How did an 0-1 vs RANKED TEAMS Ohio State go to a top 5, playoffs NOT EVEN in question, beat 6 teams in row ranked not even the top 45 and now to a will CRUSH Penn State?

Take JF out of the equation when responding!  LOL

Again, come Sunday morning I may be humiliated!! I don't see what the rest of the world is seeing here!!  Penn State does not deserve a playoff spot for losing to Illinois!  That is NOW their punishment! Coaches and players included! But that game was far from who this team really is!

Go ahead, take 6 quarters and define this team! I am not, and if they truly get blasted, send JF a packing! NOBODY should blow this team out of any stadium in the country!

GO STATE!!!

I'm sorry, but I still think the problem is Franklin's state of mind.  IMO he has something on his mind besides the game at hand.  Maybe it's his career path, maybe it's something else, but it's certainly not what's in front of him at the particular moment in time.  He talks about going 1-0 for that particular week, but I think he's blowing smoke.  He sure doesn't seem to be practicing what he preaches.  Just my opinion.  Something is going on in his head.

Not sure if you heard the interview from the other day but he'd love to sit down, have a beer with you and discuss the moving parts! Not sure what he's talking about when he says "moving parts" but there's obviously something going on with him.

If Clifford is healthy we can score with anybody I’m more concerned with the defense letting a backup QB and RB beat us on our turf. I would normally say it’s just one of those games that nothing went right but it’s 6 straight qtrs, that’s a  problem. We will be pulling like hell for ‘em tomorrow because we don’t ever give up get as many wins as possible because we can still play on New Year’s Day and that’s the goal.

Matt Millen thinks most teams are struggling at the OL. I believe it’s the offensive  system as well.

I think it's the OL, not the system. I don't believe that a guy who's had 9 straight years of success with his system just forgot how to use it when he got here.

I also believe Franklin is making Yurcich commit to the run more than he wants to. At other places Yurcich wasn't so stubborn trying to run the ball, he would adapt and throw if he had to. However, in the press conferences Franklin keeps saying "they have to commit to the run" as if it's just a matter of trying to do it more and more until we finally "get it". It's just not going to work, and I think he's being bull headed about it with his OC.

@mtnittanylion

Then we could forget about forcing the run and Yurcich could call his game!

Rarely all of one and none of another.  The key is always looking at your strengths and weaknesses as well as the other guys and seeing how you match up and designing a winning strategy.  Didn't do that last week.  Now do I think this RPO system makes a O-Line more passive?  Yes I believe it does somehow.  I also hate the passive bend bend bend defense.

Sadly, I still feel we were outcoached last week by Bielema of all people, and the JF statement that I give Cliff the same power to decide if he plays I gave McQuery is a wimp out.  You are the head coach, it is your responsibility to see what Clifford had and put that days best QB in.  If it was Clifford, OWN IT, and own the fact that you have no backup.  MAN UP and quit the spin.

@underlion  we have a backup QB Roberson and he can be used as a weapon if he’s used right.  He sit and watched when he should’ve been given a chance I believe we would’ve won had they give him a chance we only need 3 yards and that would’ve been his strength

@southern-psu-fan I don't disagree.

One 2 point conversion in 7?  And it was actually running up the middle.  Minimally Roberson would have made that a less obvious play.

Out of curiosity when did he say that, "I give Cliff the same power to decide if he plays I gave McQuery"? Again I'm not expert but, I think McQ played at Penn state about 24 years ago well before Franklin's time at PSU. If he said it, that is a really bizarre comment!!

Right, McSorely was allowed to tell James when he could play....so Cliff should get to tell James when he plays also.  What a crock.

Sorry, hot my MC's confused....

The argument that the NCAA rule reduceing contact time makes it hard to develop a second string QB also could be used for developing an offensive line.  If true, then I expect a progressive OC and HC to figure it out and simplify blocking and maybe it becomes obvious you need 2 mobile QB's.
