sanctions without a losing season and racking up on 11 win seasons playing with one hand tied behind our backs on a few of them years. James Franklin will come through ain’t no doubt in my mind. Even greater days are on the way baby!

I've seen a few people mention that Franklin is now following the DE coach from Clemson: Lemanski Hall.

@roaminglion

Dude has a pretty dang good track record rather as a player, coach or just helping kids out volunteering. Looks like he’s climbing the ladder at Clemson but he looks like a great get if James Franklin got him. Would Penn State pay him more money because him and Dabo go back a long way?

I'm not one to jump on the hire a guy because he is a PSU alum, but I would be thrilled with this guy as the DL coach.

I could see Lavar coming on as a LB coach - giving Pry more time to focus on the complete defensive strategy.  I've never been a fan of coordinators being position coaches too,   let the coordinator focus on total defensive schemes 100% of the time, and let a LB coach focus on technique and skill sets necessary to being the best lineback you can be .. 100% of the time.    On that thought, get 1 coach for the secondary ... not a seperate safeties coach and a seperate cornerbacks coach.  You give this job to 1 man, you can free up a position to get a DL coach.

Considering lavar was more of a natural talent, and not exactly a well-disciplined player, I'm not sure how effective he be at coaching. Just my opinion

Lavar would fall under that category of a big NO to a PSU alum given a coaching job.

If Lavar really wanted to coach and had those aspirations you think he would have broken into it with a small local college.   Love Lavar but not on board giving him a job on the staff

Texas a&m is a 7-5 to 8-4 football team if they have a good coach you’d think Penn State would be a better job for him but I’ll wish him good things especially since he played at a Penn State.

Well A&M could have given him more money plus he may be happy where he is and A&M is an outstanding school.
