They all play with themselves down there...Old Dominion is beating Virginia Tech right now...Purdue beat BC today...Louisville got beat today....Bama's out of league schedule is a joke...The SEC isn't what it was 4 or 5 years ago...The best conference in the country didn't even get a team in the playoff last year...My question is how many losses disqualifies them from the playoff? Obviously not qualifying for your conference championship doesn't disqualify you...I am just sick and tired of everybody genuflecting to this guy...How great of a coach was he at Michigan State? How bout when he took over the Miami Dolphins? Everybody acts like the son of a bitch is Vince Lombardi and he isn't...I believe if you put that team in the B1G eastern division they lose 2 games or more...ESPN pumps that conference up cause they are in bed financially with them...Who is worth a shit in the ACC conference this year? Seriously? The SEC has how many teams that are worth a shit? LSU, Bama and Georgia? who else? you wanna add Mississippi State? Auburn? Ain’t no way you’ll ever convince me that the crooked NCAA and the power 5 conferences will let outsiders decide who plays for the NC. The games are not rigged but who gets in the playoffs is? I don't give a god damn about 9 years ago or even 5 years ago...This is college football and rosters turn over yearly...You base your decisions on THIS year...These teams all play with themselves so you really never get an idea of who is good and who isn't...Right now I have concluded that the ACC is the weakest conference in the country...I don't think there is a team in that conference that is worth a shit...Again the SEC is overhyped as you can lose games if your one of the sacred cows and you may drop 4 or 5 slots in the polls but a B1G team loses a ballgame on the road they drop 10 to 15 slots...The PAC 12 and the B1G tend to get screwed over unless the team name is Ohio State or Michigan because they pass the "eyeball test"...The Big 12 is another conference that gets overlooked unless your name is Oklahoma or Texas as they are also beauty contest winners...Don't get me wrong as I actually love going to Tuscaloosa and having some dreamland ribs...The Bama fans are wonderful people but lets not get this whole thing twisted...Saban ain't Vince Lomardi...When losing games doesn't matter and you get a pass based on a friggin "eyeball test" there is something very wrong...In about a month this whole thing should become much clearer but I ask how many losses Alabama needs to be disqualified from consideration for the playoff as we all know 1 isn't enough and not playing for your conference title doesn't disqualify you either...It is actually entertaining and very funny listening to the bloviating gasbags sit there trying to convince you of how great some of these teams are...Remember how great Auburn was last year? How many games did they lose? UCF didn't seem to have much trouble handling them in their bowl game..What was the SEC bowl record last year? So you reward one of the weaker conferences with 2 teams in the playoff and leave out the best conference from playing? The whole thing is a farce...

If you aren't playing in your conference championship game you should be disqualified from playing for a National Championship...That is all there is to it...

Penn State is as good as anybody in the country...Talent, speed and athleticism is as good as anybody...They need to improve, mature and win their games...If they do that they will be in the CFP...Don't expect any kid gloves treatment like the glamor schools get...

I agree FD, if you don’t win your conference you ain’t going to the playoffs, this ain’t complicated, win your conference and you’re in and if you don’t you ain’t in it’s that simple. I was having a discussion with Mr Jones over on pennlive and in one breat he said the system was rigged against teams like UCF getting in the playoffs but then tried to convince me that it ain’t rigged lol. It’s either rigged or it ain’t rigged. It’s rigged! BTW FD I have to disagree with you on slick Nick, he’s a better coach the Vince Lambardi.

Of course it is Southern...The minute you hear "eyeball test" being thrown around to justify putting one team in over another team that actually won football games you know this thing is no longer an athletic contest but has become a beauty pageant...They do all they can to control the teams that are in this thing and to make it as difficult on any outside program as possible to have a chance at beating their sacred cows...even the venues are rigged in favor of their sacred cows...When was the last time Bama played a semifinal playoff game outside of new orleans or atlanta? Hell I am surprised that Saban hasn't convinced the lemmings that he should get to play the semifinal game in Tuscaloosa...I mean they kiss his ass with everything else they might as well give him a home game or even better yet just give em a bye to the championship game...

Not sure that it bodes well for the defense when your team tackle leaders are two safeties!

The Penn State football program has  a lot of work to do this week to prepare for Ohio State this Saturday...As Roam says they need to get the linebacker play squared away...poor tackling, lack of discipline leading to unnecessary penalties, missed assignments, bad angles etc.. One thing that won't be a problem will be keeping up with them athletically, talent or speed wise...We can match them athletically and honestly this is going to be the first team they will face this season that will be able to match up to them from a talent standpoint...It will be very interesting to see how Ohio State reacts to that...

Alabama lost one game to a team ranked in the top ten, Ohio State lost two... Including one to an unranked Iowa team which absolutely embarrassed them.

Sorry, at that point I don't give a $-&_ if Ohio State won the conference or not. That's pure BS. You lose by 20+ to and unranked team and have more losses then you don't deserve to be in the conversation as the current system is structured. Ohio State has no one to blame but themselves last year, not the committee.

That said, Southern knows I have always been for 8 teams in the playoff. 5 Power conference champs, 1 "best" Group of 5, and 2 wild cards. Done.

When you have as many first year players at key positions as PS does, it is not something that a couple of adjustments during the week will be able to correct. The defensive issues will be corrected only with experience over the course of a season not by a quick fix between any two games.

All I can hope is that we have been holding back on defense, playing a more vanilla system than we will the rest of the year. I hope. Lol
